I created a new "easy to install package" as per many requested (based on the official OpenCore). [The attached package updated to 0.7.7]

For those who only need HWAccel, post #594 has everything you need. This new package mainly offer HWAccel + boot screen. Also, this package should work in Catalina and newer macOS for dual processor cMP.

I don't mind you guys discuss anything about this package, but I have no plan to provide any explanation about OpenCore at here. If you want to know more, please join cdf's OpenCore thread. For new joiners, please make sure read through the FAQ in post #1 before you ask anything.

The attached packaged included Clover Configurator and a complete preconfigured OpenCore. All credits goes to the developer teams. If you want to show your support, please give them donation (declaration of interest: I am NOT in any of their developer teams)

For Clover Configurator and OpenCore developers teams, please let me know if you want me to remove the associated software inside my attachment in this post.

This is a "one package fit all" solution. So, it's designed to fit as much setup as possible, which may not be optimized for your setup (e.g. I haven't provide HiDPI boot screen, for those who are running 4K screen, the Apple logo may be quite small during boot). You have to do the optimization by yourself (details in the OpenCore manual, some info also available in cdf's OpenCore thread).

Anyway, for those who have RX 460 or newer AMD GPU, this package should gives you:
  1. Boot screen (via GOP for unflashed card, including some Nvidia card)
  2. Firmware protection (to run Windows in EFI mode without risking the cMP bootROM)
  3. HWAccel (H264 / HEVC hardware decode + encode in Mojave and newer macOS)
  4. ability to watch DRM streaming content (Mojave and newer macOS)
  5. Boot picker (only support EFI systems, tested with Apple wired keyboard, Magic Mouse, and Magic Keyboard, 10s timeout. If you can't see this. Just don't touch the keyboard, and your cMP should continue to boot to desktop)
  6. NVMe and SATA drives on PCIe card show up as internal
  7. Support for Apple USB SuperDrive
  8. TRIM (regardless trimforce status)
  9. Ability to run non-GUI 32bit software in Catalina
  10. Ability to reset NVRAM in boot picker (disabled at this moment to align with the native Apple boot manager)
  11. Ability to run any natively supported ancient OSX with modern graphic card e.g. Radeon VII in 10.6.8 (only can display, no acceleration) [Update 5th May 2020: Sierra and High Sierra may not fully supported yet. Thanks for pierrox's report]
  12. Ability to boot Catalina / Big Sur / Monterey and the associated Recovery Partition [SurPlus (credit to Syncretic) is included and enabled by default to fix the racing condition in macOS 11.3 or later][MonteRand is also included. another credit to Syncretic]
  13. Sleep should work (tested on my cMP, but I can't guarantee it also work with your hardware)
  14. Possible to run 8x32GB RAM in macOS (user need to mod the config.plist manually. Replace the false below CustomMemory to true)
  15. Enable HDMI Audio for some graphic cards
  16. Ability to monitor modern AMD GPU's temperature (by using the attached RadeonGadget. Credit to Aluveitie)
It's impossible for me (and other voluntary helpers) to test every single function in all situations. So, as usual, use at your own risk. But you are welcome to report back if there is any problem / error.

