I ordered right at midnight PST, but somehow they got my address off by a number or two so of course when I called them today they said 1) either cancel and start a new order... WT* or 2) have it ship and correct address in shipment
Ugh.. anyone have experience with this?

What did you order?

iPhone XS Max 256GB Space Gray via IUP. Pre-qualified yesterday. Logged into the App today at 3:03am, completed at 3:04. Only option was shipment with a data range of Sept 28-Oct 5 (despite that config being available on the store for a while after, no store pickup options were available (despite being available on the website for hours afterward for pickup).

I'd love to just cancel this order and order a 512 available currently in a store near me for pickup on the 21st, but knowing my luck if I do it'll take a day or so to reset IUP and it'll be gone by then. :)

Shouldn't be surprised, but I tried giving apple a call and they basically said "due to high call volume we can't get to your call, please try again later" and hung up.

I bought the SIM-free model, so I didn't see it... but those who bought carrier specific versions are reporting it... and it's probably in their confirmation emails, as well.

Here's a post with a screen print that shows the $30 fee.
Thank you. I didnt get that. Maybe because I did the IUP or that my employer has a plan with ATT that waives activations fees?

Hi all! Ordering was painless this year! All except for changing my mind lol. Went for the MAX at the last minute. Coming from an 8plus I was wanting to switch to the XS and smaller body (due to girly pockets and mini purses) but at the last minute I couldn’t pull the plug! I couldn’t resist that full screen. Good luck next week as all our devices (hopefully) arrive on time. :)

You made a good decision. I have been wanting a bigger screen since I got my X last fall. I'd had the Plus phones before the X. The screen size is the only reason I'm upgrading this year. The X is still great, but screen is so small. I use landscape mode a lot because I can't read the small print when the X is in portrait mode. Yay for the Max! My iPhone Xs Max 256GB in Gold is arriving on 9/21!

I ordered my AT&T XS MAX silver 256gb through the Apple store. Went through at 3:05 am and got a delivery date of 9/21. I had to contact Apple @ 8am to change the shipping address and after I did that I still have a date of 9/21.
How did you manage to change the shipping address? I tried that and Apple support said they couldn’t!

Changed my mind this morning and cancelled my XS Max in gold and reordered the space grey instead. Got push to the week after launch date but the case & screen protector I ordered won’t arrive until next week as well. So silver lining i guess?

I went to the chat icon in the order on my phone and chatted with the rep. He looked up the order said he could change it and went ahead and made the change. I am glad they were able to make the change to have it come to my office rather than my parents house. I work in the family business and all the phones are on one account and that is where the bill goes to for AT&T, but I know that no one would be home next week when it was going to be delivered.

Does anyone recall from previous years what carrier Apple tends to use for delivery? I have ordered from carriers, and Apple directly but can't remember what Apple uses as opposed to VZ and TMo.

Woo Hoo Carol! So excited for ya! It’s good to know you missed the large screen with the X. Glad I made the right choice then! :)

I completed my order for the AT&T White/Silver 512GB Xs Max in at 1:07 Mountain time, for 9/21/18 launch day delivery. Not a single crash like in all the past years, but this time I ordered on my iPhone via Apple Store App.

I almost set my order to pick up at the store, but I didn't want to drive 18 miles to get there for a specific time window for the pick up. Within 7-8 minutes after I ordered (1:15AM), our only local store had no more of this model available for pickup.

Usually I go wait in line on launch day due to the crashes giving me a delivery date for the month after launch; then pick up a Verizon phone to use on my ATT account, since I can move to to any carrier later; and then cancel my online order, or use it for my wife or one of my kids.

PS: If I'd used Apple.com I would have picked SIM free, but the Apple Store app on my iPhone X loaded the store before Apple.com which was still preparing, and so I just used the default option in the app to "replace this phone" in case this launch was buggy like the others and trying to choose options might slow me down. I'll actually replace the X with the new Xs Max, and move my 7+ SIM into my old X to keep using it as my spare, and give my 7+ to my brother.

Right now I use the X as my primary phone, and my 7+ as an iPad "Nano", since my son got my iPad Mini 4 and my mother-in-law got my iPad Mini 2. Hard to decide if the Xs Max will become my primary, and the X will just be used to look things up while I'm on a phone call and I don't want to use speakerphone or BT to pull the phone off my ear to see the screen.

I also remember from years past when people order directly from Apple their AppleCare Support profile get updated with a serial number at some point...maybe when the phone ships?

Mine is UPS. I’m in southern Cali. Whenever my ups man delivers my new phone each year, he always says “congrats!” Haha. I think my trade in packet comes from Fed Ex though if I remember correctly.

Interesting thing - the sim free version of the iPhone wasn’t available via the Apple Store app.

No, it was on Apple's site. I saved as a favorite then it showed up in the App. I was lucky enough to get an SG and gold max. Same pick up date different times. I'll see which one I like better and then cancel the other when I pick it up
