You can/could option-double-click to download from the Activity window in Lion.

Is the menu bar white or grey in ML?
any idea if you can enable notifications for new tweets like you can with Growl? I can only see an option for mentions and direct messages.

It hasn't changed since Leopard. It's translucent if your graphics card supports it. It's very light grey if your graphics card is too crappy for eye candy -or- if you've manually disabled it via Desktop settings in System Preferences.
On a side note: I wish they'd bring back an option for rounded corners on the upper left and right hand sides of the menu bar. Been missing that since 10.4 Tiger. 3rd party apps do a horrible job at replicating this using image overlays that overlap everything, including full screen videos, which is annoying.

command+/ to toggle the status bar. its optional and has always been an option.
Go to View>>>Hide Status Bar to hide the grey bar in Safari.

Source? As far as I'm aware, LLVM is not a typical virtual machine per se. Apps are certainly not run in a way similar to Java.More and more pieces of the operating system are moved into a LLVM (low level virtual machine). Now even compiling fast C code needs a virtual machine in the back end!!! This is backwards. And it is probably why Lion was so slow.

As time's gone by, optimisations made to LLVM-Clang and improvements to processors have largely negated any performance degradation as opposed to GCC.
I'm not the most well-versed in this arena, so I'd like to hear more about how LLVM-Clang degrades Lion's runtime performance.
