Reconfiguring everything takes around 20 minutes. It's not such a big deal. Just do the system preferences one more time and customise your finder and that's it. The 3rd party app preferences you can just copy paste.

In my case many hours of work for a variety of reasons. I'll do the upgrade install or fresh with a TM restore.

Dunno what it is. Start up time is very long. Even after a fresh install it still takes two minutes or so from Boot to Desktop.

Maybe I should replace my HD with an SSD?

I really dunno.

Check in preferences that your boot drive is correctly set.

Hiya,

Just a very quick question.

How many people on here that have installed 10.8 GM are actual developers and how many aren't.

Just want a quick overview.

Thanks

If I wanted an iPad I'd have gotten one...

If I wanted an iPad I would have gotten one. Mtn Lion moves the Mac even more into the iPad zone. Not interested. I will not be "upgrading" to an OS that is made to turn my laptop into a glorified iPad.

Apple is heading in the wrong direction in a number of ways...I have to wonder if these bad moves would be happening if Steve Jobs were still at the helm. Oh well.

I agree with you apple is in wrong direction. No more real server, no macpro only ithis ithat. I feel betrayed supporting apple on dark years.

All these new features should have been in Lion to begin with. Oh well..

I'm hoping this is sarcasm, because this line pops up for every release.. which means of course that every feature in 10.7 should have been in 10.0 to begin with! Yes even twitter and Facebook integration, even if they didn't exist back then! ;-)

Are you somehow losing features that were in Lion? no. Sure there are additional features, iOS style ones. And you can ignore these if you want, its not like they took away featured and dumbed everything down.

iOS is hugely popular, its an OS that normal non-geeky people love, its going to get used in the desktop OS. Things move forward, just remember people still wish we had text only/DOS style computers!

If Steve was still around? I'd say even more iOS style changes - Steve never wanted to please the geek or the tinkerer, he wanted sealed boxes, computers that were appliances.

Not going to work as there are no mailmen in the bush :)

In which case it doesn't matter how they release it since they wouldn't be able to order a DVD or USB stick either.

So how do you propose they get the OS they so badly need while on assignment in the bush?

I think the point is that they don't need the OS update at all much less "badly".

Can someone please try Logic Pro and AmpliTube 3 (latest version) under the GM release? I can't access it and don't want to, as I'm not a paying developer.

If those two programs work flawlessly, I can upgrade on day one. My audio interface just got updated for ML, these two are the last key things for my studies and job.
