I have an Android phone and use Macs.

My files, browser (bookmarks, history), email, instant messages, calendar, contacts, notes and music are all in sync. Anything else I just "drop and drag".

Why would you want to sync your phone to your Mac when you can sync them both to web services? It's not 2002 any more.

On my GS4 there is no syncing needed. Dropbox, chrome, contacts, messages, productivity documents and everything needed no extra effort at all. If it's on my phone it's automatically on my MacBook Air.

This is what gets me, here is my iPhone 5 on top of my SGS3, hardly a lump.

I was surprised how different it feels in my pockets though. That 12mm overall in each direction adds up and the iPhone is not the smallest phone I've owned. I just prefer a smaller device for my needs and as I carry it mostly in my pocket, I want is as discreet as possible. Remember Dave I once owned the S3 myself. :)

How exactly can you get a 5 inch screen into the same phone size as iPhone 5, especially easily (or really any way)?
Its a squeeze and if it can't be done feasibly, then a screen slightly smaller like a 4.7 or something like that. It doesn't have to be 5".

Um... Pretty sure before notification center you had to find settings...then find WiFi...simple tasks took too many...compared to android where it's. Wait..it can't be...right in the notification panel!

If you get the moto x, you won't go back. I wanted the moto x but once i had the 1080p screen of the s4 i couldn't go back... Now I'm on the Nexus 5 and while I do wish it had active notifications ( Motorola has to have a defining feature for them), it blows the iPhone out the water

What's the difference between the x active notifications and the iPhone lock screen? They both show everything once you hit the power button.

That's one thing I kinda like about the iPhone how everything is on the lock screen.

Actually, the moto x you don't hit anything...you simply turn the phone over...one thing I wish the nexus 5 came with

Iphone 5s just doesn't do it for me.. sure its faster and .5" bigger screen than my 4s but other than that.. way to similar. apple needs to step it up. for now i think I'm going to switch my phone purposes to android and get a Nexus 5. i will always be an Apple computer guy as i love iMacs and macbook pros (have both) but the iPhone has been way to similar for ages.
maybe they can pull it off next time but the 5s was a bit of a let down..
I suggest you visit your local tivoli or buy a Playstation, if you want something different with flashy colors, instead of a production tool.

Just because the OP wasn't the greatest post ever, it doesn't mean you have to prove that you're on the same level. This thread had miraculously begun to go somewhere useful. Please don't set it back on course for the wasteland with cheap, clichéd remarks drawn at random from the anti-Android manual.

And you prefer it over the iPhone 5?

Can someone post a pic of a x with swiftkey installed?

Here's my iPhone 4S sitting on top of my SGS3 sitting on top of your iPhone 5 on top of your SGS3 and I think the SGS3 feels a little lumpy in my pocket. Not terrible, but I can feel it in my pocket when I am walking, but I rarely feel the iPhone.

Instead of having to turn in the phone..just turn it over, more useful

Do Apple kinda does the same thing just that you need to hit the power button?

I wouldn't call it a big upgrade over what Apple does though.

Its a usable feature that uses less battery. That's what they advertised. The moto x battery life is insane. If it wasn't for the price, I would have one. Ended up with the Nexus 5 and its way better than any iPhone still

Insane battery life? What gives you that impression?

Nicely done. :) I must admit that of all the iPhones that I have had, the 4S was my favourite designed iPhone (I've had 3GS, 4, 4S and 5), I thought it was a bit more "chunky" and felt more substantial in the pocket than the S3 though. It may very well be that I like the chunkier designs and feel. :)

Yep, can't fault that, as I said above, it might be me just preferring chunkier. :)

Sadly, I feel I might have to upgrade in the near future. I like iOS 7, but it's a little slow on the 4S.

I wish Apple could do some kind of examination before allowing people to purchase iPhone. Some people just aren't worthy of owning these incredible devices that lead the world.

Well written.

I've been on the fence myself, and my wife and i have been "Apple All In" since 2007. This thread is very informative and useful for me. Would be nice if it stayed on that track.

This thread just made me shake my head... It's not 2011 anymore, there are plenty good android devices on the market, that do everything an iPhone does (except apple-only-servies of course). You can even use your iCloud calendar, contacts and notes (at least I still prefer iCloud over Gmail).

Sure, there are good and bad devices on the market, but that's one of the biggest advantages: CHOICE.
The HTC One/Moto X are (99%) as smooth as an iPhone, the Nexus devices deliver an almost iOS-like clean experience (for a very good price). I strongly dislike most Samsung phones; build quality and software just plain suck, but that's just my opinion.. looks like their marketing is just way better since they sell lots of devices.

If you want to switch from iOS and get a nice and clean experience, try the Nexus 5, you won't regret it.

That's real interesting. Does your boy actually have internet on the Moto X?

Image

Image

Yes he's on the internet all day. People can throw specs and bench tests all they want. Its real world use that matters. To please the iPhone users, the iPhone has inferior specs compared to other phones, but yet out performs them. At the end of the day its what you prefer. IPhone users want to stay with the apple ecosystem, others, like me, prefer the openness of android and the better, larger screens. I switched for two reasons, one was to try something different, and two was because I got bored with the iPhone and found things that android phones have had for years

I passed on trading for the x for a shot at the g2 and the new spark network sprint is coming out with here in miami.

So I still have the iPhone until I can find a g2.
