It's good to know they're working on a fix as of just 6 days ago!

D2 just takes up too much resources running in parallels, and LoD is kinda broken gfx wise (menus render so badly as to be unusable) as well :(. Anybody tried it with vmware fusion? It would be just fine running on an imac or mac pro, but on a mac laptop you can't just let your cpu run at 70+ for hours on end.

I run LoD in Fusion every day, mostly just to load mules up with ITAMZ. It is important that you use the Direct Draw option and not Direct 3D if you actually want to play without graphical glitches.

I run 10.5.2 on my Macbook Pro and it still doesn't work. It's more of a graphics card issue methinks.

Indeed, I've tried it on a brand new out-the-box macbook pro with 10.5.2, and it crashes just like it does on my 10.5.3 mbp.

Indeed.

Any updates on the issue? I know it's completely minor and not very important at blizzard, but still, it's been many days since 10.5.3 was released.

...and my holidays are fast ending and back to uni :(

Apple and NVIDIA are working on it (among many many other things). We are satisfied with the progress to date, but do not have an ETA on a release.

Thank you for keeping us updated. It means a lot to hear from someone, even if it takes FOREVER. Much better then never hearing a thing, AND it takes forever

I can tell you that 10.5.5 fixes this bug. :)

Apple finally FIXED this bug, so we gotta celebrate this. Hopefully they won't break it again for the final candidate of 10.5.5 but my guess is we will be fine.

I didn't catch if this was the same issue as starcraft with the 256 colors support missing, but if D2 is fixed in 10.5.5, possibly Starcraft, too?
Here's to hoping!

Yeah the 256 colors issue is fixed so both of these games.

New to Mac

I'm brand new to Macs (got it two weeks ago and am loving it so far) and would love to get Diablo 2 working. How do you go about upgrading to 10.5.5 from 10.4.4? Thanks!

To get 10.5.5, you need the buy Leopard, then wait for the next update, as the current version is 5.4. But Diablo II should work on Tiger (what you have) anyway.

Also, if you are still on 10.4.4, you should run Software Update because 10.4.11 is the latest version of Tiger. Click on the Apple in the top left of your screen and select 'Software Update'.

I bought a new macbook. Wouldn't that mean I have lepord? I had already tried running a software update and got nothing from it. Thanks for any help you can give me.

Well It sounds like you meant 10.5.4, rather than 10.4.4. If that is the case, all you can do is wait till Apple officially release 10.5.5, which should be quite soon. Those who already have 10.5.5 only do because they are developers or something similar.

HAHA! You are correct. That was a definite typo. Will my macbook tell me that it needs to upgrade the software or should I just keep checking? Again, thank you so much for your help. I've been on PCs for too long. :)

I have Apple Developer Network access but never use it. If I downloaded the 10.5.5 drivers would that be safe? Like are they the final cut/stable drivers or just beta?

If you open System Preferences and select Software Update, you can tell it to automatically check for updates everyday:

Sorry, I'll have to leave it to someone else with more knowledge in that area to answer that.

Thank you so much! I really appreciate the help. I'll just have to wait for the update to get back to D2. Thanks again!

Thanks again rbarris! So its fixed in 10.5.5, and thus definitely on the horizon, great to hear!

Ooooo.... That makes me happy!
No more booting in XP just to play Starcraft and Diablo!
SC and Diablo are like the only games all my friend have that we can play together. THey also happen to be great games :p
Now, to see if I can transfer the Diablo character under XP to mac...

I heard a rumour that new iPods were being released on the 9th of September.

This would more than likely mean an update to iTunes - maybe an OS X update around there too? We can always hope I guess.

The source was just another forum, so yeah it may not be reliable.

D2 1.12a crashes on Tiger 10.4.11

Macbook pro 2.2 Ghz,

I can load the Game and enter the game play. However, soon after my character walks out of town, the game freezes up and I need to restart the computer. Is the nvidia 8600 Gt the problem ?

I freshly installed 1.12a (not upgrade from 1.11b)

Can any one help ? Thanks
