Yep it is almost at the point of entertainment that people hate the red dot so much. After you put the LTE on you hardly ever see the red dot. If you are traveling with friends who chastise you for the dot not matching your band or socks . . . . well you need new friends!

FWIW, a lot of us prefer wearing the Watch with the crown on the "wrong" side, so the dot is in the field of vision.

To me, it's just a matter of taste. I usually only buy watches that are all black or black and steel, so I'm not interested in the splash of color, but I guess WatchDots are a solution.

I'm amazed that this thread has grown to 20+ pages! If you hate the red dot so much, why did you buy the watch?? Did you think the dot would disappear after buying? Did you not notice it until it arrived after preordering it and think you did not have the option to return it? Do you just like to complain? I just don't get it.

I have the AppleWatch Series 3 in stainless steel and I couldn't care less that it's got the red dot! I love this watch, as I loved my SS Series 0, but I would not have bought it if I thought I'd be so upset looking at it that I'd have to complain. I like the design and performance. In my mind, it's not meant to compare or compete with a Patek Phillipe, Cartier, Rolex or other high end watch. If I go somewhere that I need a dressier watch, I change my watch to one that is dressier.

Really people, with everything that is going on in our country and in the world, don't let a little red dot stress you out!

Obviously you are new to the Apple world. Lol

When Apple change the icon to iTunes one would have sworn Apple abruptly shuttered their doors.

I own the watch, it's the one thing I'd change about it. I was paying for something using Apple Pay today, I spotted the button and realised how bad it looks.
Apple should have put the red dot only on the sport models. Then people who are more mature would have sprung for SS models and spent more money.

Actually, no. I've been an Apple convert since the early 90's. I just find this to be sillier than most of the Apple hiccups . o_O

I bought the SS.
That's what I would expect.
More mature people go for the SS and hate the red dot on their SS watch.
Younger people with sport watch won't hate it as much. If they hated it enough they would just spend more money and get a SS instead.

I bought mine primarily for sport purposes and haaaaaate the red dot. I still wouldn’t buy SS, too heavy and I don’t like the shine. The black Watchdot XL fixed it for me, though!

I think Apple chose the color red, because They really wanted it to stand out. Which also indicates to me this was supposed to be strictly a fashion statement. I actually don't mind the red dot and I can understand for those who do not appreciate it or certainly don't care for the color red in general. But given how Apple wants the Apple Watch to be a fashion statement as well, red would be the most obvious color to stand out.

It’s ok, would be better a darker red and not quite so bright.
Strange. I have an Edition gray, Series 3 AW, and the red dot looks quite subdued to me, not at all bright but almost burgundy. I would hardly have noticed the feature if it weren't for this weird thread.

What? Talk about ageism.

That’s Bc it is bright red. And that guy woulda 100% noticed it whether this was a thread or not. Lol. How can anyone not notice a bright red dot on the side of a watch?

Probably because it's only two or three millimeters in diameter and most people don't spend their days staring at their own, or other people's, wrists.

The entertainment level is very high on this thread.
I find it entertaining. Not as much as threads talking about which watch has the highest resale potential though.

So you are saying people go out and buy apple watches without at all realizing there is a red dot on it ? That’s my point. Of course they notice it. Whether they like it or not is not my point.

Just bought the SS LTE SB, wore it for the first time and immediately somebody noticed the red dot and asked how I like my “new” watch. Then another person did the same.

I think I’m liking the attention..LOL!
