Please check the very first post on the very first page of this thread about replacement cards supporting the Apple metal interface and offering graphics acceleration. There are nearly 30 options listed on three tables.

The M5950 is not one of them. You may search this thread yourself, some already flashed this type of card.
IMHO it is a waste of time and money to do this - and it is slightly off topic, too.

M5950 = HD6770m with 1GB VRAM. This is not categorized as "upgrade". Search in the thread with the keyword and you will find how to do it. But like Ausdauersportler said, it's off-topic.

I got a dell 4800 with k1100m.
Then I flashed the bios over nvidia flash from techpowerup successfully.
When I reboot the screen stayed black on the laptop.
Anyways I replaced the card in my 2011 27" iMac. It booted without Apple logo. Then I installed mojave with opencore legacy patcher. Everything worked great inclusive brightness, sleep, wake up etc.
Then wanted to try big sur. Installed also successfully brightness, sleep is ok.
However on mojave all temperatures were 35-40C but on big sur power supply heatsink gets very warm about 70 75 C.
I changed fan speeds and gets cooler but it's very loud.
Edit: Today I booted my imac again. Now all the heat problems are gone. Everything seem fine.
That's my experience with the gpu upgrade.

Have a question : is it normal not to see the temperature of gpu? Its always 129C.

Anyway, I'm very appreciated of this project and want to thank all the devs for the great work. Without your help it was impossible to get my imac into the life again. You rock guys.

That is normal. You cannot expect a vBIOS especially designed for iMacs will still enable the internal laptop screen. It does not work the other way around…

Press alt/option on boot and you see the complete boot process on screen. You need to (manually) select the OpenCore EFI to get into Big Sur…the vBIOS has a small time out which blacks out the boot process partly.

Likely the spotlight database has been built and caused a lot of HDD reads, CPU activity, and power draw…

Yes, this is normal and I am quite sure we have written a lot of about the temp sensor and temp control problem. You likely just missed it.

You are welcome!

Does this mean that when the spotlight database completes been built up, the temps will drop to normal figures?

I am asking because I just received my K2100m and I plan to upgrade to big sur. I want to make sure that all (or most of it) will work OK. 😀

Hello everyone, a strange thing has happened to me, on this imac 27 2011 with hd 6970 the brightness control has disappeared, I have tried the video card on another imac and it works, I think it is a software problem, but for various programs it does not can i restore it, is there any way without backup to recover the drivers i think or i don't know what could have happened '? (I use the external display and noticed that it did some weird re-firings before the brightness disappeared)

I've been trying to flash my k2100m with the USB drive, but for some reason the IP address will appear and then disappear and show as "not connected" on my router page. I'm really frustrated cause I literally can't find any info about this specific issue. I even tried entering the IP on terminal when it does appear, so I can use ssh, but it won't even work... does anyone know what's wrong? I'm at a loss here.

There is a chime when I turn it on, and the fans start running full speed.

Did you disconnect all the SSD/HDD and reset NVRAM? Did you wait for long enough, like 1-2 min? The router would show the IP first, then disappear and finally reappear.
Your K2100m card may also be faulty.

Hi friends! I need help identifying the video card. Is it wx4130 2g or wx4150 4g?

Hi friends! I need help identifying the video card. Is it wx4130 2g or wx4150 4g?
Asking back:

How would you try to achieve this and which part would make the difference?
Can you read out the print on these parts?
Can you feed the string them into a search machine and figure out the attributes of these parts?

I was given this video card, what model it is unknown. I looked at the prints on the card in search engines, did not find a definite answer. I want to install this card in an iMac 12.2 27" 2011 and need to know what BIOS to flash into this card

But we agree at least you can read the string SAMSUNG K4G4132.... give it a try and count the chips and do the math.

That's gigabytes, right?
The first entry in the row said 4Gb - which is different from 4GB. You have four such chips, you were asking for 2GB vs. 4 GB in total. Now the last unknown in your equation is: What is the difference between a B (Byte) and b (bit).

BTW: 128M x 32 == 128M x 8 x 4 = 1G x 4 = 4G (and b not B although it has not been mentioned here exactly).

Read the posts I made and install OCLP to get the OC boot picker. The HD 8xxxx is purely cosmetic. It has been even mentioned how to get the R9 M280X name…
"Read the posts I made and install OCLP to get the OC boot picker."
Please provide the post numbers for install OCLP. Thanks !

I got this issue once last month when trying to flash the vBIOS for a Dell M6100. A little panic at first, but the solution was simple: Just close and re-open the router page. The device name "grml" finally show up.

I tried flashing the vbios with the linux usb method.
I can find the IP (grml) and use ssh to connect, but then it tells me the password is wrong?
What I am doing wrong?
