Ok I received my BCM94360CD replacement from the vendor as the first one was faulty. I connected the antennas the following way, to get bluetooth functionality over one of the WIFI antennas.

1 = J1
2 = J3
3 = J0

Wifi is working fine so far, but I can't get bluetooth to work. After I installed the new Airport card, I pulled the plug from the original bluetooth module. But now I don't get any bluetooth at all. As I don't have another cable keyboard, I can't even reset the SMC.

Is there anything I need to do first in order to get the Mac Pro to switch from the original buetooth module to the new one on the Airport card?

Have you connected data from the original BT location to the new combo card? I'm attaching a photo to show where mine are connected.

Oh man, I'm stupid. I thought a bluetooth capable Airport card would just magically work by itself when connected to an antenna. But yeah, it makes sense to transfer the bluetooth data to the old port to get processed.

Unfortunately my combo card doesn't have a connector for bluetooth. So I bought bluetooth capable card and can only use its wifi ... :confused:

Thanks for the clarification though. I will have to send this thing back again and look somewhere else.

Before returning your components, perhaps post front/back photos of your adapter and your BCM94360CD?

In my rig the BT data connector is on the adapter, and I'm fairly sure this is common. It's possible we just need to show your eyes where to look. If that's the case, then all you need is a cable solution with the proper connectors on each end (which is an interesting part of this massive thread -- several ways to skin the cat!)

The two metal terminals beside R1 are probably D- and D+. Maybe some else can confirm. If so then you just need to solder a wire each to them, and from what I know it doesn’t matter which one goes to the adapter (ie D- to D-,or D- to D+ etc) that plugs into the BT USB port beside where the original BT modules plugs into the MoBo. But don’t take my word for it.

I bought this one :

https://www.ebay.de/itm/Apple-Mac-Pro-2009-2012-Wifi-AC-Bluetooth-4-0-kit-Plug-n-Play/263710434614?

works oob with catalina. Installed as adviced: antenna 1 to j0, 2 to j1, 3 to j2, BT to j3.

After installation did PRAM reset !!!!!!

disabled SIP
Then entered the terminal ("sudo mount -uw /")only necessary in catalina
and inserted the command :
sudo /usr/libexec/PlistBuddy -c "Set:Mac-F221BEC8:ContinuitySupport true" "/System/Library/Frameworks/IOBluetooth.framework/Versions/A/Resources/SystemParameters.plist"
to whitelist the machine as told some threads before (995)
and restarted the machine.

Thanks, but I wont't do any soldering. I know nothing about that and will probably do more harm than good.

I found this kit as well and will be ordering it. Good to hear it is working for you.

The power cable has its own connector on the adapter, which gets connected to the original usb connector on the backplane. you can leave the original bluetooth module mounted. it is completely deactivated. the package includes a detailed description step for step.

have a look to the seller on ebay to mac-factory too. he is selling the same very often.

I know, I have the card from osxwifi. Just was wondering about the conector it appears on the picture, together with the antenna.

let me know. My package with an adapter for mini PCI(to original connector) was lost and it is not clear whether to order again or wait :(
switched to mini-pci connector and it's working now. Continuity and Airdrop. All good. BT signal suck, though. Ordering a MHF4 to rp-sma female extension cord and see if that will improve the signal a bit.

Can anyone recommend a good screwdriver (set) to remove the M2x3 screws that hold the original Airport Card that came installed with the 5,1? I am having a hell of a time trying to get them out with my tiny screwdriver.

Disregard - Found a jeweler's screwdriver and got it out.

BTW, I am finding that periodically I have to disable SIP and update the patch, then re-enable.

sudo /usr/libexec/PlistBuddy -c "Set:Mac-F221BEC8:ContinuitySupport true" "/System/Library/Frameworks/IOBluetooth.framework/Versions/A/Resources/SystemParameters.plist"

sudo -E perl -pi -e "s/\Mac-00BE6ED71E35EB86/\Mac-F221BEC8\0\0\0\0\0\0\0\0/" /System/Library/Extensions/IO80211Family.kext/Contents/PlugIns/AirPortBrcm4360.kext/Contents/MacOS/AirPortBrcm4360

This works for Catalina, but has to be done with the full path while booted into Mojave. Watch unlock works, but the range for AirDrop and handoff is "intermittent" due to the lousy BLE reception on the Mac Pro.

That’s a shame... It’s been flawlessly working for me since install. Works perfectly in Catalina too so far.

I'm not sure if anyone else has experience this issue, but I am running the updated Broadcom card to give BT4.2 and .11ac, and am having huge lag on the bluetooth. In the system report it says that BT LE, Handoff, Instant Hot Spot are all support, but I can't activate Apple Watch unlock and get audio lag on my headphones, as well as issue with the keyboard showing a delay when typing.

I have just completed a clean install of Mojave but am still having issue. Any suggestions on how to fix it would be greatly appreciated.

you should try switch the antenna connections between J2 & J3 like sailmac said at post #1239 , run script at post #1266

Great, thank you. I've switch a wifi antenna on to the BT terminal and the lag issue seems to be resolved. Apple Watch Unlock still won't activate but I will train running the terminal command on post 1266 and see how it goes.

guys. do not understand why. Handoff does not work. installed the BCM94360CD card on the second macro. blue tooth and wifi work. Airdrop and calls work. handoff does not work . one on the phone and on the macro. OSX Mojave. I rebooted both the phone and the MacPro. What did I miss?

UPD
It seems that the problem is iOS beta 13. Handoff does not work in conjunction with MacBook Pro 2018 (Mojave too)
UPD2
very strange. mail handoff - works on macbook pro, but doesn't work on macpro. handoff with safari does not work on a macbook pro about nor on a macro. bad magic
Safari pages open on MacBook Pro and MacPro are not visible on the phone
