I know Americans and I think British crowd are big-time iPhone buyersbut from what I’ve read worldwide I think Android dominates primarily if you’re looking at overall sales and numbers of quantity phones sold.

I think Android dominates in the third world market with a lot of cheap very affordable type phones, where Apple doesn’t really have phones for that market.

So just overall devices sold yearly I would think Android wins big time. And it’s not all Galaxy S21’s and Google Pixel 5’s, but mostly the much cheaper lesser known models.

My point, I don't think Android is in decline whatsoever. It's probably doing more than alright.

Not at all. My wife, My mother in law, my son and myself are all moving to full android. Ipads and iphones are all being shelved. My mother in law's iphone 6s is showing 87 percent battery health, meanwhile the phone goes dead in 15 min. Apple did a hardware test and found nothing wrong. Never again. Apple hardware is massively overrated.

Same boring Icons. Spring board so you cannot position the icons where you want, apple widgets are half assed, the apple app "dock" is half assed where you cannot choose what goes where....same boring dock and the bottom. shall I continue? Changing an Icon in iOS is a procedure in pulling teeth, then you have that huge stutter when you open the app because it has to go through the dumb shortcuts app in order to do anything. Again, shall I go on? Nothing "ODD" other than people who have apple phones are starting to get bored with the same thing year after year after year after year.

Given how many millions buy iPhones each year I doubt that’s the case. IOS was boring with no option for widgets and while widgets aren’t interactive they look better in types of design than the widgets we get on android even though there’s far more choice on android

My main issue with iOS is not placing apps where you want them. In terms of the app icons I still prefer the look of iOS icons and even when you customise them on android for me some themes can look a little too cartoony at times

Android is certainly better when it comes to having interactive widgets. Where I miss it on iOS is for music and pocket cast app. The others for news and scores pretty much auto update anyway so for those widgets it’s not really a massive deal.

I wish I could sway my wife and kids, actually my entire roster of friends and family, from iOS. Not a single one has a non iOS phone, it's really amazing how pervasive Apple is in the US. It's just shame that Android keeps shooting itself in the foot. It can't even get a good messaging system off the ground like RCS, it's all so fragmented that even if your friends/family are on Android it's a pain. That's the real pressure point, when my friends and family see me struggle to send a video of my kid scoring a soccer goal they realize what makes iOS valuable.

Android widgets are being redesigned in android 12.

Apple's marketing team works wonders every year. simple. It's not that the OS or devices are any better. You see 1500 times more apple ads than anything else.

We just said F'it. If our bubbles are green, Who the F cares. You want to "facetime", download duo. If not, we don't need to talk to you. We are done with Apple's strongarm bull.

I don’t find iOS boring as I don’t really study it that in depth. It does what I need and it’s not just about the iPhone but the iPad and Apple Watch too. I like the way apps and services are designed into iOS and how there is an almost seamless design throughout. It’s clean, and easy to use.

A common misconception on tech sites too is iOS is only appealing to people who aren’t clever or into tech. It’s quite often suggested old people use iPhones and younger enthusiasts prefer Android but I have never seen any evidence of that. I know so many people that contradict those claims as the iPhone seems to be appealing to just about every type of person. You can’t really go wrong whether you choose iOS or Android in all honesty as they essentially offer the same fundamentals when it comes to smartphones.

I used to be like you. Until iOS 13, then things when down the crapper. Constant bugs, issues, etc. I have sold my iPads, apple watches and iPhones. All gone. it's so nice on the other side of the walled garden. I have stopped paying for apple services and moved to spotify and amazon music. Apple tv I have never used, icloud storage I never used, apple fitness I never used, apple news plus I never used. What a waste every month for garbage I never used.

I’d probably be like you if I’d experienced all those bugs but luckily I haven’t had too many issues. The worst I had was with iOS 7, but luckily that was resolved within a few months. I don’t pay for Apple services either apart from £2 a month for additional iCloud storage. I use Strava for fitness and Amazon Music. I haven’t bought an app for 2 years and I think it was 5 years before that lol. My iPhone changes very little between device changes and has been very much the same layout for several years, since my 6S.

I think it comes down to personal preference and what works for us. There’s no right or wrong choice with these sorts of things. It’s nice to have a good range of choice too :)

100% agree. I dispise rabid fans of either side. Yes, I have been having ALOT of issues with iOS in the past year. It's not the device either because both my 8 and 11 are having the same issues. Tried wipeing the devices and starting new, etc. Nothing works. So time to move on. People defending apple like its a family member is down right ridiculous. Same on the other side. I have had people here state that I am the issue that my devices are having issues. SERIOUSLY? AM I HOLDING IT WRONG? But I digress. Android is fresh and awesome now. iOS is stale and boring.

I’ll agree about placing icons anywhere. But everything else is blah. Your the minority of people who care about that stuff.

You are correct and that is fine. A so called smart phone is almost essential to function in todays world and hundreds of millions of people cannot afford the prices Apple charges. So there is only one option, Android.

If Apple really cared about privacy perhaps they could produce a bare bones phone which could be affordable to the masses. Sort of a global public service to back up its we care about the vulnerable and oppressed manta.
Apple is a corporation. They don’t “care” about anything. I think people get confused about this with so many corporations virtue signaling. I guess that makes good marketing to help their sales but don’t think any corporation cares for anything other than sales and profit. Without those two things they would go out of business.

Apple makes products for a certain market share. It’s not that they care about privacy but there’s a market for privacy conscious products. In the end I don’t care if Apple cares or not but rather does the product meet my needs.

As to making a low end iPhone that will never happen in the USA. For one it will cannibalize sales on the higher and iPhones and secondly it will likely have disappointing performance. That will damage their brand reputation. Also Apple is expected to maintain support for their products for years and that just can’t happen on a cheap device with low profit percentage. Cheap android phones don’t have any support and are subsidized by ads and tracking.

That’s so true. Right now there is a prime deal on the S21 Plus unlocked for $699. I almost jumped on it but I know I’ll be back to iOS within days.
Everyone I know is on IOS and it makes life easy.

Judging by comments I beg to differ. Alot of people are wanting to change up their home screens. There is a huge market for app icon packs now. If I was the only one these would fail to exist. So I think YOU are the minorty of iOS users at this point.

In reality the only difference is the color of your text bubbles. I deal with clients on android every day and there is no difference conversing with them and people with iphones. NONE.

Yes there is. Main differences are speed, security and images send in full resolution.
Living in the United States it’s iOS heavy.

I wouldn’t care if I lived in Europe as everyone uses WhatsApp.

Well I mean not much difference between iOS and Android.
I guess your being sarcastic but I don’t get why your being so sensitive.
There's a lot you don't get. Especially if you think my replies make me "sensitive".

Anecdotic examples such as a family’s decisions do not have statistical significance.
