Picture from my Oled TV which I use as a monitor, obviously overexposing the bloom effect a camera captures but not at all how it looks in reality.
That proves my point, it’s a 48” LG CX.What model is that OLED? Looks more like an LCD and photoshopped too or you have a potato for a camera.
The bloom spills off the edge of the TV, so you can tell it’s a camera artifact. In many sample images of the new iPad Pro posted here, most of the bloom stops at the bezel of the display, so it’s obviously a display issue and not a camera issue.Picture from my Oled TV which I use as a monitor, obviously overexposing the bloom effect a camera captures but not at all how it looks in reality.
Depending on the conditions of the picture overexposure is going to show like bloom
Well said.Kicking around the interwebs this morning it's obvious this is taking hold with certain demographics... apple haters, opportunists, etc.
It's no doubt within a day or two we're going to see YouTube full of "WTF APPLE!?!?!!" videos from semi-famous "reviewers" trying to get those cash rich clicks.
The irony is to 97% of users its something they probably wouldn't even notice, let alone care about, but it'll blow up and present itself as a huge problem, even though it really isn't.

Wouldn’t that defeat the propose of the technology? (if all the zones are at the same brightness level, it basically turns it into a regular LCD)
? yes. This basically fixed it for me. (the blooming). I had updated to 14.5.1 but I did a restart now and its fixedI can’t believe I’m the guy saying this…
For those complaining about the blooming/edge shadow. Have you updated to 14.5.1? They shipped the 12.9’s with 14.5, and for some reason (maybe it was just the restart) when I updated to 14.5.1, the blooming was much lower when testing it by drawing a line in Notes.
Maybe my issue was different. What I had was when I was in a dark room with the iPad in dark more and I would go into an app like notes, the UI elements and white texts had a grey box around them and when I drew with the pencil like a dot or a line a large grey area would appear around it.I'd really like to see some comparisons from before and after that 14.5.1 update , this seems way to good to be true to get fixed this fast and via a software update at that.

the shadow around the edges is a non issue for me
Actually, it’s visible in a pitch black room with brightness set to lowest setting as well.Like backlight bleed, visible only in a pitch black room with brightness on 100% ?
Well i'm happy for you but I couldn't live with such a "defect" personally since I sit on my ipad in darkmode most evenings, clearly the screens are not that good of a quality if they produce this halo effect and the subreddit is exploding with more and more carefully taken pictures.
Waiting for some youtube vids on this matter now , I really don't want to pay premium to become a beta tester for new tech.
No, 14.5.1 does not change anythingI can’t believe I’m the guy saying this…

Still there. I updated at Setup.I can’t believe I’m the guy saying this…

Do you have one in front of you? I can honestly say that I have a hard time noticing it even when my face is 5 cm from the screen looking for it with normal brightness for a dark room. So unless I crank the brightness high enough that I get blinded in the dark room I don’t see it all during normal usage, and at that point I get halo effects just by being blinded on the OLED screen on the iPhone as well.
Mine is on it's way unfortunately but I have been reading and reading about this issue and people reporting seeing it with even 15-20% brightness in dark enviroments on white / black backgrounds which let's face it is how we use it during night time.
And it's pretty clear around UI elements in youtube app and netflix , because i've seen dozen of pictures of them already.
Your hate for apple is unbelievable lolWhat model is that OLED? Looks more like an LCD and photoshopped too or you have a potato for a camera.
Exact same thing will happen on my oled tv, the camera will blow out the whites straight away.Picture from my Oled TV which I use as a monitor, obviously overexposing the bloom effect a camera captures but not at all how it looks in reality.
