Were they fixed after you changed the value to 4 in the 10... kext?
My VEGA 56s still present the problem, after the new kext was installed.

Tried with both Kext utility and the other suggested.
Maybe I should delete the old kext too?

I just installed it, with the thought the original would be overritten

It appears trying to modify the Vega kext doesn't work very well. I got it working, but then it stopped loading at startup no matter what I did so I had to restore the original.
[doublepost=1515542016][/doublepost]There doesn't appear to be a change with beta 4. We'll probably have to wait for 10.13.4 or 10.13.5. One of those should have official support for these cards (for eGPU).

Interesting, my kext work, no problem whatsoever, but the change suggested to "4" does not affect fan speed.

So the modified kext is correctly installed and loaded, but fan issue persists.

I sounds like SIP is being reenabled somehow on the subsequent restarts which stops the modified Kext from loading.

Maybe "signing" the modified kext in recovery mode with "kext-dev-mode=1"? A weird issue indeed. Can one even do this anymore?
---EDIT---
Kext is successfully loaded.

Nope. SIP didn't re-enable. I don't care much anyways because it only fixes sleep and it's not worth the hassle installing my old card if the driver doesn't load.

itdk, How do you power both of your Vega 56's? I understand you have done the Pixlas mod, but doesn't that only give two 8-pins? Did you use the mini 6-pins to power one card?

In quiet mode, the cards don't use more than 6A from each mini 6 pin, which is within the limit, even though it's an 8pin. So yes, one of each of the two cards is connected to a mini 6 pin.

Both cards are in "quiet mode", which is a joke because of the fan issue :) But everything works great, and they are tested fine under very heavy load and benchmarks.

Just a pity though, because now that I found out about this though configuration, I have no chance of finding other VEGA 56 for customers because they are sold out in the whole Europe.

Life's funky at times.

Nice. Sadly, we in U.S. are also struggling to Vega GPU's. I was meant to buy one on Black Friday but were sold out instantly. I've been toying around the idea of selling the 580 and getting a Vega FE (readily available), but the Vega seems to be having issues atm.

Funny, here EVERY vega is gone.

The only one available is a FE with liquid cooling for the modest amount of 1500€ (1800$) lol

The Vega FE costs around $900, and I don't think I would use it to it's full potential honestly. It a beast of a card, works great in both Premiere Pro/ CC and FCPX.

Here in Switzerland the same...Vegas are all sold out. I managed to get a RX Vega 64 before christmas but since then they are gone... I thought about buying a second one.
It works really good with Steam, FCX, C4D,Luminar and Affinity Photo... Only thing that is not really working is the C4D Pro render. Keeps crashing C4D always but I'm not sure if it is because of not having the correct drivers or an Issue with C4D.

The prices have gone up so much I decided to sell mine. Hopefully the fan issue will be resolved when the prices come down. I thought about getting an FE, but Newegg has raised the price back up (it was $699 and then $749 for awhile). I also think the FE uses too much power and gets too hot. Maybe I’ll wait for a good deal on a WX 9100. I think it’s actually the only WX card that will work based on the device ID.

That would be half price compared to here! Insane..

Just read the headline too quickly, and I read " Graphic cards EXPLODE" haha

So, Furmark won't shutdown the Vega 56 anymore?

I sold a RX 480 4GB that I got from a dead HP desktop for $300! Prices are going back up!

Has anyone tested the first beta of 10.13.4 with your Vega card yet?
[doublepost=1516831955][/doublepost]10.13.4 brings support for 4 additional Vega GPUs. Updated original post with Device IDs.
[doublepost=1516832257][/doublepost]Vega GPUs should now be correctly identified in About this Mac and System Information! The AMD10000Controller file contains the following names:

Radeon Pro WX 9100, Radeon Vega Frontier Edition, Radeon RX Vega 64, and Radeon RX Vega 56

10.13.4 will bring public eGPU support. Therefore Apple has made a lot of nice improvements to this build. Some Polaris and Vega cards show proper names now. There's also a menu bar icon for eGPU eject. The Mac Pro tower also benefits from these changes.
