OP, you have been kissing Apple’s ass for weeks and now suddenly you’re mad? Let me ask you a serious question: Do you even use “Pro” apps? Nobody baited and switched you. People bought these iPads because they wanted an iPad not a freakin’ Mac. If you’re so hard pressed for Pro apps then get a Mac. Apple never intended to merge MacOS and iPadOS. Simple as that. If you’re so butt-hurt about it return your iPad. I don’t think any of us will mind.

If I had to guess, I'd say he / she purchased based on rumors.. Had he / she waited for info to come direct from the horses mouth, maybe he / she would not be so angry and lashing out at everyone... Maybe.......

The Sillie Con Valley
I’ve been told that the actors in the shows and the engineers making the OS are, in fact, different groups of people.
Don’t believe everything you’ve been told.
Apple never intended to merge MacOS and iPadOS.
In fact, since the day the iPP was announced, senior department heads have taken great pains to point out that the two will not be merged.

So what exactly did Apple promise that they didn’t deliver? I didn’t see anything of the sort being even remotely hinted at in the advertisements.

You still didn’t answer my question. What should Apple have done? Deliberately included less ram and a slower processor? Not update the iPad Pro at all? How would any of this have been pro-consumer?

Why shouldn’t I be happy that the iPad Pro comes with the latest tech that Apple has to offer, from 5g to thunderbolt to their own M1 chip? What exactly have I lost out here?
We’re just going to keep going around in circles, believe what you want and others will believe what they want. Plenty of people believe this was nothing more than a cash grab.

Why do you attack anyone and everyone who has a different opinion?
Haven’t attacked anyone, they have a opinion and I’m disagreeing, where have I threatened or attacked anyone?

Surly they’ve got someone already at the helm who doesn’t agree with what his doing.
Ok, well you’ve seen the Keynotes and the Apple Events… OR, just look over the leadership page. Who there do you think would do anything different from the current CEO? They all appear to be cut from the same cloth to me.

If that’s the case, then we’re all doomed ?‍♂️?

Gotta be in it to win it

For those people who believe this iPad Pro is a cash grab they won’t buy it, others will. Apple doesn’t care what is written about this model on a forum.

  1. Why do you attack anyone and everyone who has a different opinion?
  2. Why attack Apple for making a better product? Did they put a gun to your head (or anyones) and make them buy it?
  3. The M1 iPad is a better device than previous iterations
  4. Apple is moving everything to the M series of chips.
  5. Every company on the planet advertises so people want to buy the product.
  6. It's not Apple fault if a consumer does not do research and see if the product meets their needs.

Also, Apple does sell cheaper iPads you know.. So again, gun to head that forced a purchase?

Ease up man.. You don't need to attack anyone with a different opinion... I get it, you are not happy with t he M1 iPad and it's advertising.. Get over it, move on and please try and relax a little...
Like it or not he he's a point. That marketing stuff plus the fact that they are selling it putting weight in the RAM when no app can take advantage of it, makes it ilegal here in Quebec allowing me to claim the legal warranty to return it.

My only problem is that I don’t know what to buy, sold my iPad Pro 2018 to get the M1 and my MacBook Pro back in November. Maybe a Mac mini? Thoughts?

If you already have a M1 MacBook Pro, I’d wait for the redesigned pros rumoured for the second half of the year.

At least Apple build their products to last for years - with support. Today's iPad Pros with the M1 and 8GB - 16GB RAM will be able to run for 5 years flawlessly. And for alot of consumers this is important as the investment is worth it and they aren't looking to upgrade every year.

I think the Pro's exist for creatives/artists and are unmatched even by the Surface Pro's in many ways. As the market leaders, Apple don't really need to do anymore than they are.
Exactly. My 12.9” 2017 iPad Pro is still more than powerful enough to run iPadOS ?

Apple showed their true colours today, the M1 iPad was nothing more than a easy marketing cash grab.

They basically gave their customers the middle finger, never seen anything more lacklustre than iOS/iPadOS 15, all that hype about the M1 and extra ram was never going to benefit us in the end.

Love my apple products, but I won’t be upgrading as often as I have in the past, it’s time apple started earning our money, leave out new features and hardware that can easily be added to new products, you won’t be getting my money from now on.

Everyone true colours eventually come out, apple showed theirs today in a BIG way.

Cry me a river.

So after drenching the boards with endless milk and honey promises that WWDC would blow everyone’s minds, now you‘re disappointed and you’re drenching them again with post after post of vinegar and bile.

Maybe focusing on something else for a while would do yourself and the rest of us some good.

Very well said. But these folks never get it.

the M1 chip and extra ram was only introduced for easy sales, nothing more, nothing less, stop defending them.

It’s a direct successor to the chips they used in iPads for years. Named slightly different so that you feel better.

I always take WWDC previews with a grain of salt because there might be more coming where they can't show their hands to unannounced products. Happens with the iPhone often.

While true I have my doubt that they’ll announce anything of ipad significance later this week.

“Oh guys, one more thing, the M1 iPads will now run macOS” is unlikely.

Someone posts their opinion about feeling let down and here comes the horde of fanboys trashing ones opinion.
Its because of fanboys, who would gladly buy turd wrapped in whatever Apple would market it wrapped in for the price of gold and still feel morally superior, were getting such subpar OS update. Thats funny.

On a side note, seeing how little is being offered with iPadOS 15 and taking into consideration that miniLED in 12.9 looks more like disaster to happen in longer term on certain iPads, Im considering cancelling my 12.9 order and get either 2020 on sale(locally it seems that those have been sold out already) or Air 4 or 11 M1 at best.

Its not that I had exorbitant hopes, but putting M1 and then offering it with 8/16GB of RAM and giving us such a poor OS update is just sad, no true external display support, no desktop level multi tasking, limited files support(AFAIK). I dont think it was unreasonable for people to expect Mac level features with such monstrous power on a tablet.
It might have been tho, to expect it from Apple.

Another typical day in iPad land where nothing happened other than the hardware hit quicker.
It’s all about managing expectations.

This op spent days posting continuously about how today would transform the ipad pros, and anyone with doubts would essentially eat their words. Well the expectations were too high, unrealistic and Apple are in it for money period. They have a very long road map planned with minor incremental updates year on year, just like they have been doing since Steve Jobs rescued them from the edge of oblivion. This year is no different. They are still a design company first and consumer led - it is working.

It's OK to be disappointed, I also have been because I had bought into the idea that the "next thing" would be amazing and change my world. Apple make great products but nothing changes that much from the year before. I've been waiting years to be able to get a damn iPhone I can use because OLED wrecks my eyes, but Apple could care less. You just have to be realistic, grounded and buy what you need because these products are tools.

Well said.

Apple could have announced that it would be software only if they had any decency. No big deal if they made one small announcement so that Youtubers / customers and leakers could focus elsewhere. That would be the decent thing to do.

It’s a developer conference. Of course it’s all about software.
