The Note 7 uses the same CPU as the much older Galaxy 7. I wouldn't even call the the Note 7 an upgrade over the G7. It's an old device in my opinion. History will show that aside from the battery issue, the Note 7 will be a flop. At least with Apple, the iPhone has a faster processor and camera. I think a better comparison would be the iPhone 7 vs Galaxy 7.

Much older? They are not even a year apart. Being a little over dramatic?

And the auto focus on the S7 and Note 7 is still faster than the iPhone 7 and every other phone.

So, not due to the recall, but outside of that, what would be a reason to get the iPhone 7 plus over the Note 7?

I currently have the Note 7 and do really like it, but it has been recalled and I have the ability to switch to the iPhone 7 Plus. I seem to bounce back and forth between Android and iOS and can never feel fully satisfied with either one.

The Note 7 will get fixed, so wondering what reasons you think are the main reasons to go with the 7 plus over the Note 7 since the Note 7 on paper, and even in some hardware features are more impressive than the 7 Plus?

Note 7 has a better screen, wireless and fast charging, better waterproofing. The camera system may end up being a wash, although I do like the telephoto lens on the new 7 Plus. Just wondering if there were reasons you'd pick the 7 plus over the Note 7 besides saying it doesn't explode. Looking for some constructive feedback. I'm getting the itch to come back to iPhone, but not really unsatisfied with the the Note 7.

Thanks everyone!
Cant think of any.

lol, more like what, 5 months apart? But for some here, thats going thru 3-4 different phones already. Too expensive a habit and hassle for me.

what do you wish you could customize in iOS?

Many things but for example, take my home screen (attached) - the google search bar at top is launch by a swipe down on the screen and it pulls up the keyboard so its ready for a search query in the next stroke.

I like to be able to see my full schedule in a week view which is useful info to me.

I like to keep only the essential icons on my home screen so they don't create clutter BUT each one of them launches two different apps depending on how I interact with them.

The rest of my apps are a swipe up away.

Settings are a double tap on my screen away.

And there is so much more. This is just some of the home screen options. You can't do a fraction of this stuff on ios. You're stuck with large icons.

Android is freedom unlike iOS that's like living in North Korea. You can probably write a book on simple personalizations like home screen, default apps, etc. to advanced customizations like Automagic and Tasker.

lol so you'd prefer android because you can change things on your home screen

Yes, personalizing my home screen to show only the icons, info and widgets I want vs iOS way of throwing poop at the wall.

Why is that so hard to believe? You pay at least $650 for this thing, why wouldn't you want to set it up exactly how it'll serve your needs best? You get to do that on your laptop/desktop and I'm sure you're happy about it and take advantage of it, why not on your phone (which in many ways can be more powerful)? You interact with this device so many times every day, why not make it your own and maximize what it can do for you?

i just don't see anything wrong with the way it's already set; you can move apps, delete stock apps now with iOS 10...you can set it to zoom or standard view if you don't want 'em so big or small. what more could you possibly need? i think some people will just never be satisfied and continue to complain about the stupidest things. :(

Tough to imagine as long as you stick with iOS and not experience something better. Its why i stopped using iPhones. Lacking things that are useful on Android that you may never see and when you do get them years later, iOS users think it is the greatest thing. Imagine that!

Its not about never being satisfied but rather settling for less when you can have more. There are some things i dont use on Android like wireless charging and dont use NFC much at all but iots there. But i do use others things often like split screen and sharing from any app, customization, etc.

wow, people take this personally. As i stated before, i have used either an iMac or MBP as my only computer. I even have the apple router, so i really like Apple. The phone is another issue.

If Apple has made it easier to put files onto the phone since i last had an iPhone, i will be happy. If they make me have to use "photos" to be able to put files ONTO my phone, i won't be happy. I don't want to have to waste space with TWO separate photo catalogues.

But again, i may be in the minority. I edit my files, and then put them onto the phone to show people, as i am a photographer.

It definitely helps to have experience with both ecosystems to understand the differences and perhaps a prerequisite for participating in this sub-forum. If you were a stock investor you wouldn't be saying a custom stock ticker that shows your investments isn't valuable. That's what Android personalization is while customization is on a whole other level.

the first thing i tell someone who wants to try switching to android. is i tell them to write down a few things you found that your iphone couldn't do. like maybe places were your applepay didn't want to work, or when you tried share a movie that is on your phone, or tired to do 2 things at the same time. then go get yourself that android phone and check off that list all the things your couldn't do with your iphone. and only then will you see android just works when others errrr iphones don't

I ordered a 7+ yesterday but have since cancelled it. I'm going to wait for the note 7 to re stock before I decide which to go with.
Only issue I'm worried about is that when it comes time to sell the note 7, Samsung already don't hold their value like the iPhone but I foresee re sale of the note 7 being hit hard due to this battery problem.

I should add, I don't see phones as an investment, it's just that I change phones yearly and the resale money makes it easier to stay sim free without having to pay full whack for a new phone

so, split screen and sharing from any app (whatever that means)...i still don't see what you're doing on android that's so much better than iOS. split screen is a big deal? on a screen that size? i don't get it

The ability to completely design how you interact with your phone, COMPLETELY. Down to the smallest details. Your phone, your taste, no limits.

To put the information you find useful to you where you want. To remove stuff that isn't useful to you. To make your phone do stuff for you automatically based on where you are for example (office, home, car) like launch apps, stop apps, turn certain functions on and off like bluetooth and wifi - all on its own. You always use Pandora when you plug in your headphones? Why not have it launch Pandora for you when you plug in your headphones (and turn it off when you're done).

To get to certain part of the OS simpler, faster, with less strokes.

To be able to use full featured third party apps like a keyboard alternative to the one IOS gives you - swipe typing has been around for a long time and it is SO much faster than regular typing - IOS is yet to implement it.

This is just a fraction.

Only reason to get a Verizon jet black iPhone 7 Plus is to flip it for a profit due to initial demand and constrained supply. Verizon version has the better Qualcomm radio that's unlocked to work on all carriers and not Intel's 1st gen carrier-limited guinea pig modem. You wouldn't want to keep the jet black because it'll develop micro scratches which Apple has already warned about and the other colors look like cheap spray on paint. Also, unless you get the jet black people will mistaken it for 'touch disease' iPhone 6 Plus. Dual camera 2x zoom is gimmicky and the software isn't complete. Zooming with feet is faster and simpler. Vibrating home button is gimmicky too like 3D touch which is no longer mentioned. Same boring big bezel design with ugly c-section lines for three generations. Still no wireless charging but 3.5mm audio was removed so no listening to music and charging without carrying a bunch of bulky dongles around. Even with 3.5mm removed it's only IP67 so lower than IP68. AI is airheaded compared to the competition. Services and navigation are still 3rd class. OS is limited like it's still for iPod with no split view multitasking, no PiP, no background multitasking, etc. And, it's penless. It's a jumbo iPod that can make calls.

The smart ones will flip a few Verizon jet black iPhone 7 Plus' and get a free Note 7 or upcoming Note 8.