Pre-installation:
  • Recommend to backup your BootROM between step 1 and 2 (e.g. by using ROMTool, credit to Dosdude, password "rom")
  • If you want to test OpenCore, you can install this package onto a bootable USB thumb drive.
  • Quite a few users reported that can't boot OpenCore from NVMe, analysis shows that depends on hard drives config. It's hard to explain which exact scenario may hit this bug. So, please avoid to install this package on NVMe. You can install this package on ANY SATA drive with virtually no performance lost, not necessary your boot drive.
  • If you want to remove OpenCore, please mount the EFI partition by using Clover Configurator, then remove BOOT and OC folders inside the EFI folder on EFI partition.
  • If your cMP stuck at boot. After shutdown, please pull out the hard drive that contain OpenCore, then perform NVRAM reset. If still doesn't work, then please install your emergency graphic card that has boot screen. Hold Option to boot, then select your backup boot drive. This should disable OpenCore.
  • For those who want to report issue / error. Please provide details (e.g. which graphic card, OpenCore installed on NVMe / SATA drive, the issue's details, etc) otherwise it will be extremely hard (or even impossible) for me to work out what's wrong.
  • If you installed Lilu for whatever reason (e.g. because of innie), or applied my previous non-OpenCore HWAccel mod, please remove them or revert them. For Lilu + WEG, that means delete Lilu.kext in /Library/Extensions/ and reboot (caution: these kexts may be installed in System/Library/Extensions/ as well). For hex edit method, that means delete AppleGVA.framework in /System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/ and rename AppleGVA.framework.bak to AppleGVA.framework. Warning: My packages already have Lilu and WEG included, "double installation" of these kexts will cause macOS boot failure.
  • For PULSE RX580, users reported that only can see boot screen when boot from gaming mode. There may be no UEFI GOP in the compute mode's ROM.
I tried to make the installation as simple as possible. However, I still demand you to learn some very basic skills. Those skills are very useful in the recovery process if something goes wrong. Anyway, here is what you need to do
  1. [Optional] 3x NVRAM reset to avoid some unknown issues.
  2. Disable SIP (must do, especially if you performed step 1)
  3. Download the attachment in this post (Some users reported 0.6.1 package has compatibility issue. You may download the 0.5.9 package if you prefer that, same installation procedures.)
  4. Follow the steps in this video (please turn on and read the subtitle)
  5. For Big Sur and Monterey, if some ports on your graphic card are disabled, please follow the steps in this video to re-enable them.
  6. Reboot

For existing OpenCore users, you may follow the step in this video to update OpenCore [For those who installed OC onto the Windows drive, please make sure you only replace the OC files, but not the whole EFI folder]

Additional option 1: If you have 4K screen, and you want to have "Retina" boot screen. You may do this. [Depreciated in 0.7.6, which Retina should be enabled automatically on 4K monitor]

Additional option 2: If you have a flashed Thunderbolt 3 card, you can install that in slot 4, then enable Thunderbolt 3 support by doing this.

Additional option 3: If you want to enable the ability to install / update Catalina, Big Sur and Monterey, please follow the steps in this video. [N.B. you should revert the changes after macOS installation completed. This special setting is not designed for daily use]

Additional option 4: If you have legacy wifi card, you may try the follow steps to re-activate the old wifi card in Big Sur (only avail in my 0.6.4 package or above)

Additional option 5: Since 0.6.3, I allow OC to take over SIP control. There are various reasons, but anyway, that's defaulted to be disabled. If you want to re-enable SIP, please follow the steps in this video. (please turn on the English subtitle when you watch this video, some useful info at there)

For FCP(X) users, if you want to export HEVC video by using HWAccel, you will need Compressor.
[N.B. The setting MUST identical to the one that I show in the video. Otherwise, HEVC hardware encoding may not work]

If you want to completely uninstall my OpenCore package, please follow the steps in this video.

N.B. Unflashed graphic card means "the ROM is never modified". For those who bought used card, and can't see the boot screen, most likely the last user flashed the card with modified ROM (e.g. downvolt for mining). In this case, you can go to TechPowerUp to find a ROM that fit your own card, and flash it.

P.S. If you want to support my work, please donate via the following link. Million thanks in advance! https://www.paypal.com/paypalme/martinlo420

with 2.26 Stock GPUs you will get audio problems, upgrade the CPUs first if you care about audio.

>>- Stuttering audio with Dual Processors MP4,1 upgraded to MP5,1 firmware when running Mojave note:

Be aware that with Dual Processors MP4,1>5,1 machines that still have the original Gainestown processors (Xeon 55xx-series), after installing Mojave you will have stuttering audio problems that only can be solved upgrading the Xeon processors to Westmere (Xeon 56xx-series), read about on this thread Strange Audio Issue on MP 4,1>5,1 Mojave 10.14.4.

This is a problem exclusive of Dual Processor MP4,1, single CPU MP4,1 don't have this problem at all. Some people don't even hear the stuttering audio, but if you are an audio guy or audio engineer, it will make you crazy, do your sanity a favour and upgrade your dual CPU tray to Westmere Xeons.

