Hmmm... I totally believe you but unless you have some secret Mojo with Amazon (or unless they have an updated estimate and they haven't gone to the trouble of re-acking our orders) something has to change...

Keep on eye on it for a few days and report back if it stays on that date or if it moves out to late December.

Got an email last night saying it had been delayed and my new estimated ship time is 11/03/05 from the Apple online store. Funny thing is I called Apple yesterday and the man told me it was already shipped out and I should be getting a confirmation # last night instead I got the dreaded email I stated about above. I talked to 3 different people today and the first person said it hasn't shipped out the second one stated it had and the third one said it was in process. My order status still stated not shipped. So which is it only who knows. I think they shouldnt annouce a new product until they are sure the availability of that particular product. They did state that I paid for expidited shipping and I should have it to my doorstep by Monday morning. I paid for free shipping so who knows........

i got 2 emails this week on the day my machine was supposed to ship by; the first said that due to unforeseen circumstances my machine wouldn't ship until on or bef. nov. 2, the second, sent just after the first, said it had shipped. it's in our country now & should be here soon, according to the tracking info

like you, i also think they shouldn't announce a new product until it's available, but the way things happened with the 20" model makes it look like there could have been a tech or supply problem that delayed their release (the 17" models were shipping way sooner)--and i'd rather wait til any problem is resolved than get a unit with something wrong with it. i really don't think apple intended to make people wait this long on purpose--being the underdog of the computer world, they have too much to prove (and prove, and prove...)

my last computer bought from them was also a new model (5+ years ago) & it arrived in 2 days...

Is that a BTO 20"?

I think theres a problem with apple, there is a problem with communication with the sales team and the site team.

My online order says "02/12/05", but the sales rep says "17/11/05".

IMO, i think the announcement should have been made when there was 20" ready to be shipped, its a nightmare :S

The longer i wait, the more i think about cancelling

I just went to the Apple Store in Tampa (20 minutes away) and got my new iMac yesterday. No wait, just in and out within 5 minutes. :p

(Though I did have the hassle of having to return the new iMac I bought the day after it was released which I got last Friday because it was defective. Glad I chose to just get a full refund and wait until they came in at my local store instead of exhanging it and waiting for a new one from freakin Shangai.)

Noticed in your signature apple!freak that you have a older imac and the new one.

can you notice any speed difference between them or are they the same?

Just a note to anyone still sitting with an unfeasibly long wait time... For the last couple of weeks, my iMac G5 order (BTO) was sitting with an estimated ship date of 28/11/2005. However, I've just checked back with it after not having done so for a few days, and the status is now 'Shipped'!

So, if you've found yourself in a similar situation, don't give up hope. Of course, one wonders if they made an error and really meant the 28/10 rather than 28/11 ;)

If you are still waiting on a 20" iMac and happen to live in or near London..

The status on my order changed to "Shipped" on Thursday, however after a call to the store this morning they told me it was in fact still sitting in Shanghai and wouldn't be moving until Monday. They were very apologetic and let me cancel the order.

The good news is that I called the London Regent Street store who happened to have had two 20" models in stock, delivered the night before.

They now have one, as do I!

It's hard to say, because I have tons of stuff on my 20" and just my photos, music, and videos on the 17". Not to mention my 20" is about seven months old, and as we all know, computers get slower with time.

They are on the same shipment haha :) They have parted ways now, however, as mine is waiting up in South Bend, Indiana to be delivered on Monday!!! The estimated delivery date still says Tuesday but the computer is basically here now so it should come Monday :D

Mine was on that 11:31 Indianapolis shipment too!

Then it went on another plane, because it's actually ~35 miles away from as of 6:30 this morning, and it says "In Transit". The estimated delivery date is Tuesday the 1st, but does anyone know if it might come today? =) They don't deliver Sundays, correct? At the very latest it's got to be here Monday, but I want it NOW! haha

They only deliver on Saturday if you paid for Saturday delivery (which Apple does not make an option). I feel your pain as I want mine now as well :) Now I'm thinking about getting an iBook to compliment my new iMac haha! But iBooks are coming up on a possible update in the next few months so I may wait for that.

Ordered a stock 20" on 21/10/2005, it's been "Processing Order" since then.

Estimated ship date is stated as 4/11/2005 on the website, when I phoned up I was told 1/11/2005 at the earliest, 4/11/2005 at the latest.

So seems like a batch may be leaving sometime next week. At least I hope so anyway!

I ordered my 17" Stock a week ago tonight, wasn't suppose to ship until 11/2 but it shipped out 10/27, and will actually be delivered two days earlier than the estimated ship date!

What's the point of getting an iBook if you arleady have the latest powerbook?

The powerbook is going back to Apple as it has screen issues. The iMac is taking its place :)

Are these screen issues common?? What are some signs i should look out for

Darkness in the edges or uneven screen brightness in some areas. Mine was darker in the upper left corner near the Apple... it is annoying.

Well after it's long journey from China... My iMac has finally reached Boston... A Day ahead of FedEx's Estimated Delivery Date, and 2 days before Apple's Esitimated SHIP date....

I should have it in the morning :)
