I just saw this in Apple's official Features list

Go full screen on any display
If you have a secondary display connected to your Mac, you can take an app full screen on either display. Drag the window to the desired display and click the full-screen button.

So does this mean they fixed Full screen to support an app only being "full screen" on one display? (so in effect, if you had 2 screens you could have 2 different apps being full screen, each on it's own monitor) Please say it is so!!!!

So do we get a new iMac on the same day as the official release?
That's what I'm hanging out for!

I have just enough $$ for the current top model but how the update brings a bigger HDD, More RAM, i7 and faster video, oh and USB3. Should go will with Mountain Lion under the hood.

Will there be a thumb drive version? If its only on the app store I might as well forget it. Out in the sticks, I'm lucky if a PS3 game manages to download and that takes all night as it is.

Don't think so unfortunately. 17th July is the stock date that the iCal (or Calendar as it's now called) uses. Also, it says Monday in the top right hand corner. Monday 17th July does not occur this year, 17th is a Tuesday.

'fraid to say I think it's just a mockup and nothing else.

Oops, thought I had something.

nope, you can now put your app onto the screen of your choosing, whereas before it would always fullscreen to the primary monitor. Thats all.

No word on that this time around.

Shame, I was hoping Fullscreen would not "negate" my secondary display. Yes, I realize it's more beneficial for single display systems, but it is better than maximizing windows for improved screen real estate. It would be nice to have different fullscreen app's for each display, or for one display fullscreen while not applying a linen desktop to the other display. Never understood this "feature".

I think apple said there will not be a usb version this time. If you want you can burn a dvd or craete your own usb thumb drive, there is enough tutorials online and on youtube. Im sure someone on this forum already wrote a tutorial.

I just got the email that it is available via appleseed.

Time to install on my new 2012 13" Macbook Air and get it up and running on the ol' 2006 Pro...

When you get osx 10.8 running on your Mac Pro 1,1, please tell me how you were able to manage it so i can load it on mine.

No thumb drive. There is nowhere close you can't take a laptop to and download? Does anyone in the sticks have a laptop?

Sooo if we have retina macbook pro's and are guaranteed the ML upgrade, that makes it alright to torrent it illegally. Yes?

This scroll lag is killing me >.<

No, it's still against the EULA. But it's nothing more than a technicality; I wouldn't lose any sleep over it.

No, heh I believe that what you get "for free" when buying the new macbook pro is as they write, an upgrade! NOT the full installer so you can make a clean install etc.

I could be wrong, but don't expect to get much more than a "click this button to upgrade your lion to ML" from apple, anything else will require you to buy ML from the app store (I think).

For the Sandforce controller people among us just do a secure empty trash and that's the trim.

Yeh enabling TRIM on a sandforce controller based SSD does seem a bit pointless and causes me more issues (micro freezes and the like) than its worth. But I do have a spare 8gb usb stick with an emergency copy of osx installed, that has trim enabled.. So once every few months I just run

fsck_hfs -ffy /dev/rdisk1s2

and I get the wonderful sense that my drive has now been trimmed. Frankly I really dont notice any difference in performance, its more a psychological thing.

You can turn that "upgrade" into a full install by copying it correctly to a usb stick, and running it. Voila it can fresh install without upgrading.

Also you'd think that the internet recovery will default to mountain lion for laptops eligible soon enough, so theres another method for fresh installs, without even needing the app store.

Lion was a "upgrade" but it didn't stop you from restoring it to a usb drive and installing it on a newly formatted drive.

Very good points... I just hope a lot has happened from DP4 to GM (i doubt it) but DP4, yes feels faster than LION but is still so sluggish as a working OS.. specially coming from windows. *sigh*

Apple has never enforced any real type of copy protection with OS X. You've always been able to just clean install or upgrade, despite what the EULA has ever said.

I definitely do not dig the super sized Safari tabs. Hopefully there's something released soon to fix that.
