Forgive us who thought they might bring a calculator app and weather app to iPad after ten years ,which millions would get use out of daily. But instead they ported over translate…….TRANSLATE!?!?

The point is that people are getting pissed at how apple is choosing to concentrate their energy in a way that doesn’t make a ton of sense.

But if want to rant about this in another language on some other Mac website translate is going to be the killer feature! Or I could just continue to use dictation for whenever I need a chuckle.

Don’t agree, apple is to blame, they shouldn’t of mislead people by releasing a iPad with 16gb ram when they dont Even intend on doing anything with all that power.

Cash grab plain and simple.

There is nothing misleading. Somit has more ram. No promise to that function was given. End of story. The rest is all guesswork in your head, joyfully ignoring weeks of people cautioning what you wrote and the 11 years of iPads and WWDCs that came with it.

You’ve been all over the place trolling (derailing threads) how the iPad is a beast and true love and wwdc would also change everything. Now here you go again. Guess you’re returning. Lol.

You forgot the felt 1000 posts about the bloomers and what terrible people they are. Yup, all the same kid.

While true I have my doubt that they’ll announce anything of ipad significance later this week.

“Oh guys, one more thing, the M1 iPads will now run macOS” is unlikely.

Another typical day in iPad land where nothing happened other than the hardware hit quicker.
It’s all about managing expectations.

Well said.

It’s a developer conference. Of course it’s all about software.

Thanks I’ll comment on what I want.

I dunno, if Apple is slow to add RAM because people don't need more, people complain. Then they add RAM, and people complain that they don't need it.

This must be your first Apple event.

Lets be honest; I managed my expectations, they could have easily gave us better multitasking, a proper file manager, monitor support without black bars and limited “Pro“ apps (Give me something so I can start working on the go but limited enough to buy a MacBook too).

If that’s the case, then we’re all doomed ?‍♂️?
No, we’re not ALL doomed. Certain folks may “feel” doomed, but the world isn’t going to end, Apple’s going to continue to do “things”, and ome of those things I’ll enjoy, some of those things I’ll never use. Same as it ever was.

I am running iPadOS 15 Beta now on my 2018 12.9 and though the changes were insignificant for the most part over iPadOS 14, the Home Screen changes, Safari changes, and multitasking changes do make it feel fresh. A very disappointing release for those who purchased M1 iPad Pros and expecting big things.

As a side, I like the new multitasking shortcuts a lot more than I thought I would.

I remember the good old days when people used to complain that iPads didn’t have enough RAM.

Some things change (the amount of RAM on iPads), and some things don’t.

Tapatalk doesn't support multi-quote as far as I can tell. I guess the suggestion I would give is to use Safari or a different browser when you need to reply to several posts at once.

Sorry with 300+ posts that’s not feasible. We’ll have to scroll just a tad more in return. Wish it would change on the app of course but not sure they’ll put on the effort at this stage.

Now people are getting more RAM, but complaining too much RAM as no no apps could utilise the extra RAM.

They could do things differently for sure. Wether or not that’s easy for them to do, I can only guess. But the powerhouse of iPad Pro is around for half a decade now, so I certainly don’t expect dramatic changes on such an established platform anymore. At least from Apple.

It would be very interesting to see if jailbreakers can put MacOS on the iPad Pro. :)

Maybe not but you can have two apps that use 5GB each or a bunch of smaller apps. I'm more likely to do the latter than the former anyway.

My frustration is that the Mac is unsuited to part of my workflow, which involves using the Pencil to mark up long texts for editing, while the iPad is unsuited to most of the rest of my workflow, which involves lots of multitasking and pulling together information from a large number of sources in disparate formats.

Now that the iPad and Mac share an architecture, it’s deeply frustrating that Apple won’t unshackle it.

One of the things that annoys me most is that they get the basic concept — they’ve put some work into getting iOS apps running on Macs. But if you suggest that maybe that could go the other way suddenly people think you’ve lost your mind. I don’t get it.

Apple tells these folks to buy the literal same “computer” in two form factors, because it’s for their own good and a single, more capable device would just be too confusing for their tiny minds to make sense of, and they just throw their money at them in return, as if they’re grateful for the opportunity. Seems a bit cultish to me.
In my case, I have the iMac 27" 2013 and the iPad Pro 12.9". Then I have a MacBook Pro 13" 2017 on loan.

I use the MacBook Pro for a few things (for a program for my work and some Word stuff that limits me on the iPad).

But I find the iPad much more suitable for my daily workflow.

I don't want macOS on the iPad, because I don't think it's the right OS for an iPad. I want an iPad Pro with macOS apps, adapted to the iPad's aesthetics and touch environment. I especially get very frustrated using Office on iOS, much more limited and limited than macOS Office.

I’m honestly curious as to what was expected.

Pandemic or not… what are you looking for on iPadOS?

This is not a bait question or snarky comment.

I’m honestly wondering from a technical standpoint what needs to be addressed on a short list.

Perhaps we can make a new thread with our top 10 lists.

What other option out there is better than iPad Pro M1 in the tablet space?

Surface & Galaxy Tab…. ?

Microsoft is said to show off Windows 11 soon…. Perhaps a ray of hope if your into that sort of thing.

It does stink that we have such a beast in the M1 that is throttled by software. I concede that fact without question.

Let’s see if the courts tear down the App Store rules. That could also have significant impact on things moving forward.

As the saying goes… Hurry up and Wait!
Pro app support, true second monitor support.

Right now even though the ipad pro has the M1 and all that, it doesn’t have any software support you can’t find on any other ipad

If you’re a gamer the new iPad Pro plays Divinity: Original Sin at 60fps while the older Pros play at 30fps. Not much but it’s something.

True external monitor support is easily the biggest thing I'd like to see on it, closely followed by a Files app that is robust and not so freaking slow accessing external devices. For pro apps, I am really looking forward to the recently announced iPad version of Capture One - but will it be feature complete or stripped down like Photoshop? Multi-tasking was cleaned up a bit and is not as clunky as before, but could still be improved a lot.
