Always been Apple guy but..

I agree with the OP on a few things.
I've had all of the iPhones from the 3G to the 5S.
The only reason why I upgraded from the 5, was because I wanted to lol.
Okay, I'll be honest, it's because I like to stay up to fate with the latest iPhone, I find the mechanics/ software beneficial. I like to play games, so the 64bit is a big deal for me. A few apps have been updated for the 64bit and boy do I see a difference.
That caught my attention.
I picked up the gold 64 gig on launch day and was I startled. Yes there are so many similarities from the iPhone 5, but the 5 was and still is premium product.
I passed it onto my girlfriend and bit is she happy.
I used the note 3 for a few days before I had the 5S, it's an interesting device with features that are Insane

BUT.....
When you're used to simplicity that is tailored to the mass market, it's hard to convert to a device that is complicated.
But bud, if you're done with the iPhone, maybe the 6 would make you happier.
Hope you enjoy the nexus 5.

Iphone 5s just doesn't do it for me.. sure its faster and .5" bigger screen than my 4s but other than that.. way to similar. apple needs to step it up. for now i think I'm going to switch my phone purposes to android and get a Nexus 5. i will always be an Apple computer guy as i love iMacs and macbook pros (have both) but the iPhone has been way to similar for ages.
maybe they can pull it off next time but the 5s was a bit of a let down..

It is clear to me that Apple does a redesign of the iPhone every two years now. After the original iPhone in 2007, there have been: (i) the iPhone 3G in 2008; (ii) the iPhone 3GS in 2009; (iii) the iPhone 4 in 2010; (iv) the iPhone 4S in 2011; (v) the iPhone 5 in 2012; and the (vi) iPhone 5s in 2013. In 2014, we'll see the iPhone 6 and in 2015, the iPhone 6s, if Apple continues this trend.

So, the iPhone 5s was expected.

But let me tell you something.

When the iPhone 5 was released, I was disappointed. I had an iPhone 4S then. I thought the iPhone 5 was not big enough, and the screen was not that good. The Android alternatives looked way better.

Then, I sold my iPhone 4S to my sister and bought myself a Samsung Galaxy S4, which was the flagship smartphone back then. The first day, I loved it. It could do everything, even side-by-side multi-tasking. Wow. The second day, I was hating it. It could do everything, but it was so bad at it! After a week, I was salivating to get my iPhone back. Then, two weeks after I got the S4, I gave it to my mother and bought myself an iPhone 5. It's a lot better, I can't even compare. I can't think of trying another Android device. Ever. Android is over for me.

What S4 did so bad compared to Iphone?

Don't even go into more advanced stuff. To me, the basic stuff on Iphone is so pathetic compared to S4.

- S4 dialer - predictive matching, grid view of favorites, speed dial on keypad, record call (certain countries) etc.
- S4 Phone log - unlimited log size, thumbnail in log list, swipe left/right to call/message, in/out call duration tracking etc.
- S4 contact - sync with ANY 3rd party/cloud contacts. Can direct connect to ANY 3rd party/cloud (not just fb like in iphone).

Probably just personal taste. When I use Android phones now they just don't feel as refined to me. All smartphones do more or less the same thing so its a case of finding one you like and enjoy using. Some people like Android, some people like iPhones. I like the latter and can't see that changing as things stand.

DO NOT BUY AN ANDROID DEVICE! I warn you! I bought Galaxy S4 beacuse I looked better than iPhone 5 on paper. It has a nice camera (I think GS4's camera is better than iPhone 5 but iPhone 5S' camera is better than gs4) but it's oversized. It's nearly impossible to use it with one hand. Android is really slow and laggy. Android updates are just horrible! You have to wait for months to get an update. Most apps in Google play are really awfull. 3/4 apps are scam and full of viruses. I wanted to download Facebook App and I saw 30 fake apps! Also Android will slow down over time and it will be worthless. My next phone will be iPhone (Maybe iPhone 6 :D ). It will look like better than Apple for 1-2 months and then you will notice how bad it is.

So. Let me get this straight. You apparently don't care at all about your phone syncing with your iMac? How strange.

.

People still sync their phones to their computers? I find that so 2010, and very strange. Cloud services and streaming music.

I have an android phone, and mb pro, imac and ipad. No syncing required. Getting myself off iTunes was the best decision ever.

