Oh crap...just remembered that there are some iMessage threads I'd like to save if possible.

Oh well...

I did made screenshots of all the tweaks I have installed...a lot! Know that maybe not all will work on 9.33 right off the bat.

probably not. if you use activator, make sure to 'export settings' before backing up, activator works but its settings app is broken in 9.3.3
[doublepost=1469403898][/doublepost]about the 7-day thing... when I check the device management thing (former profiles) it clearly says that apps from developer blah blah blah are trusted on this iphone and will be trusted until all apps from the developer are deleted.

so is apple lying and it will stop working after 7 days? hehe

Until you mentioned the activator thing, I didn't even know this was possible... thanks.

What's this about 7 day thing?

some ppl here and on reddit claim the cert that allows the jb app to run on vanilla iOS will expire after 7 days and the app will not run anymore. that message seems to contradict it.

I should probably JB before then to play it safe.

I really do not want to go through making up a new apple id. You really think if i use mind it will end up bad? i could use my daughters apple id on her iphone but i do not need my stuff on hers. But to use my ID i do not see what is so bad about it?

If I create a new Apple ID can I then restore my latest backup using my actual Apple ID?? Starting from scratch would be rough.

I'm also concerned about using Keychain on my jailbroken device. How risky is that and does updating the root password make Keychain any more secure? Obviously this is all "at your own risk." I don't do pirated tweaks and am pretty conservative.... but the stakes can be high if I access anything sensitive (banking, online purchases with credit cards, etc). I've got two-factor and/or Touch ID on whatever I can but there but for the grace of... y'know.

Wait a minute... If this jailbreak requires you to run the pangu app every time the device is rebooted to reapply the JB, then I'm saying pat on the 9.0.2 JB!

Moving with this JB then is a no-no for me!

But at least some portion of the iPhone community can use this semi-tethered JB.

All I had to do was backup, control+ update. When it was done, I didn't need to restore.

Pangu didn't require your Apple ID? I've read it does (though some have reported that you aren't prompted on an iPhone 6, which is what I have).

Yes, I did create one at iCloud.com first using a backup email address. But I didn't need to restore from a backup. It took all of maybe 10 minutes.

Wow, I'd love not to have to restore. I have a huge library of audio files and I transcode them from lossless to something smaller so it takes a day to restore from a backup.

I don't backup to the cloud, though. I've just finished my backup on my Mac and downloaded Pangu on my Windows laptop. I wonder how much using multiple IDs and multiple computers will complicate things.

I'll give it a day or two so I can sort out how to do this most securely (stuff like root password, etc.). It'll also give me a few days to watch which tweaks are updated to 9.3.3. I've been without a jailbreak for three months (after a member here sucked me into that world last summer). I can wait a few days. I hope!

Sorry to sound dim but what's a control+
Update.

Of love to update to 9.3.3 and JB without having to restore etc.

I'm still not sure I want to give up a stable 9.0.2 fully unteathered JB.

Does anyone have an idea how likely it is they'll push an update through Cydia to make it fully untethered?

Edit : Saurik has said over on Reddit that an unteather for this JB is unlikely so I think I'll just stay as I am and hope for a fully unteathered iOS 10 JB in the future.

If it takes too long, is it possible for you to get parallels?

I used Win10 via VM Ware. Took two times. But I also turned off shared folders.

In iTunes, instead of just doing update software, I first downloaded ISPW from here: http://www.redmondpie.com/download-ios-9.3.3-ipsw-for-iphone-and-ipad-final-version/

When I updated it to the iPad, I did Option+Update and uploaded the downloaded ISPW. Worked like a charm.

Would someone mind updating in here where the jailbreak is at right now? is it just semi or pretty much done? And i have not JB yet because i do not wish to make up another apple ID and password. Is it really bad to use your own?

You'll have to our should make another ID. It's worth it. If your phone reboots or you have to reboot it, you just rerun the PP app again and you're jailbroken. Your tweaks remain. It's painless.

You don't need an Apple ID.

I applied the JB direct from Safari on my iPhone.

A respring does not lose the JB but a reset such as turning it off and on does. However part of the process of JB is the pangu app that sits in your Homescreen and let's you JB again from the phone.

That's if you can get to that website. It might be best to wait a few days. Right now, I keep getting page not found after several minutes of trying to load.
