I'm guessing people will be flocking to this site to buy stickers to cover it up. https://shop.watchdots.com/
The thing is, after checking the sites, I cannot find any color of dots to match my gold aluminum Apple Watch. No color could blend it well. Just no. That gold looks ugly in comparison.Well you can always get a set of WatchDots, they have lots of colors to use on the Stem and also the side switch.

At least it does not obstruct the screen or anything. It’s just a poor cosmetic choice. But I agree that design team has become increasingly lazy. It's hideous, out of place, and distracting. Just like the notch on the iPhone X. The design team has lost their minds.
You cannot possibly be serious. Is $70 really something over which someone says "I have money" or, especially, "I have money, possibly more than you"? In a world of $1300 iPhones and $50,000 cars, $70 is barely a rounding error. Many people spend more than that at Starbucks every week of the year.
I'm totally owning the red dot!
Me too! Wish it was BIGGER!
But I think everybody has a different perspective of how they choose to spend their money and how it benefits them. (Cost vs Benefit ratio).

Yeah, I have the same complaint— if they had one that matched the gold, I’d do that. Heck, right now they don’t even have a silver (I have two watches). And plus, the ugly gold one doesn’t come in the XL size to cover up the red dot. I’ve thought about maybe white. Maybe black. But... in terms of viewing angle, it seems like people probably wouldn’t see the red dot much?
No, I know I don’t see it. I meant other people. Because if my arms are facing that direction, with the dot outward, it seems like it would be while moving them around. The red dot faces away from you if you wear it on your left in the usual way, so you don't see it.

I noticed, but didn't want to make you feel self conscious. Don't worry, we rarely talk about it behind your back. Most of us have grown accustomed to it by now.I have had the 3 from the very start and NO One has ever noticed I changed from Version 2, or ever made a comment about the dot.
Conveniently ignoring the $180/yr cost for cellular.
Do the watch dots actually work or tend to fall off with a little use?

$180 dollars a year may not sound like a lot but it’s paying 45% of the cost of a new Apple Watch annually, for a watch you already bought.Oh, well...sure, $180 over a year changes everything.
If you make $8K a year.
We're talking about $2 per day...roughly one quarter of the daily tolls on the Mass Pike from Route 128 to Boston.
Giving this idea a nod, though, I will admit that the red crown sort of calls to mind les talons rouges, the 18th century French courtiers who wore red heels to let others know that they were nobles. But I just can't put a ~3mm red dot in that category.
Actually, a serious question: how did Apple color the crown? Is it paint (that you could remove with a fingernail or equivalent)? Is it in fact just a sticker? Has anyone tried anything more radical than putting a sticker over the red dot?

We know it's not a sticker, because if it was, that would defeat the purpose for using Watch dots, which is a sticker that covers up the red digital crown. And if the red dot was a sticker, you would have A large majority of Apple Watch owners peeling it off.
I also researched what the red dot was manufactured of, and I could not find any evidence supporting it otherwise.
Otherwise, some have use a black sharpie marker to cover it up.