Still don't kn
So i mentioned these issues in the OpenCore thread but did't get any responses. After i read about others having similar issues here in this thread i'm just gonna join in with what i'm experiencing:

hardware:
cMP 5.1 (2012) with OC 0.7.7 (Martins latest package, only slightly modded for OpenLinux & Thunderbolt support), Radeon VII, flashed Titan Ridge in Slot4, upgraded Wifi&Bluetooth (BCM94360CD)
software:
macOS Monterey, macOS Mojave, Win11, Ubuntu LTS 20.04. OC EFI is only on the Monterey drive.

main issues:

1. Wifi doesn't work for either OS. In macOS Mojave & Monterey its just crossed out in the menubar and doesn't show up in system profiler. when i try to open Wifi in networksetting it'll display an error loading.
2. Sleep never worked. Once the computer goes into standby it will never wake up again. will need to force reboot by holding power button. Happens with any OS.
3. in monterey the whole system will freeze ~10min after boot. after maybe 10sec whole computer will auto reboot. not sure if this is the same as what other people here mentioned as finder freezing... this happens only in monterey (12.1) other OS work fine.
any thoughts? tips what i could try to fix any of these issues?

i tried many things already like e.g. using martins stock package but problems stayed.
can't really say since when wifi doesn't work anymore i'm pretty sure it worked before even on Monterey.

thanks in advance for any tips
still couldn't figure out what is causing these issues.

Wifi used to work fine before and Bluetooth is still working now even so I don't think its an issue with the card itself. I remember installing a couple airport drivers to get wifi working in Windows might this have caused the card not to be recognized in anymore in macOS? not really right?

Also found a new issue. The Mac will not shutdown properly. After clicking shutdown in the menu the OS will seemingly shutdown but the Mac will still be powered on (fans spinning). The LED by the power button isn't light up thou. It seems to be the same state my Mac will get stuck in when it goes to standby and won't wake up. Only holding power button will solve this :(

I'm with OC 0.7.7 package on 4.1 -> 5.1 MP, I change config.plist regarding this video :
, but still no way to migrate from BigSur to Monterey.
Each time error during preparation of installation.
Where could I find log file to see what is wrong ?

Make a backup, or better, clone Big Sur. Install a clean Monterey and use Migaration in the las part of the installation.

Hello, first of all I want to tell you that I am using an English translator, please excuse me if I do not express myself correctly. The second thing is to thank Martín Lo and all his people for the enormous generosity they have for having built this generic OpenCore package for everyone.

I am writing to you with the following problem and in the hope that someone can help me. I have a Mac Pro 5.1 (upgraded from 4.1 to 5.1) with a single processor (upgraded to X5690 six cores) and with an Nvidia GeForce 1080 graphics card from MacVidCards, you know, with Apple's EFI boot screen. My OS was High Sierra. I installed Martin's 0.77 package with the intention of upgrading to Catalina and so I did. I followed all the instructions Martin provided and all went well, the Mac booted perfectly into High Sierra with OpenCore 0.77. Then I upgraded from the Apple store to Catalina operating system is the latest version, and I had no problems. However, when I finished the first thing I noticed was that my 32-bit applications were NOT supported...and although that matters little to me, since many can be upgraded to 64 bits, in case I was surprised, so I would like to know why. The real problem I will tell you next.

Hello everyone!
I was running Mojave 10.14.16 (installed on an m.2 ssd) on my mac pro 4.1/5.1 2x 3.46 GHz CPU, 18 GB RAM, SAPPHIRE NITRO+ RX590 with opencore 0.7.7 installed in an HDD in the slot 1.
When I first ran the last release from Martin I had no HDMI audio, so I started checking out some posts from several users with the same bug, I didn't find much info so I started checking the config file and decided to disable GOP rendering (set it to false) and I got my HDMI audio, yay! Everything was running awesome so I deciced to try out Catalina 10.15.6 so I installed it and I still had HDMI audio, so now I wanted to get a Win 10 UEFI install. On the README file, Martin says its best to put opencore on a windows drive if you have one, so I followed the procedure on the opencore on the mac pro 5.1 thread to install WIN 10 in a SATA SSD in slot 2 and got it running succesfully, my windows 10 uefi install is running great, installed some games and they ran just fine (and I do have HDMI audio).
I kinda tried to perform Martin's instructions to move OC to the windows EFI folder but tbh I didn't understand how to do it correctly, I just did what the README file stated and I assumed I had to erase the oc and boot folders from the EFI of the HDD that had opencore on my mac but it didnt really work because opencore didnt boot and it went straight into my mac partition, so I just turned it off, removed the opencore hdd on slot one, power on, blessed the EFI WIN ssd with the file inculded in Martin's release, and after a reboot I had opencore back so I turned it off again, put back my hdd in slot 1, and my mac is still booting opencore.
I don't really know if what I did was the right way to do it.
Today I decided to install big sur 11.6.1 and suddenly I no longer had my HDMI audio output. So Im trying to figure out which parts of the config I should be checking for to enable my HDMI audio once more and hope anyone can also help me out confirming if moving OC to the WIN 10 SSD like I did was ok, maybe it´s what broke my HDMI audio in the first place.
Thank you all in advance, this bootloader is awesome and my mac pro feels superb.

