Frankly, what is the benefit of having an iPad defined as "Thinnest Apple product Ever" ? For most of the user, certainly not . For Apple, certainly more : less material used for the iPad case....

I mean one could argue it's a use of less resources? But the enclosure is entirely recycled so...

The one thing that they added that I wish I had is the brighter screen. I love my '22 12.9 Pro, but I wish the screen were brighter.
Wondering if the lack of mini-LED bleed through when watching movies will help with perceived brightness? Sometimes when watching a sci-fi/movie show with stars in the background the brightness bloom on my M2 was TOO much.

Considering it based on the trade value of my 12.9 M1. I would probably go to a smaller size. The 12.9 is unwieldy and as a result I use it less for normal browsing than my prior 9.7. That being said, it’s still basically and iPad, so I may just stick with what I have. It’s cheaper to just get a $349 iPad and use it for browsing and that kind of thing. There are other benefits related to docking and using as a music server while using the other iPad… decisions… decisions

I had the first larger Pro, but when I bought my 2018 Pro, I went for the smaller one. No regrets, it’s just so much more comfortable to use.

Basically enough upgrade to make me update my 2018 11" Pro to a 13", opting for the nano texture and hoping that will be a good choice.

But can't help thinking that the iPad really, really only would shine if it finally allowed full MacOS. The software and the hardware do not fit at all anymore. I think it would be easier to do that than to allow this weird iOS/MacOS blend of iPadOS. MacOS with some UI-work would be just fine for touch.

One reason I went with the 12.9" was due to the better backlighting technology...now with the new OLED being on both sizes it'll be a hard decision...eek.

So do I. But if you're on a website on your iPad and it requires you scan a document, surely you'd do it with the device you're already holding?
Good point. Maybe they could put a camera that is good enough for documents and not have a bump.

For you and I that would be ideal. I suspect the bump is necessary for the people that want to do AR stuff with their iPad.

Although to be fair they never cared about to keep SD card readers etc for those few that would want it. But I guess we can't complain as it is a fantastic product.

Honest question: how many people were overloading the M2 processors in their old iPad Pros? Does a faster M4 actually solve (or even improve) anything?

I just dont understand how Apple cant see that the iPad's bottleneck is the software, not the hardware.

Fair point, but they have a solution for that already: Camera continuity. On my mac when I want to scan a doc it will fire up the phone *in the photo app* without me needing to do anything at all. It's brilliant. No reason the iPad couldn't do that too... I mean, the code's already 95% written.

I'd rather just stick the dongle in and use that. As a drone user I've had to do this to review footage I had just shot for a friend and this was great.

Much like the original iPad Air I noticed that my M2 would get hot a LOT. Hoping the increased efficiency in the M4 solves this. That or I'll be able to use it to toast a Pop Tart.

It's almost as if they are pushing us to realize we need to buy a Mac as well. 🤣

How about when it's a child using the iPad and they don't own an iPhone? ;-) Or a family iPad connected to your wife's account?

Camera continuity is nice, however.

Did they reduce the back cameras to just 1 instead of 2 or am I reading that wrong haha

also nano or regular ? I’ve heard inconvenient things about nano

I have news for Apple

Nothing they’ve done here will help iPad sales at all
Oh I dunno. If I didn't need to upgrade my phone from an XR pretty soon (been saying that for almost too long) then I could definitely talk myself into the 15" iPad Air. But I'll probably work on the XR upgrade and then wait for an update to the iPad mini bc mine is ancient and I do like the size for reading ebooks. And THEN to the big iPad Air... and so to rice and beans without the beans for a long time. 🙄 🤣
