strann said:i pre-ordered my 20" with stock setup the very day that apple announced the new imacs, i am getting mine through the ubc university bookstore here in vancouver. (educational discount )
so far.. not a single 20" imac has been able to reach the university bookstore yet. NOT ONE.
i have pestered the sales people there repeatedly and finally got an answer last week saying that most likely, they will receive the machines in the store on november 17th
arrrrgh. i am feeling a little stupid here, since this is my first time buying a mac i guess its ok that i didnt know what to expect. i should have done some research into apple's typical procedures when announcing a product and then actually shipping it to its customers and distributors. because i now know that this sort of thing is standard procedure with them.
they like to have their fancy pants key note speeches where steve jobs gets to wank off in front of the world and get everyone applauding and salivating over his miraculous creations... all the while knowing that there is no way on earth that he can supply even 1% of the demand that he creates. but we are all indeed suckers... we all just follow the carrot and dont mind the arse shafting that we take waiting and waiting. because in the end, macs are the bomb and osx is the bomb.
i just wish, with all the goddamned money that jobs has and all the goddamned profits apple has made over the last year.. they would increase their manufacturing output to meet the bloody demand for these new products. there is a trend here man! wake up!

Thanks! It is a new 20" iMac with iSight, and it was loaded on the UPS delivery truck this morning at 06:57:20... But I won't see it until after work today.loghound said:Well I was wrong... I can't believe you ordered your imac after me and yours is already shipping.. I just sent amazon a letter basically asking "WHAT THE #$#"
Good luck and enjoy new imac (Just to double check... it was one of the new imacs with built in isight, correct?)
retrospek said:My iMac 20" shipped a few days ago, but it doesn't seem to have done much on the TNT tracking webpage (I'm in the UK):
01 Nov 2005 21:27 Shanghai Shipped From Originating Depot
01 Nov 2005 09:54 Shanghai Consignment Received At Transit Point
Anyone else in the UK with the same status on the TNT tracking webpage ? It has been at this status for 4 days now !
Also, do you know if it has to go via the Netherlands (as my iPod did) or will TNT ship directly to the UK from Shanghai ?
Thanks,
Mark

Is there only one flight per week from the Netherlands or something?
And how come our Macs were scanned at the exact same time for shipping? I bet they're sat next to each other on a palette somewhere at the airport. Looking at past orders, I predict that the statuses will update tonight and we should have them on Tuesday.
Misterioso said:Well I called up Amazon and tore them a new ******* last night.
Apparently they decided to give priority to everyone who PAID for shipping with those who chose overnight and 2 day shipping the first shipments. It didn't matter when you ordered. If you decided to pay and pay more than anyone else for shipping they bumped you up in the line. And preference is given to credit card purchasers as well.
I told them this was complete ******** and unacceptable and misleading. Basically screamed at them.
Now, all of a sudden they are capable of shipping my iMac today and bumped me up to 2 day shipping for no charge.
What a bunch of jackasses at that company. But you can't beat the price.
Now I want my shipping refunded! Just kidding -- I'm thrilled to get mine when I get home today. And the price is wonderful, even with shipping charges.Misterioso said:Now, all of a sudden they are capable of shipping my iMac today and bumped me up to 2 day shipping for no charge.

loghound said:I can confirm this... I called and the answer was "So sorry for your concern but we commit to Dec 21'st as the latest we will ship the product" I pointed out that the web page said one to two weeks and I knew someone (well I feel like I know psean at this point) who got his after ordering more than a WEEK after I did.
She again apologized and wanted to know if there was anthing else she could do, I said "Yes, put someone on the phone who can fix this"..
10 minutes later she confirmed my iMac ships out today for arrival on monday.
So here is the rub.. I am an Amazon prime member which means I get free 2nd day shipping and $3.99 for overnight. When I placed the oirder I paid for overnight ($3.99) but since this is basically free and they take a big hit on an overnight ship at this price my guess is I fell in the 'unfavorable' category.
So now we know how Amazon treats their customer's, especially someone who actually paid for Amazon Prime ...
I wish they would just be up front especially to people who actually paid for Amazon Prime and say "You will get cheap shipping but we can decide to make you a 2nd class citizen"