Thanks for the report and the suggested work around.
Hi, Martin. I started testing 0.7.8 beta2 on cMP with Monterey 12.2.1.
Your standard config does not load the system at all,
I tried to look for the reason, disabled or removed unnecessary bluetooth kexts, it still does not load the system.
Then I removed surplus and monterand- does not help.
At the same time, I have been working on my config for 0.7.8 for a whole week.
I am attaching the configs that do not work and the one that works, it may be useful to understand the reason.

SOLVED
Release 0.7.8V2 works for me THANK YOU, Martin

Wow, your translation program did a great job. That was very clear. But you need to translate the bottom half too. I can answer about 32 bit applications not working.... It's because Catalina doesn't support 32 bit.

Chris

Ok, thanks Chris for your warning, sorry I didn't notice this error. So I continue with the translation. keep it up : so I would like to know why. The real problem I will tell you next.

I swapped out my Nvidia graphics card for my new Sapphire Nitro+RX 5700 XT graphics card (with the appropriate power cables) and turned on the Mac, it booted up as expected, but before it finished loading the black screen showing Martin's OpenCore, this went to the black and no longer happened there. I have tried several times, and the same thing always happens, I see that the white bar does not complete its course, and the video monitor (I have two) stays in suspension, that is, it turns off. I have also tried it with both monitors and the result is the same. Anyway...

Can someone please give me the solution? I will be eternally grateful. I see in the forum that nobody has this problem, although I may have missed a comment, since there are more than 400 pages to read...

I wait an answer. Thank you all for your attention. Greetings. Jose Antonio.

Navi GPUs only work after 10.15.1 and won't work for anything before it. If you have any problem with your OC config, you'll need to install a supported GPU and debug from Mojave.

Don't do it from GPUs that need NVIDIA web drivers to work, btw. Even with a flashed GTX 1080, you are making it a lot more complex for yourself since High Sierra APFS support is to old for modern macOS releases. The cheapest way to have pre-boot configuration support is to get a NVIDIA card that can be flashed wit a public Mac EFI like this GT630.

Ok Chris, I think I have not explained exactly what I did;
1 - Installing the latest version of Martin's Open Core on my Macintosh HD drive where Sierra Alta is installed.
After blessing and rebooting I see on my first monitor the OpenCore bootload complete and then after finishing the load it gives me the option to choose between two disks, the Macintosh HD and the recovery disk, obviously I choose my Macintosh HD disk where I have installed High Sierra.
Then it boots up perfectly and I see it on both my monitors. That means I have video output as it always was, thanks to my Nvidia 1080 flashed from MacVidCards. The first thing I could see is that on my desktop, my two SSD drives that previously appeared as external were now gone, finally the Mac saw them as internal. This was a good start. What a joy!!! 32bit apps weren't supported, but I don't care.

2 - I have been using the Mac for several days with OpenCore core installed and everything went well, without any problems.

3 - When my graphics card (Navi) arrived Sapphire AMD RADEON RX 5700 XT, I decided to update to the latest version of Catalina v10.5.7. To be able to do this again I followed Martin's instructions exactly. Everything went great, there was my upgrade to Carlina. Obviously I lost a monitor because Nvidia's web drivers couldn't work anymore, but everything else was fine.

