The workers should start holding up red(bloody made) iPhones as a signal.

Then Apple should shut up and not boldly play the saviors in public. They do this just for profit instead for the false ethical values they are advert.
I disagree. Apple is not responsible for the world. They already have a supplier responsibility contract. And since you or I don’t know the full story of what actually happened, blindly criticizing apple is criticizing for criticizing sake. On other words, this is throwing the baby out with the bath water mentality.

It's exactly the same situation as blood diamonds.

China is communist - totalitarian political system that sells the idea of "socialism". Socialism is an economic system proposed by Karl Marx, coupled with his socio-political ideologies, neither of which work and have been responsible for hundreds of millions of deaths in the 20th century. Socialism guarantees everyone but the ones in power are poor - it does not "rob the rich", it creates the Uber-rich class, an oligarchy. There is no social mobility, like a caste system. I'll support India over the CCP any day. Communists are incomprehensibly evil and the ideology ought be eradicated.

That's false. This narrative is from the Red Scare. It's propaganda actually.

China's system is meritocratic, which means it has more social mobility than any major countries on the planet.

You can't enter China's top universities with legacy or donation, and only by standardized exams. Backdoors do exist but only for members of the military, current high-ranking party members holding office and foreign students on diplomatic grounds, which do not count towards the quota.

Communism didn't kill anyone in the past, the stupidity of those in charge did.

No political system is inherently good or bad, let it be dictatorship or democracy. The devil is in the details, and how it's excuted. More often than not, it's human nature. All systems can be exploited, including the one we are in right now, right under our noises.

I'm always amused by the people who shout "screw you Apple!" over labour conditions, and then rush to use a Windows PC made in similar conditions, an Xbox made in similar conditions, an Android phone made in similar conditions... it's really just a thinly-veiled attempt to tie their irrational hatred of Apple to a sense of moral superiority.

Saturday Night Live did a parody of this sort of thing ever since the iPhone 5. I'm not sure why we're still surprised over a decade later :\ .....

Of course they do and people lap it up, why? Because people are stupid. heck look at Apple and saving the environment so they stopped adding a charger from being included with the phone... yet still sell said charger which is now in it's own box.

So in your mind with Apple selling hundreds of millions of iphones a year; including a charger in the box that:
- takes up more space
- more packaging
- more greenhouse gases to ship
- etc

is just as bad as selling a charger in the box separately? Do you think every customer that buys a new iphone also buys a new brick, or is it possible Apple sells substantially less than hundreds of millions of chargers a year having a net positive for the environment?

People aren't as stupid as posters claim they are. In fact I think the general public sees the bigger picture better than many MR posters.

You're wrong here.

"They changed the contract so that we could not get the subsidy as they had promised. They quarantine us but don't provide food," said one Foxconn worker on video shared online. "If they do not address our needs, we will keep fighting."

Foxconn is constantly pressured by Apple to manage costs. This is the direct result of that.
lol you think this isn't about the lockdowns? Well I almost can't blame you since the news doesn't cover what happens in China properly AT ALL.

You all here let the US government do the same thing to us. I simply don't see the relevance of any complaints.

BYW, this is not Foxconn or Apple, it is the CCP that is causing the lack of food, the shutdown of the cafeteria, etc. Same thing that happened in the US. However, when it happened in the US a lot of you all were all for it. Go figure.
I don't remember being locked in my house for days, weeks, months, or years without the ability to feed myself. I remember being given unemployment when my work struggled.

"Slave in a factory" can describe virtually any factory in the world. The worth of a penny is relative to the location that penny is being earned.
No it can't. It can be used to describe factories being run without proper regulations or worker rights being taken into account, and especially in China where they're literally locking people AT WORK.

Yes it certainly can. Regulated or not. Apple Supplier Responsbility https://www.apple.com/supplier-responsibility/ details a lot of this. Here in the US, laws are still broken in factories that are supposedly regulated. Foxconn has to agree to Apples' supplier responsibility.

So... Apple says that they take good care of their factory workers, yet it's not Apples responsibility, so which is it?

Yes. Exactly. Apple has taken a stand. There are many "throw the baby out with the bathwater" posters here - which never ceases to amaze me.
I don't want Apple to go, I want the CCP to go, I want workers to be treated well or for iPhones to be made by robots.

Every company claims to be good at the things they're known for being bad for. https://www.facebook.com/about/basics Here is Facebook claiming to be safe, secure, and private.

"Yes. Exactly."
