OK, that makes more sense and is good.
Yay!
Yep, you got it.
Double yay!
From the sounds of things it doesn't make sense why you have an issue. Having a combined router/modem should make life easier as you only have one source for dhcp.
Agreed.
Is the switch configurable? If so, is it using dhcp too? All the devices should basically have consecutive (or similar) ip addresses. Eg my network is 192.168.1
- .1 modem
- .2 AExpress router
- .3 Notebook 1
- .4 Notebook 2
- .5 Ipad
- .6 Iphone 1
- .7 Iphone 2
- .8 ATV2
Can you ping them all from different devices?
All get a 192.168.1.xx address and I can ping, map drives, etc etc, no address problems whatsoever.
If the switch is configurable it should be bridged and not using dhcp.
Good question-I'll go and check on the exact model now (it's a Belkin 24 port), but I've never had an issue with anything network.IP related since the day it went it.
For my AExpress as a client connected to the hifi I have a simple setup:
- Join a wireless network
- Allow Ethernet clients
- Nothing on Internet tab - bridged is greyed out.
- Only 'Enable iTunes' checked on music tab..
- nothing on print or advanced tabs
I'm happy for you to take a look using Teamviewer if that helps?
I am not sure if someone asked this before but it HomeSharing ON the PC iTunes?
It is and I can play music through my iPhone and iPad from my (hard wired) PC's iTunes library, using the "Remote" app.
The only other thought I have is that the modem/router may be running/configured separately even thought its in the one box. Does it show what brand model it really is?
It's a Thomson of some description.
Or you could connect you PC to the network via wireless instead![]()
I guess so, but surely I shouldn't have to?