4 - I replaced the Nvidia 1080 with the AMD Sapphire, with its two 8-pin to 6-pin cables to the board. All right.
I turned on the Mac, it booted up as expected, everything seemed to be fine, video output to screen with black background and white OpenCore loading progress bar over it. But here began my problem that I have already described above.
Before the white charging progress bar finished, the monitor screen went black, alerting me that it had gone into power standby.
After waiting a long time and observing that nothing else happened, I decided to turn off the Mac with the power button, I tried again. And again I got the same result, I see that the white progress bar advances but does not complete its journey, and from Suddenly the video monitor goes black. I tried again many times but to no avail.
This is what I can say.
Thank you for your/your attention.
Kind regards, Chris.
Jose Antonio.

Para su información, actualicé mi cMP de 11.6.3 a 11.6.4 con la actualización estándar de Apple OTA. Sin problemas.
Thank you very much offdewall, that's what they are, although this time everything will be different since I have sent the graphics card to be flashed with EFI from Apple. With this I want to definitively avoid what I have told before so that it does not happen again. It has been very useful for me that you have shared with me your experience.
I am very grateful to you, Kind regards friend.

FYI, I updated my cMP from 11.6.3 to 11.6.4 with standard OTA Apple update. No issues.
@offdwall - Thanks for the courage! I went from 11.6.2 to 11.6.4 today with standard OTA update on Martin's OC 0.7.6 package. No issues whatsoever. USB, Bluetooth (original), optical audio, ethernet, all working. cheers!

Hello everyone. I want to have Martin Lo's OC installed on a USB flash drive. This would be stupid easy right?, however I don't get it. After formatting the USB flash drive, and opening the Clover Configurator, I can see that the USB does not appear in the list of EFI devices. (Does not have?)
Then I had the weird idea of copying an EFI folder from another one of my drives and pasting it onto the USB, but it clearly didn't work.

I have followed these steps so basic that it seems ridiculous to explain them, but I am commenting to see if you can tell me what I am doing wrong. I configure the format my 2 GB USB in this way:

- HFS file system (I have also tried with APFS)

- MacOS plus (registered)

- Disc name

- Map of GUID holdings

And that's it, this is it. Anyway... I would like to know what mystery this matter holds. Thank you for your attention.

Greetings.

read post 1, especially the part about mounting the EFI partition and moving OC into it.

Hi, 2 ways to setup USB flash drive, both will work:
1) use a USB drive >4GB
• Disk Utility erase: choose extended HFS+(journaled) and GUID partition map. This will automatically create an EFI partition
• CloverConfigurator: mount the USB flash drive's EFI
• proceed to install Martin Lo's OC as per videos/instructions to the EFI partition
• bless the EFI partition (Use the Bless OpenCore.app)
• CloverConfigurator: unmount the EFI partition

2) use a USB drive >4GB
• Disk Utility erase: choose exFAT and Master Boot Record partition map. No EFI partition is created.
• proceed to install Martin Lo's complete OC EFI directory as per videos/instructions to the USB root directory ie /Volumes/Untitled[USB]/EFI
• bless the USB flash drive (do not use the Bless OpenCore.app). You can try either Terminal sudo bless command or boot into Recovery and Terminal bless (for specific instruction check out cdf's forum thread about OC)

On my cMP5,1(2012) OC 0.7.8 Monterey Recovery with 2GB USB flash drive (exFAT/MBR): in Terminal
• diskutil list [listing of all your attached drives]
• diskutil mountDisk /dev/diskAs1 [insert label of your drive]
• bless --mount /Volumes/OCBtLdcMP12 [insert name of your drive] --setBoot
• reboot

hope this helps

Thank you very much Claudiop, All your detailed information helped me completely. I understand that the problem was mainly that I use a 2 GB USB, and I see that I have to use 4 GB at least. I am very grateful to you. Thanks for sharing knowledge. Greetings from Madrid (Spain).

Hi, Here's something that might put you on track. Anyway I can tell you that in this same forum there are many comments about Windows on Mac with OC, but I didn't pay attention to them since I don't use it. I understand that the difficulty is having to read all those pages, Regarding audio failures, you can find comments in the forum of the OpenCore group on Mac on Facebook, I have also read something similar to what happens to you, several are mentioned cases about that when upgrading to Big Sur. I hope this helps you in something. Greetings
