well this year there is Streaming Video. It wasn't added till midway through last season. hence the price hike.

It says "Unable to connect" when I try to listen to Braves v Mets. Anyone else having this problem?

Cheers,

Chris

My thoughts exactly.

14.99 !!!!

What the hell

I still think it is a bargain. This is the first full year, including Spring Training, the first full year with the video option, and the feature I am most excited about, the ability to listen to the audio broadcasts in the background!

To me, that alone justifies the additional $5.

They are nice features, for sure, but I think the video blackout still affects (and I'm making this number up completely) at least 80% of fans who are unable to make use of video for their favorite team. That is, for me, a huge drawback. I'd happily plunk down for mlb.tv and this if I knew I could watch the Red Sox games when I'm stuck in a meeting, or at the laundromat, or when I'm not at home or my local watering hole.

Yeah, I hear you. I am a Sox fan, as well, but I live in SC now, so the only time it is blacked out for me is last year when they played the Braves.

I am willing to bet that 80% is a high number, and I see your point. I feel the opposite end. I'd sign up for NESN in a heartbeat on DirecTV if I could get the games live. I even wrote them a letter saying they should work with MLB to allow "Super Fan" packages, where we could pay a monthly fee/annual fee and get say NESN without the blackout dates.

I bet they'd make more money this way than the package for EVERY GAME from EVERY TEAM.

Sorry for getting a bit off topic

The point to blackouts is that local channels are showing the games and selling advertising between innings. To cover all my bases, I subscribe to mlb.tv and I also have a Slingbox at home and Slingplayer on the phone. When the Phillies, Orioles or Nationals are playing, I can watch them on MASN or one of the Comcast sports channels or Philly channels via Slingbox. Anything else I can watch via mlb.tv. There's no way MLB is ever going to eliminate blackouts for any price so that's really the only way to get around them. Now that Slingplayer (and Orb, again) work via 3G, it's a viable option. You can get a classic Slingbox off ebay for dirt cheap these days and, despite what they say, it works fine with the Slingplayer.

Per the price, whatever. Compared to mlb.tv and various cable subscriptions, it's a bargain. It would be a bargain at $50.

I didn't mind the $9.99 pricepoint last season, but I was kind of put off by the $5 price hike. But I'm a huge baseball fan, and I literally used the '09 app everyday (especially if I was out of town and needed to catch/listen to the Phillies game), so the more I thought about it, the $5 price hike isn't that bad if you're using frequently.

I wouldn't say it 80% thats high. I mean, I have 12 friends here in Los Angeles. We're all Transplants from NY, Chicago, Boston, Philly, D.C., Tampa and Dallas. We all use this app to catch our hometown teams games and audio. Besides, odds are in your home market, even if you're out with the wife, you can still probably catch the game somehow.

This has always been my favorite iPhone app, I wish the NBA League Pass app was just as good.

I was an XM subscriber, but after a while the only thing I ever listened to was baseball. I was down to $77/hr or about $6.50 per month. At $15 for the season, the MLB app is saving me money because I was able to quit my XM.

For People Whinning about the price Hike ill say it again last year it Just started off as Audio as its been the last 2 atbats but midway through they added watching games live so it makes sense for adding the price.

Yeah, That was my point. I notice more and more lately I think in short bursts, which can leave out some facts. It's a great app. $15 to listen to Joe Castiglione for the games is worth it, especially for those of us now living in other states.

Yeah, that hole $15 for a quality app the provides hours of entertainment, truly tragic,

It provided just as much entertainment for $10, now didn't it? For the amount of baseball that I watch, that was a good price. This is not. Just my opinion. I'm not as diehard as some of you seem to be, so the price hike doesn't make me want to purchase it this year.

Why has our society devolved to the point where if someone has a complaint or a contrary point of view, it's automatically labeled as "whining"? It's childish and unnecessary.

I think the $15 price tag is just right because the iPhone app is the cheapest way to get Gameday Premium now. They stopped selling it alone and that used to cost $20.

If the Mets make a serious run at the division title, I may reconsider buying this, since I'm not in a market that gets many Mets games.

the description on iTunes says "Background Audio Playback". Does that mean I can listen to my Phils while browsing the internet?

Oh, you poor poor fellow. (I'm a rabid mets fan too, also out of market, but how can you even have hope at this point?)