No, not a troll. Here is the list of fake facebook apps: Facebook Hacker (actually it's not a fake app but it's still a scam), iFacebok, Facebook Status Updater, Facebook Tweeter :)confused:) Hot Facebook :)confused:). My facebook, FB Friend Hack, Facebookviewer, Facebook Photo Viewer. If you don't belive me type ''Facebook'' on Google Play and you will see all of them. There are even more spam apps too like: Slender Sam, Galaxy S5 live wallpaper :)confused:) , fake iOS 7 launcher, iPoop (it removed by Play store later), XGag (fake 9Gag app), failbook viewer. Sorry there were inapporite app names so I don't want to share it here. Also I don't live in Europe or USA so Android 4.3 update relased yesterday (for Galaxy S4). It is slow and laggy. When I type fast on GS4 phone frozes for 3-4 seconds. I will wait until iPhone 6 releases (I don't want to change my phone now. iPhone 6 probably get introduce in next november.) and I will probably buy it (I considered buying a windows phone but they don't have any apps). So not a troll, If I wanted to troll I would create another account :D Sorry for my bad english it's not my native language.

Actually Android has some viruses. I once installed an App and it made my phone freaked out! Then I removed battery and rebooted my phone. There was a white-gray text in left bottom: Safe Mode. Then I uninstalled that app and everything turned back to normal. Also did you ever heard of famous Android virus called as DroidDream? It's extinct now but It was a virus written by a smart programmer. It was impossible to realise that your phone is infected at daytime but after 11:00 PM it gets activated and gets access to root settings. There are still DroidDream cleaner apps on google play. Android is not as unsafe as windows. You don't get virus by just browsing web but you can get one by installing an App.

Your native language is troll...clearly

Strange, 4.3 on my gs4 has made it virtually lag free. Not completely but then it is android so it's to be expected

If your stupid enough to click and download that stuff, you get what you deserve. Just like anything else that involves the internet, a little common sense goes a long way.

I am not talking about downloading stupid Apps or getting viruses. I am talking about Google Play Store doesn't have so many good apps. Most Apps in AppStore is safe and high-quality but Google Play is not so good. Play Store has 1/4 of apps that AppStore got.

I couldn't check Android 4.3 so much, I am really busy this week. Android is open source and not written for a specific hardware, this makes it laggy. iOS is only made for Apple A-Series chips and its closed source operating system so it has to be more stable than Android.

So ever since iOS7 typing has become a major chore. It seems that the keyboard turned to crap with the update. Either that or my hands grew and miss the keys now. Either way the N5 is looking mighty tempting.

I was really disappointed at the S4. And I found it very weird about it.

I have always been a geek and a nerd. A power user and an early adopter. I always liked hardware with beefy specs, and which were absolutely top-of-line. So, I thought the S4 would be just perfect for me. And that's what I found in the first day.

But then the problems began. I'll list some of them:

•*The S4 is big and uncomfortable to handle. I thought the size would not be a problem at first, but it is. I couldn't handle it with just one hand. And it felt light, but weird, in my hands. The button is not as good to push as the one in the iPhone.

• The touch screen is not half as good as the one in the iPhone. It is much less responsive. And, perhaps due to that, the keyboard is not as good either. I thought I would commit less mistakes with a keyboard on a larger screen. I was wrong. The keyboard in the S4 was even less precise than the one in the iPhone.

• I had to install an anti-virus. Otherwise, the phone would just get viruses via bluetooth. Just like we humans get viruses being exposed to the air, so does Android.

• It's not half as convenient to use as the iPhone. The operating system felt clunky. Yes, iOS may be over-simplified, but there's so much you can do on a smartphone. I don't want to navigate several menus or have to customize my cell phone to the tiniest detail in order for it to work in a convenient way. It's not a laptop and it's not supposed to be powerful or complex like a laptop.

• The operating system lacks polish. And apps lack polish. Commands are weird and hard to find. Not intuitive at all.

• Even though the S4 is powerful, it had some serious lags. Too many apps running at the same time and consuming memory.

In the end, I couldn't use it, despite it being powerful. And I don't want another Android device. I'm happy with the iPhone 5, and I feel it was much better than the Galaxy S4. I can't even compare them both. It's not fanboyism, or anything related to personal preference towards Apple. It's just that I found the S4 unbearable to use. And the iPhone is a joy to use.
