Mine doesn't lag. My galaxy was lagging machine. I would have rather had my old s4 over that pos s7. bad thing about it is when I bought them I bought 4 they all done the same sh*t. I won't go back to one. I had an lg g2 back when they came out that wasn't a bad phone, but galaxy and there touchwiz is a joke.
My husband and I haven't experienced an undue amount of lag with any of our Samsung devices. They are slower than the latest iPhones but not to the point we are frustrated with them. What my husband experienced with his S7 Edge was random severe battery drain. He found an app--sorry, I keep forgetting to get the name from him--that will identify and manage rogue processes that start running in the background and drain the battery. It is possible that in the case of my S7 those processes were also causing the random overheating I was experiencing. I turned my S7 back in to AT&T in exchange for my replacement Note 7, so we never did fully troubleshoot that phone. And no, I did NOT like my S7. I was having problems with it that most other S7 owners I've talked to don't have. But some do.
I think you may be here with a bit of a confrontational attitude but I will accept at face value that you are sincere in saying you gave Samsung a fair try and did not like your experience with them.
My time with Samsung phones so far tells me a few things. One, their management needs to grow up. Rushing the Note 7 out knowing full well they were going to have to compromise safety testing is symptomatic of an undisciplined, immature managerial mindset. They deserve every bit of scorn and derision and mistrust the public can heap on them for the Note 7 debacle.
Their constant baiting of Apple in ads and public commentary and their stupid publicity stunts like back when they were giving promotional items to people standing in line for iPhones is also symptomatic of this juvenile managerial mindset.
The overheating problem I and many other owners sprinkled around various forums have reported tells me they have a serious QC problem. Trust me, I'm not blindly handing over my money. I'm well aware of camera glass spontaneously cracking for some owners. Of the vulnerabilities of the GG5 edges to shattering. Of reports of overheating and yes, spontaneous combustion that may be legit among the many fraudulent claims out there.
The fact that my husband had to hunt down an app to control rogue processes to keep them from draining his battery and rendering his S7 Edge almost useless as a daily driver tells me there are issues with either Android or Touchwiz or both. These issues mean these phones aren't necessarily phones we will be wanting to pass along to my sister-in-law or any of our parents because they need a certain ability to manage and oversee and understand the phone on a level the iPhone user usually doesn't need to worry about. So we definitely will be keeping the rest of our family on iPhones. At least the older iPhones. (I'm having a whole other boatload of concerns about iPhone 7's that will have to be set aside for now.)
So I keep all those caveats and concerns in mind as I behold the beauty, functionality and joy of ownership that comes with my Note 7 so far. I would not recommend this phone to everybody. It's overkill for a lot of people I know and does require more discretion about downloading and managing apps than many iPhone owners are used to. You now also need a bit of thick skin and a sense of humor to shrug off the derision and hysteria over the exploding battery debacle. But if you have specific use cases, only the Note series can meet them, and the Note 7 may be the best Note of them all.
I think if the management of Samsung can learn from their mistakes and make smart choices to win back customer confidence, they can really turn a corner here. I know that when they pay attention to detail, they can produce an incredible device. But if they become full of arrogance and idiocy they can sabotage their beautiful products. They need to focus on quality, consistency, and customer service.
Meanwhile it seems Apple and other Android manufacturers aren't having such a great 2016 so far, either. Problems with iPhone abound on a level I've never seen plague a new iPhone release before.
LG customers are spitting venom about bootlooping problems. That concern is overshadowing what should be a joyous anticipation of the LG V20. People will say nice things about the V20 but in the next breath say they hope it doesn't bootloop like V10's are starting to do.
On an individual basis customers can get lucky and end up with the best iteration of just about any model from any manufacturer out there. But now more than ever before, it seems to be a real lottery even with the once reliable and exemplary Apple. Before, we mainly were concerned with cosmetic defects when it came to Apple. Now there is loud hissing and signal issues that render some phones unusable for some key functions.
Be an informed, aware consumer and study your options with as much objectivity as you can muster. And realize nothing stays the same and so much is in flux now that you can't afford to hold onto preconceptions, positive or negative, indefinitely in today's market.
Sorry for such a long post. I'll be heading into a busy week and weekend with my family so I'm not sure how much opportunity I'll have to pop in and participate this week.
You all have a great week!
