Now that I came back after 3 hours the external monitor woke up without any delay.
So the only remaining problem is that if I leave it open for the whole night, I have to use the on/off switch when I wake up.

Some forum moderator, could you advise the MacRumos authors to write something about it, a dedicated article so we make it go around the web so that everyone can know (even Apple)?

Apple is breaking our habits of not testing software before releasing it. Big Sur is a complete failure!

Look, they don't give a **** about testing .. Only thing what matter is $$$$ and that's it .. Nothing else..
The company's policy is that out of 100 million units of MBP sold, only 10 million clients will complain about problem with resolution.

So now You know .. They'll fix it sometime, but they don't care much about it ..

sundress I can see you have the same monitor as me. It's a pity to see that the latest beta 11.3 doesn't fix anything either. Apple doesn't give a sh*t. The strangest thing is that the same LG monitor, but the 89-W model does not have this problem. I tested several times. From what I can see, monitors that support HDR have problems, but I can be wrong. Anyway, I'm staying with Catalina. Once again, F*ck You Apple!

I think about the same. Their system and hardware are starting to be terrible crap.
A case with a butterfly keyboard, peeling off screen, battery problems, throttling and poor heat dissipation in a 13 inch mbp, many others issues can be mentioned ..

I'm currently working on a cheap Lenovo Legion Y540-17IRH, which has much stronger components for a much lower price, no problems ..

We start ticking the articles on the web, even MacRumors has heard us and has published his.

Guys let's hear, Apple is really a shame, doesn't give a damn about the pros and releases lousy software!

Big Sur is the worst release of all time with a very serious bug that has been creating enormous inconvenience for over 2 months! Legally it is not conceivable, because they have removed a feature that we PAID!

We keep contacting Apple to hope they resolve!

All the web and blogs have written an article about this absurd, still unsolved bug.
Apple needs to fix it soon! I think at this point he is aware of it!
Apple are creating enormous damage and decreasing our productivity because you do not deign to test the software before releasing it, especially for such an important aspect, all this for 2 months and who knows how long it will last. A SHAME!
Never seen such a thing.

M1 Macbook Air with BenQ el2870u.

I bought an HDMI/USB-C 4k@60hz adapter. It seems like 60hz is working but my screen goes blank (loses connection) every 2-3 minutes or so. The adapter does get really hot. I'm wondering if this is an adapter issue or MacOS issue? I'm on MacOS 11.2.

I have same issue, but my LG4K monitor turns off less often (every 10/15 min) blink's with Satechi Adapter 2xUSB-C to 2x HDMI.. Oddly enough, adapter also connects to the LG 55CX 120Hz OLED panel which does not show this problem.

Unfortunately, both monitors are detected incorrectly:
Zrzut ekranu 2021-02-6 o 13.42.41.png

LG TV SSCR is 55"
LG HDR 4K is 32"

And regardless of whether I connect an original apple adapter or third-party adapter, OSX send incorrect information about displays..

Macbook pro with 64GB RAM 2TB HDD i9 Processor can't display 4k HDR at 60hz!!!!! $4800 for this machine and it can't even run a 4k display!

You right, this is ridiculous, and it looks like Apple can't handle.
Apple should send all of us the original USB-C to HDMI adapters for free (4 usb-c ports, 4 free adapters) !

One more problem I observed, if I turn off and on one of the monitors, something like this appears on the other screen:

Zrzut ekranu 2021-02-6 o 14.03.01.png

The bottom of the screen moves to the top, only after sleeping and waking up the system or restart, everything returns to normal.

Is there a way to completely erase the external display from my machine and start over? Like I want to delete all profiles and that the display options sees my external 4K monitor.

In general i agree with that its a nogo apple don't care about that but:
1) i got the original hdmi adapter by apple for free
2) i just have to press a button on my external keyboard or mouse and my computer awake. i don't see any difference with hdmi or usb-c.

in my case its even the opposite because the lg monitor provide just 60 Watt with power deliver over usb-c. it should be enough for a MBP 16 in idle but in most of the cases it made always problems after waking up (black screen, usb-devices connected to the monitor are not working). I had always to disconnect and connect the monitor until everything was working. with the apple adapter i can use my original apple power adapter with 96W which is working very well. before i had to plug it in on a second usb-c port to avoid the wake up problems.

This should not excuse apples bad support but the fact is the only thing what we can do is currently to use this solution which is not the worst.
With the adapter its even possible to use a single port solution and there is no limitation of hdmi compared to DP(usb-c) or tb connections.
Btw i don't think it will be ever fixed. They didn't cared about that with 11.2 so they will not care about it later (this is my experience). I wait for an apple watch unlock fix since years (slow/unusuable wifi if apple watch unlock is activated).

Hi I want to spread the notice that Apple support firmly refuses to give the USB-C - AV digital free of charge. I called from Italy and also underlying that the problem is wide spread around the world, they said that there isn't the possibility to get free of charge the adapter.

So the unique option is to take legal action against Apple.
Let me say that this option is very complex for this kind of problem.

After 20 years with OSX I am seriously considering to come back to Windows...
Simply incredible.

Do not believe it, Apple's ridiculous attitude.
Something must be done, we must report this behavior.
It is not possible that due to their incompetence, now we cannot use something we have paid so much for! Really sucks! Apple is no longer for professionals! Unfortunately, that's the way it is. This Big Sur was never to be released! A filthy garbage!

Please report this problem to Apple: https://www.apple.com/feedback/macos.html

The more complaints that are made directly to Apple, the more seriously the problem will be taken.

In a normal company that cares about its customers, one report is enough and the testing department starts verifying, since we are dealing with a complex product (both hardware and software can be the cause), let's add 1000 more reports (I believe that this line has long been exceeded). And what ?

Nothing .. Next release change nothing. It looks like the future release does not focus on this issue either.

You really believe that Apple is not aware of the problem ? :)

So this seems to be an issue with LG and some BenQ screens? Whereas Samsung seems to be OK. Mine are.

Apple is of course aware of it, but it is a bug that probably goes very deep. I had a similar issue with Catalina on an unsupported Mac Pro.

Say that you want to speak with a manager and you don't accept it. You have to be able to work and this is not possible anymore.
Ofc you would need a valid apple care contract else you will not get anything because apple was never accomodating. So if they don't have to do anything they will not do anything. But if you have apple care they have to offer you a valid solution.
