hackthatphone.com said:I have some important notes to pass along regarding the installation of this jailbreak method. Hopefully this saves you a couple hours of frustration. I've done this twice now on Windows and both times it failed. I then tried the Mac method and it failed. I walked away for a bit, then came back and the iPhone was working and was on 1.1.3. Here is what you need to do. When you install the 1.1.3 soft upgrade program on the Installer it will freeze at 50% completion of installation of the package. It will then throw a "main script execution failed" error. Don't do anything! Let it sit for a few minutes and it will reboot the iPhone on its own. You will then get the slide to unlock screen and then you will get to the SpringBoard with the edit home screen icons message. You are now on 1.1.3. I'll post both a Windows and a Mac guide on this.
Not sure if I'm reading those couple of posts correctly, but are people upgrading SIM unlocked iPhones to 1.1.3, and maintaining the unlock?
If so, that's pretty big.
I heard there is a way to get Google locations working. You have to download a file....
BUT THEN WHAT? Is Google locations the only thing that doesn't work after the jailbreak?
Thanks
I did everything right up to going into installer and installed the soft update. Went to the kitchen for less than 15 seconds and came back... it had restarted and now its on the "connect to itunes" icon.. itunes also said this iphone had to be restored. Still sitting there for a few min
Is this suppose to happen? Am I suppose to wait at this screen? Or disconnect it?
Can't wait for the iPod touch jailbreak of 1.1.3 to come out. And for the mac for that matter. Why are jailbreaks coming out first for windows anyway?
Someone needs to port the 1.1.3 iPhone apps to work on the iPod so that we can avoid the $20 payment.
Jailbreaking your iPod is fine, but don't pirate software.
So far:
iBrickr downloaded whatever it wanted.
Then asks to download or point to 1.1.3 restore file (I already had so pointed to it).
Next says needs 1GB and 300mb to uncompress.
Then uploads new firmware image to phone... 5 minutes into this...message just changed to "Uploading, still. Seriously, I said it would take a while. Just wait it out. It might be a half hour or something."
I guess I'll wait.![]()
Nate released a native mac 1.1.3 jailbreak, which works like a charm...
Now.. as you may or may not know, the current 1.1.3 jailbreak works by replacing the old system files with the new ones directly, and as such, don't upgrade your baseband! If you are running an unlocked phone this is a good thing, but if you are a legitimate subscriber and want to upgrade then you want the new baseband so that things like google maps "locate me" work properly.
Since the fls and eep baseband files for the new bb are not currently out yet, you'll need to follow this method to get 1.1.3 with the new baseband. This also works for otb 1.1.3 users that wish to jailbreak, and is fully compatible with both Macs and PCs.
Step 1) Download the 1.1.1 restore ipsw files from apple:
1.1.1 Restore Image
Step 2) Upgrade your phone to 1.1.3 using iTunes. This will install 1.1.3 on your phone and upgrade your baseband.
Step 3) Follow the first two steps from this tutorial here to downgrade your phone to 1.1.1 and jailbreak and activate it. Skip step 3 as we do NOT want to downgrade the baseband. You can ignore the invalid sim error messages; these are normal and due to the updated baseband being used with 1.1.1. Because of this, you wont be able to activate with itunes, so follow the tutorial!

Step 4) Once you've got 1.1.1 jailbroken and activated, follow the steps on Nate True's blog to upgrade to a jailbroken 1.1.3:

That's it, you're done! You now have a 1.1.3 iphone with the new baseband, and not some hacked up 1.1.3/old bb monster![]()
Oh, forgot to mention.. with the 1.1.3 jailbreak, DRM'd CONTENT WILL NOT PLAY! (That is, stock ringtones and iTMS purchases).. non-drm'd ringtones and all other media is fine.
