Am i the only one who is gonna buy the 7 core gpu and put 16gb ram, 512gb drive and add the Touch ID as option, as I’d rather save 200 bucks than to have 10% extra gpu performance and 2 usb, not even thunderbolt ports? 😆
I ordered the 7 core GPU, too. Only doing lite office (Numbers, Pages, Keynote) work. Probably, don't even need 7 cores!

Ordered
Both blue, both 256gb
One 8GB Ram (27th May on apple app)
One 16GB Ram (3rd June on apple app)

Most likely will return 8GB ram version.

Delivery times for 256gb/8gb ram have slipped into early/mid June now for Blue so it seems as if they’re popular.

Out of interest why will you be returning the 8gb one?

Why not just buy the 16gb one?

I wasn't going to. I really wasn't. Not because the new iMac is ugly (it isn't), or the M1 is only a toy, playing at being a CPU (it isn't), or even because of the lack of Apple logo on the chin (because, well, who on earth cares), but because my 2015 5K 29-inch hybrid iMac is working just as well as ever, and I run a few 32-bit apps such as Office 2011, Aperture, and well, other stuff.

But I was stuck this morning waiting for a slow train to pass my railroad crossing, and since it was 8.10, and there was nothing better to do for 5 minutes or so, I wondered if the new iMacs had sold out yet. This was a bad idea, because obviously, they weren't.

So I bought a blue 8Gb/512, 8-core. The RAM will be plenty, the 512Gb SSD is probably necessary, though I'll be adding around 4T of external storage, and I'll toss the keyboard with Touch ID away because I'll plug a mechanical keyboard in instead.

I use LibreOffice on my M1 MBA, (and Pi 400) and it does a fine job, so that will do for the new iMac too, and the rest of the 32-bit software will just have to get replaced. It was time.

The new iMac will look great, and save me a few inches of desk. It'll be especially shiny next to the Performa 630CD, but the Apple logo on that is rather tiny anyway, because there was a time when we didn't need a logo to know it was an Apple gizmo.

No order yet, but I'm definitely eyeballing a Green, 8-Core, 1TB, 16GB RAM model.

It's more than I need now, but I'm hoping this is something I can use for ten years, so I figure I'll stuff it full from the get-go to get as much lifespan out of it as possible.

I wanted that very configuration but you can’t get the yellow in the base configuration!

Blue iMac 8gb ram/512gb ssd (4 ports, magic keyboard with Touch ID)

Student here so ain’t doing much more than office, notion, emails, Adobe reader, safari, etc.

Have used both a m1 MacBook Pro with 16gb ram and 8gb ram and never noticed a difference with what I do.

Delivers by 28th May (UK based here)

I was hoping the 8gb one would arrive on the 21st but no luck. And after reading a lot of reviews, thought it’d be best to get 16gb ram as I plan on having this for a long time, so 16gb would be better in the long term.

That keyboard could be a hot seller on eBay since you currently can't buy one without buying an iMac. That'll probably change in a few months.

I made the mistake of ordering at 5am when I was half-awake. Mid Tier Model with 256gb SSD and 16gb ram upgrade with Trackpad and Standard Touch ID Keyboard.

I didn't even realize you could order it with the extended numpad keyboard and now my only option is to cancel and reorder for delivery 3-4 weeks later.

:(

Bummed.

Ah!! This is probably true, and I hadn't even thought of it! Sadly, I never sell anything because I wouldn't remember to go to the post office to mail it, but you should get commission for the idea!

Maybe you can find a friend who's a regular eBayer to do it for you. Who knows...$200? 🙂 If you're just going to trash it or throw it in a drawer...

I'm just really fussy about keyboards, and while Apple's aluminum ones are pretty good for this style, I always preferred my Apple Extended II with a Griffin iMate. Now I have a cheap, but really excellent, black key mechanical, so the Touch ID one that comes with the new iMac was heading for a drawer. But you're right, that's probably a waste.

Green 8/8, 16 GB, 512 GB and got a shipping window of May 21-27

Ordered around 9 am eastern and had some doubts/got scared of FOMO once bigger ones get released, but this will be way more than enough to replace my 2012 MBA. Plus, if the big brother really winds up being 30+ inches, I really don’t need something that large, and quite frankly I’m afraid of how much it’s going to cost.

Also facepalming for not realizing you could get the expanded keyboard but I can live without it.

From my experience installment plans with Apple Card usually post right away. Outright purchases charge when they prepare to ship.
Apple Card will deduct the full amount from your available credit and usually posts the first installment charge as pending and the tax charged upon shipment. (Side note, interestingly, Goldman Sachs recently seemed to start reporting the full amount of the charge on your credit report even though you’re paying in installments and only the installment payment is due monthly).

Totally irrelevant, but isn’t the Mini better than the iMac? I mean they have same chip and Miki has more ports. You can always buy a separate keyboard, mouse, and display???

No other display on the market can compare against an iMacs... Only contender really is the Pro Display XDR.

Built in camera, True Tone, auto brightness adjustment, 4.5k retina, high quality speakers & mics - You won't find a monitor like this for the $600 difference (and the price includes Apple's keyboard & mouse thrown in).

I ordered a Pink IMac 16Gb Ram 512GB ssd with numeric keyboard (two ports 7 core GPU) says delivers between May 21st -27th hope it arrives then I go out of town in June.

I didn't use my edu discount. I paid with my Apple Card so I guess the 3% discount is tallied at shipping time?
once the charge posts to your account (when it ships) you'll get your 3%

they don't discount it off the price... you pay/get charged the full price but then the 3% will be in your apple cash card where you can spend it, transfer it to your bank, apply it toward your apple card balance...
