Let me explain to those that lack some comprehension skills. The only announcement that Tim Cook should have made was, this is just a software only event and no hardware would be announced. That’s all he had to say. Everything else would’ve been mute from the rumor mills. Is that so hard to do? Is that so complicated to understand? He didn’t have to say anything about anything else except the HARDWARE part.
Worldwide Developer Conference implies that it's a software event. Stop taking unsubstantiated rumours as fact. No one promised you hardware. No one made you watch.

I dunno, to me it seemed like iOS/iPadOS 15 were developed entirely during WFH so maybe they weren't able to work as effectively? Like iOS 14 was being worked on throughout 2019 and up til early 2020 so they had all the resources possible.. This year was meh in all aspects really, like look at tv/mac/wearOS lol

Maybe I'm just being too hopeful.. but I think iOS 16 (and everything else) will be when you start to see the biggg features worth talking about.
Yet Apple employees are ticked off and lobbying to stay home and not come back in a few days a week as requested come fall.

I did not expect anything at WWDC. You can tell from the presentation, they were focused on things that would be great for those on lockdown. (Privacy as well) It was pretty much the theme of last year.

Apple will not show their cards with IPP until the MBP/MP unveil. My guess we will see redesigned Pro apps then and they will flex the capabilities of the M series of chips. Hopefully, then we can pray to see them give us these apps on the IPP.

If anyone thought there was going to be a drastic revision of iPad OS, its not going to happen for a few more years. There are TOO many older devices out there they need to EOL first.

Well reading that, I certainly am now. I cannot stand him. His arrogance is beyond measure.
You don't realize he is playing a (cocky) character in his show... Whether people like or dislike his humor, he is a really nice guy in real life (based on interviews and other videos where he does not play his character...)

Personally I am disappointed in no hardware but historically it is usually a software focused event and even prepared myself for no hardware beforehand.

Could the updates to the OS’s have been better… yes of course they could, but we have to remember Apple have been working around covid just like any other company and the result is software updates which are relatively lacklustre in comparison to previous releases.

I think we all have to appreciate apple done their best in a bad situation that has effected all of us world wide, just generally living has not been easy, never mind running a multi billion dollar business.

Except the US is opening up big time. They’re a year behind …..just like Apple Watch mask unlock coming as soon as many are vaccinated and ditching masks.

On an iPad? No it’s not. and I’m talking about the translate app itself being of little use on an iPad Compared to a built in calculator app. They did it with the remote app. Integrated it into control center. They could do the same with calculator. They put it on the damn Apple Watch ……the watch . But not a productivity device like iPad. It’s pathetic
You're clearly thinking about your own use case. Being able to copy foreign text in an app and paste it into the Translate app is a lifesaver if you ever want to talk to a foreigner online.

Apple showed their true colours today, the M1 iPad was nothing more than a easy marketing cash grab.

They basically gave their customers the middle finger, never seen anything more lacklustre than iOS/iPadOS 15, all that hype about the M1 and extra ram was never going to benefit us in the end.

Love my apple products, but I won’t be upgrading as often as I have in the past, it’s time apple started earning our money, leave out new features and hardware that can easily be added to new products, you won’t be getting my money from now on.

Everyone true colours eventually come out, apple showed theirs today in a BIG way.

And yet,India and other countries in the EU are suffering worse than ever.

While I agree Apple is slow to adopt, I can’t hop on them this go around.

FaceTime and Messages also got significant updates. Privacy was also heavily addressed. These are all very useful tools during a lockdown.

Rumors claimed these iPads were ready to go and postponed due to pandemic and chip shortages.

When you have a huge campus of employees on CA soil, do you expect them to work magic past the regulatory red tape?

It is what it is. Covid-19 and CA postponed months of development globally.

I shutter to think what it did to other companies.

At least they aren’t trying to sell nonexistent GPUs ?

I’m honestly curious as to what was expected.

Pandemic or not… what are you looking for on iPadOS?

This is not a bait question or snarky comment.

I’m honestly wondering from a technical standpoint what needs to be addressed on a short list.

Perhaps we can make a new thread with our top 10 lists.

What other option out there is better than iPad Pro M1 in the tablet space?

Surface & Galaxy Tab…. ?

Microsoft is said to show off Windows 11 soon…. Perhaps a ray of hope if your into that sort of thing.

It does stink that we have such a beast in the M1 that is throttled by software. I concede that fact without question.

Let’s see if the courts tear down the App Store rules. That could also have significant impact on things moving forward.

As the saying goes… Hurry up and Wait!

So people would rather Apple not make the iPad Pro as good (eg: less ram, slower processor) just because they themselves bought into internet hype.

But yeah sure, it’s Apple’s fault. Maybe as well blame them for every other natural disaster while you are at it.

internet hype? Or BS Apple marketing before it was released, Tim Cook acting like a clown during the iPad event and then apple own website can’t stop pumping up the M1 chip with how much it can do.

Keep defending them lol.

So what exactly did Apple promise that they didn’t deliver? I didn’t see anything of the sort being even remotely hinted at in the advertisements.

You still didn’t answer my question. What should Apple have done? Deliberately included less ram and a slower processor? Not update the iPad Pro at all? How would any of this have been pro-consumer?

Why shouldn’t I be happy that the iPad Pro comes with the latest tech that Apple has to offer, from 5g to thunderbolt to their own M1 chip? What exactly have I lost out here?

  1. Why do you attack anyone and everyone who has a different opinion?
  2. Why attack Apple for making a better product? Did they put a gun to your head (or anyones) and make them buy it?
  3. The M1 iPad is a better device than previous iterations
  4. Apple is moving everything to the M series of chips.
  5. Every company on the planet advertises so people want to buy the product.
  6. It's not Apple fault if a consumer does not do research and see if the product meets their needs.

Also, Apple does sell cheaper iPads you know.. So again, gun to head that forced a purchase?

Ease up man.. You don't need to attack anyone with a different opinion... I get it, you are not happy with the M1 iPad and it's advertising.. Get over it, move on and please try and relax a little...
