1.Clean OS.Check
2.Timely updates.Check (with an added advantage of ability to downgrade)
3.Google design philiosophy just like iPhone has Apple's design philosophy.Check
4.Reliability and monthly security updates.Check

If you count unofficial support,Nexus devices last longer than iPhones.Galaxy Nexus from 2011 is still supported with custom Cyanogen Nougat ROM.iPhone 4S will never run iOS 10 unofficially
Like the companies using windows XP in a production environment? I guess you can do it.

Nothing wrong with $50 Android phone. My ~$40 Moto G1 is equivalent to an iPhone 6 but has a white Japan Display Inc (JDI) panel instead of a piss yellow panel that comes with many iPhone 7 and it doesn't hiss on video recordings. And, even Android 5.1 is more advanced and stable than the beta in progress iOS 10.
Although I do believe Samsung's OLED absolutely destroys iPhone LCD in color accuracy and vibrancy the Phone LCD is still of a very high quality probably one of the best if not the best. They just need to increase the resolution to 1600P like HTC did.It blows away the Moto G LCD irrespective.I dont deny it has a yellow tint at the top though but Apple's OLED move next year should solve that problem

I would rename the iPhone 8 as the iPhone 8S for just the OLED transition.Thats how much I believe the experience will improve

Are you getting a pixel device
If it looks like an iPhone rip off like the leaks are telling us then no.Google needs to realise that if I wanted an iPhone I would buy an iPhone. They should have taken inspiration from the Galaxy Note 7 and the S7 edge which are the design leaders in the smartphone category

Huh?This isnt even remotely related to my comment.A Windows laptop from 2008 running XP can run Windows 10.A Galaxy Nexus from 2011 running ICS can run Marshmallow.Thats the thing I love about Windows and stock Android. Its MY device.I can do whatever I want with it

And if you think flashing is difficult on a Nexus,it isnt.As easy as Step 1 Step 2 Step 3.Done.I used to use Wug Nexus Root Toolkit iirc and I was shocked at how easy it was.Exactly as difficult as flashing ipsw on iTunes using that Shift button combination

"Destroys" is just more hyperbole.

And this wasn't remotely related to my comment and yes my response was on point. I don't want "unofficial" support for my device, I want "official" support. See the difference? It's not about Windows 10. And I don't find the galaxy to be better looking than the iPhone. Back to "facts" about something purely subjective. I bought the best for me.

'Destroys' suggests there is a gulf of difference and from my own personal experience I would say the OLED is more vibrant in regards to brighter colours whereas the LCD gives a more accurate colour display. Both are good pieces of technology but I don't think the differences are massive to be honest. You'd make a good sales rep.

As long as it has a clear, sharp display I don't care what tech they use to accomplish it.

There are a lot of great reasons to get both phones. They both have features and plus and minuses.
It just depends on which will fit your useage and lifestyle the best. I have both a Note 7 and 7+ and really enjoy them both!
Business and personal I would suppose, otherwise why would anyone need more than one phone.

I don't count unofficial support in this. Why should the user have to flash a ROM to get security updates for the fourth year?

I have a nexus 7 (2013 model) which I recently put away in the drawer since it is now unsupported. I'm disappointed that the latest Android version was not made available for it. I wasn't going to go thru the trouble of 'flashing a ROM' since I've never done anything like that before and was not interested in learning how to do it.

Time, because it rules EVERYTHING!
So, not due to the recall, but outside of that, what would be a reason to get the iPhone 7 plus over the Note 7?

I currently have the Note 7 and do really like it, but it has been recalled and I have the ability to switch to the iPhone 7 Plus. I seem to bounce back and forth between Android and iOS and can never feel fully satisfied with either one.

The Note 7 will get fixed, so wondering what reasons you think are the main reasons to go with the 7 plus over the Note 7 since the Note 7 on paper, and even in some hardware features are more impressive than the 7 Plus?

Note 7 has a better screen, wireless and fast charging, better waterproofing. The camera system may end up being a wash, although I do like the telephoto lens on the new 7 Plus. Just wondering if there were reasons you'd pick the 7 plus over the Note 7 besides saying it doesn't explode. Looking for some constructive feedback. I'm getting the itch to come back to iPhone, but not really unsatisfied with the the Note 7.

Thanks everyone!

Personal preference is THE ONLY REASON YOU WILL BUY EITHER PHONE FACT!!!

I can sit here and argue the merits of one of the other all day like some do, but they BOTH do the same thing equally as well.

I have been swapping back and forth between my S7E and the iPhone 7+ and it has been great but I also find it slightly tedious swapping simcards back and forth. I think I'm going to downscale to just one device for simplicity sake and see how I feel in a few months time.

What does your weekly smartphone routine look like? Is it an even split between the iPhone and Note 7 or is one solely the weekend phone?

You know it varies day to day. I love them both and could not for the life of me choose between them. I have been an iphone user since day one and probably use an iphone more than any one Android phone to be honest. For me Samsung phones offer what I want in an Android phone. But I love my OP3 too.

I used to use my N7 when I would go anywhere because of the camera and waterproofing. Now though the 7+ has a great camera and waterproofing. So i will try to split between them := )

If it was hyperbole Apple wouldnt be switching to it next year.I can already hear Tim saying "Its the best display we have ever shipped on the iPhone. It will blow you away"

Who cares? As long as its on the latest version.iPhone 4S users are stuck on iOS 9 while at least some users of Galaxy Nexus are on MM.

I am a sucker for OLED.lol.But really I feel the iPhone LCD looks boring and washed out once you look at an OLED.For me its a whole new experience

Apple is not going with the current oversaturatured oled, thankfully. But since we're into hyperboles, why are we talking of la phone that is from 2011? 5 years old and gets a current operating system. What android device from 2011 gets the same?

Guess who is their prime supplier of that display?Hint-Its the company who made the display above.

Also are you calling the best display on the planet oversaturated?Talk about bias..

Point is iPhone 4S users are stuck on iOS 9 with lags everywhere while Galaxy Nexus users are merrily switching between different versions.Same applies for Nexus 7 2012,Nexus 5 2013 etc

That's neither a note 7 or an iPhone 7.

Did you know that Apple has bought a display research company and that they contract out for custom chip manufacturer. That's why Apple uses the a10 rather than exynos. And talk about bias is right.

So an 5 year iPhone 4s running the latest operating system lags like a new s7 or note 7 running the latest operating system with current hardware. Got it.

Then post displays comparisons between the note 7 and the iPhone 7 plus.

You need to stop derailing the thread.
From what i have seen i like 7 Plus better. Looks rich, but not overblown. I remember one demo where there is that green snake and i know it doesn't look like that, so i went to a zoo and it looks nothing like it. It's green, but not overblown lettuce green like on oled.

That's fair enough. Like yourself I've compared them side by side and feel the difference is there but pretty minimal. If Apple go OLED as rumoured I won't mind either way but I would not state right now which device has the better screen. I've seen reviews that say the Galaxy Note 7 has the best screen on a phone, yet my buying habits always place OS before hardware.

Using extremely rare possible issues is hardly something for anyone to concern themselves about. (Unless it's a safety issue)

You mean a current OS that doesn't include 95% of the features and still degrades the performance, but you have to upgrade anyway for the sole purpose of app compatibility. I'm sure users that hold on to their iPhones are estactic.

My 4S is a dresser draw filler, and my iPad 2 is just a damn good Alarm clock.
