C2D - Arrives on 18th

I'll get mine on the 18th according to Apple. It has an ETA of the 14th at Flextronics, and then will merge with an Airport express (which, according to posts on here will last exactly one year before it dies).

Hooray!

My mini is retiring to be an itunes and ntl tellybox server.

Mine's supposed to get here on the 17 as an ETA but i'm hoping Wednesday ish since they shipped two days earlier. I got a text from Apple that woke me up this afternoon actually, i thought i was dreaming but jumped on the computer to find out it was real.

Hope this is what you meant. Sorry, but only have phone to take a picture at Uni, and it's dark now.

My 17" should ship on 14th according to Apple website and on 13th according to Apple's email.

Lets hope for 13th then i might get it by the end of the week

question for people who ordered MBP in UK on 24th.

How long was it before yours shipped after USA customers?

17" MBPs have started to ship in USA so just wondering how long it will be before UK models start to ship.

I got mine.

I did the math.

at current exchange rate it is cheaper to get a flight to the US (NY) get it there for much cheaper and return to the UK.

I got mine this way and have been using it since a week. only had one problem with the Wifi and my belkin54g Wireless router.... may apple come to our rescue soon!

great piece of kit though.

I got the standad low end configuration this way and a semi free visit to the NY apple Store!!!
:D

I ordered my 17" on 30/10, and it was due to ship today (13/11). But it's just been bumped to ship on 20/11. So who knows.

Anybody else using the higher educational website when ordering the MBP? I've just checked my warranty period through the Apple Support page and it mentioned that I only have a year warranty instead of the advertised three year warranty period. Should I worry about it now? Or will Apple send a black & white invoice/extended warranty for the HE agreement separately? Checking my electronic invoice, there is no mention about the HE agreement in there.

They won't send anything in writing about the HE 3 year warranty. Leads me to believe we'll all have trouble getting warranty service after the first year :(

I've lived with Glossy screens on my last two machines now for nearly two years - Acer 1693WLMi and 1694WLMi... They seem to work fine for me.. Is there a hitch to getting one on the Mac?

Don't worry, I'm just ribbing you. I personally prefer matte screens, but I've used glossy on a MacBook and it was fine, just different. They have pros and cons. I ended up disliking seeing my reflection when looking at dark colours on the screen. Maybe I'm just not vain enough ;)

That's basically why I paid the extra 50 quid (+VAT) to get the "EMEA CC-HE Contract Uplift" which gives you full Applecare ie mail-in even though I probably won't need it (Applestore is nearby, and I do need the extra 50 quid (+VAT) to get a decent mouse!)

I've waited so long for this machine that I really want it to keep on keepin on

I am still waiting for my 15inch MBP and i am really getting fed up now. My order was put through on the 30th and it has still not even shipped yet. I have 8 days left to activate Windows on the CD MBP that i have to use until my new MBP arrives (i am getting a new replacement) and i am hoping that it does get here before my activation expires. I am a bit concerned if i have to activate twice so close together.
This is taking so long. I think that i am going a email to rep who has been dealing with me today and ask him what is going on with this. Because it is a replacement i do not get any tracking online so i just have to sit in the dark unless i contact the rep who has been helping me.

Just ordered mine.

15'' 2.16ghz MBP w/1GB ram 160gb HD. I got a refund on my old one due to a delay for parts when getting it repaired so I'm getting a free speed bump over my 1.8ghz model I had and its £80 cheaper :D Ship date is the 20th. I should get it either Friday 24th or Monday 27th. Silly weekend got in the way :)

wehey!!

Mine got delivered about 1 1/2 hours ago :D

Just figuring out how to use it atm!!

Seems to be in perfect condition.. Dont notice any uneven screen or anything...

How do I find out if the screen I have is a matte or not? It doesnt seem to say anywhere...

You should just be able to tell by looking at it, but I suppose if youve never seen a glossy screen before you wouldnt really know.

Feel it. If its smooth and soft to touch, its glossy. If its rough then its matte. What one did you order? Also, if you hold it to a light, you will be able to see reflections in it if its Glossy, and if its matte you wont (or maybe just a slight glint of the light, depending on how strong the light is).

If you want to post a pic I will tell you, and you will be able to show off your new machine aswell hehe. Looks like alot of people are starting to gets theres a little quicker now, but still there seem to be a few that are still having trouble.

Ok, yeah, its Matte. I thought it was but I couldnt find anything anywhere that said whether it was Matte or Glossy :/

I ordered Matte btw :)

this keyboard feels really nice and light compared to my old microsoft one!

I called up the Tech Support today, was online for 40 minutes with a very helpful rep but he couldn't help much either at the moment and will escalate it further. It seems that the tech rep was given different information from different teams, the HE team said that I'm supposed to get the 3-yr warranty but the warranty team said that nope, to get the 3-yr warranty, I need to buy the optional AppleCare package. Will need to give them another call next week and see what they could do about it .. otherwise, I'll push them to give me the AppleCare package at the advertised £50(+VAT) price. Better safe then sorry..!

Anyway, to be in a safe side, go to Apple UK support and shove in your serial number and check if you get the 3-yr limited warranty or just a yr limited warranty.. give the tech support a call. I'm sure there are many cases like mine..

The HE warranty deal was all a bit confused when I ordered my MBP. The guy on the end of the HE sales line said there was 'limited' three-year support, and when I pressed him what 'limited' meant he was all very vague about it. In the end I pieced together and he later confirmed that it meant full warranty support on parts and labour for 3 years, but with phone support limited to 90 days. This seems consistent with what I've read on various threads here.

http://www.apple.com/uk/education/hed/nationalcontract/ says: 'Special three year parts and labour coverage, with additional first-year warranty and support benefits, as standard' - which is clear up to a point. But definitely worth pursuing further I would have thought.

(Hi advocation - glad you got yours OK. Still waiting for mine...)
