The biggest advantage Ferrari have is unless he gets a dnf Vettel will always earn more points than Kimi. They will make sure that happens. Even like last time when Vettel's car was not running well.
Whereas Mercedes points will be divided between their drivers depending on who does best.

hmmmmm.. your F1 coverage is different than mine...

You are right here, sadly kimi is not doing well this season. On the other hand I think that Bottas is doing a marvelous job!

Bottas can beat Lewis on the day. They let their drivers race.
Ferrari feel only Vettel is going to win the drivers championship so Kimi is there in a supporting role only.
Shame as I much prefer Kimi to Vettel.

i agree that bottas can beat him.

i do not agree that he is allowed to.

there will be some races, and have been, where lewis can do nothing about it.

but calling those instances, which are few and far between, being "allowed to race each other" is optimistic at best.

sadly, you and i, we will ne'er see eye to eye on this one.

New contract for Kimi then. Hardly a surprise. No other decent seat for him. Vettel's happy with a driver he can usually beat, and if on the rare occasion he can't team orders will take care of it for him.

Max for Ferrari when his RBR contract expires in 2019 though? I think so!

Looking forward to the season kicking off again this weekend.

Not surprising. Be interesting to see what Vettel does. A Finnish paper says he only wants a single-year deal to try and get into Mercedes AMG (under the assumption Lewis wins the WDC this year and retires rather than re-signs) while Ferrari supposedly want him to extend for three more years at 40 million Euro per.

I think that's wishful thinking. Lewis could go on for years yet.

Interesting tribute. I wonder how long until we see him in F1 proper?

Michael Schumacher's son will mark the 25th anniversary of his father's first Formula 1 win by driving at Spa before Sunday's Belgian Grand Prix.

Mick Schumacher, 18, will drive demonstration laps in a 1994 Benetton car, a family spokeswoman said.

His father took his first race victory at the circuit on 30 August 1992 before going on to a further 90 race wins and seven world titles.

Schumacher, 48, suffered serious head injuries in a skiing accident in 2013.

He has not been seen in public since.

He retired in 2006 in after two world titles with Benetton in 1994 and 1995 before five titles in a row with Ferrari from 2000 to 2004 - clinching his seventh world title at Spa.

He made a comeback in 2010 with Mercedes but was unable to replicate his earlier success.

Schumacher family spokeswoman Sabine Kehm said it was not possible to use the race-winning 1992 Benetton for the demonstration because of mechanical and insurance issues.

Mick Schumacher is currently racing in European Formula Three.

I don't get super-involved in the "noise issue", but NBCSN did a retrospective of the cars over 20 years (1987-2016) at Spa and my god, the difference in sound between just 2013 and 2016 was literally night and day (in favor of the 2013 model) to say nothing of the screamers of the early 2000's.

The video is available on F1's YouTube Channel (you will need to actually watch it on YT):

I just want to know why can't the current 1.6 liters turbos sounds as good as the 1.5 liter Honda turbo in Nakajima's 99T?

Interesting the audio difference between the 1990 and 1993 in-cars, even though both are Renault V10s - the 1990 is screaming while the 1993 sounds like she's at idle.

2004, though... Just cuts right through you.

A. Great share!

B. Less than 2o minutes ...

Button back to racing for a full season..? Cool.

So much for the rain mixing it up in qualifying.
Vettel seems out of sorts. I'd love to see Kimi beat him but doubt it will be allowed.
Vettel's signed until 2020 so he seems committed to seeing out his career at Ferrari.

Hamilton with a great lap. Surprised Bottas was so far off. Once again Kimi helped out Vettel to get on the first row. Should be a Mercedes victory tomorrow unless the rain hits and mixes things up.

That's how I see it to, but anything could happen. Short run to turn 1, so the start will be interesting. Suits Vettel if they both crash out more than Lewis.

Also equaling Schumachers record is impressive. Not many can equal Lewis on a 1 lap qualifying. If any.

And here's where Hamilton wins the title... barring any stupid stuff at the first corner.

Good win for Lewis. Vettel was so close, but Lewis was able to deal with the pressure.
Nice to see Ricardo on the podium as well in a car that really had no place taking third.
Surprised Kimi wasn't able to put pressure on him with the fresh rubber at the end.

Shame again for Max. His reliability is likely to see him thinking about different options.

Did Alonso have a problem or just decide he had been embarrassed enough?
