Greetings Peeps,
Long time, no see - it's been a year. This year due to the Hurricane I had to push my vacation to Rome from the US a day earlier. I was on a plane at 37k Ft when Pre-ordering began....I will not be returning until the 26th. I didn't want to launch day release but was ok waiting till the week I'm home. I couldn't take it anymore so I paid money to get internet on the plane (I wasn't sure of the quality - in my experience internet on flights can be iffy at best). Luckily this flight had awesome internet - I completed my order around 330 ET AM and ordered an ATT NEXT Xs Max, Gold, 256. It's set to arrive Sept 28th-Oct 5th. This is the first year I haven't scored a launch day iPhone in HISTORY. Good luck everyone!!

Now that's real dedication!

I have also always scored a launch day phone, but less than half the times it's from preordering and the other half I have to wait in line, since the Apple site would always crash or hang up me until and I'd have to get in line.

Luckily, in the midsize city that I live in I found that most people in line by 3AM on launch day will usually get the phone they wanted (6 hour wait).

I ordered at 3:02, processing email at 3:12. Using the IUP to upgrade from an 8 to an XS, Silver, 256g. 9/21 delivery date.

Then my 8 fell out of my bag as I was biking to work and I cracked the glass on the back and cracked the camera lens.

I was already not sure if it was in good enough condition to send back without repair. No way would I get away with returning this phone with a broken back and camera. So now I have a genius bar appointment tomorrow to do a full device swap... total waste of $$$ when I'm sending this phone back in a few days! Really kicking myself.

Gonna fully kit out this XS with a case and a screen protector... not gonna keep upgrading yearly anymore. I'll pay the XS totally off and then decide if I want to upgrade again in 2020.

How did you manage to change the shipping address? I tried that and Apple support said they couldn’t!
I just spoke with them, they said that there should be a button to edit under the shipping address on the orders page. When I told them it was not there they looked into it and said that they have a temporary hold on all accounts and it should be fixed in a couple of hours.

I am really hoping to see and edit button in a couple of hours, no idea why Apple Pay thought I all of a sudden would want it shipped to my work address.

Hi guys just wanna ask: Ive never ordered a phone on preorder day through the apple store before. So when it says delivered on the 21st, does it mean it will start shipping on the 21st or guaranteed you will recieve on the 21st?

If it says 9/21 delivery, you will get it on 9/21. They'll be shipping in a few days.

so let the magic questions begin.

1. do we think it will be fedex or ups
2. who is going to have the package held at the UPS center. I did it last year and it worked out great, but it was so stressful, i might just cancel my day and stay home and wait all day/night for it this year. i dont know.

I’m thinking UPS for the phones. I think the series 4 will be FEDEX though.

I’m having my phone held at a UPS customer center. No worrying about being home or waiting all day. The only negative is that my customer center doesn’t open until 5:30 pm.

I knew there was supposed to be the button as well, but didn't see it either. That is why I went to the chat and had them do it. I am glad that it will be back up soon, anyway.

Any way to change an in-store pickup location? I pre-ordered an Apple Watch at a different store than my iPhone Xs and would love not to have to travel between the two.

Hello apple fans. I want to buy iphone max gold but from the apple store. So the question is: if I buy it on September 26-27, there will be lots left? The answer may be based on what happened in the past years.

Quoting the best info I've found elsewhere. With credit.

I made a new thread with this info, but it got lost into oblivion, so I’ll paste it here, in case anyone may find it useful!

It's that time of year again! I have gathered together a bunch of useful info for tracking your iPhone order (if you order it through Apple), perhaps the mods can sticky this, as I think people will find it helpful and it may help prevent duplicate question threads.

So, order date is in a few hours, 12:01am Pacific time on the 14th. Delivery date is the 21st.
This same info will work for those of you holding out for the iPhone XR later on!

Once our orders move to processing we should start seeing some movement to 'preparing for shipment' over the weekend.
Once this happens you should be able to get details on your phone and let the tracking begin!

Here are some notes to help track orders:

If your phone status has changed to "Shipped", you can view the invoice on the Apple site.
That invoice has the serial number on it.

Go to Apple.com, then pick the ORDERS page (the little "shopping bag" icon at the far right on the home page... go to your orders page). Now, log in, and find your iPhone order... and click on Print All Invoices to see your shiny new iPhone serial number.

You can look up the week of manufacture and factory here, using the serial number:
http://www.chipmunk.nl/klantenservice/applemodel.html
or
http://sndeep.info/en

Links for tracking:

http://www.ups.com/WebTracking/reference?loc=en_US
https://www.fedex.com/apps/fedextrack/?action=altref&cntry_code=us

Another way to find it, enter your phone number + zip:
https://www.villagedrapes.com/html/tracking.html

If your phone number isn’t working for UPS tracking, use your order number but subtract the last two numbers/letters. Say your order number is: W123456789, you'd put in: W1234567 - make sure to use the tracking by reference feature.

Flight info:
http://flightaware.com/live/fleet/UPS
http://flightaware.com/live/iphone
When you see the time that your flight leaves China (make sure that the UPS or FedEx info is showing it per China time, or do the math), and you can usually narrow it down

Have fun!!

I’ve changed mine a few years back by calling Apple, I remembered it didn’t affect the delivery date also.

Good to know -- my delivery date changed between placing the order and confirmation email, I gave them the address for where I'd be at the first date but I'll be in a different state on the new date. I'm hoping I can get them to ship to my work so wherever I am, it's there waiting there for me when I get back. I called Apple earlier but got a message saying they were unable to take the call due to high call volume, I'll try again this weekend.

I'm thinking about having my phone held at the local UPS center this year. What was stressful about it for you last year?

Trying to weigh pros and cons...UPS delivery in my neighborhood usually doesn't happen until after 3pm and often much later but the hub opens at 8am...would be really nice to get my phone earlier in the day!

Ordered a T-Mobile Silver Max 256 at about 4 mins after they went up. Noticed that I got my 8+ almost exactly one year ago as the XS Max will come. Look forward to this thread. I plan to have it held at UPS for pickup first thing in the morning. I did that last year and it worked out great.

I'm doing UPS pickup but also working from home that day. Worst case I'll just wait for it... but as long as you get your hold in early enough it works great.

Is it possible to authorize release without needing to sign for a iPhone once it ships? And also will it be possible to route the package to a UPS (Or FedEx) Facility? There is a chance we will be out of town Friday when the phone arrives.

My father in law lives nearby and I could send it to his house, but he works during the day so I would still need to authorize release without signature if possible.

You can have it held at a facility. I'm not sure about routing to another address. There is a release form you can fill out and sign via your order info on apple's site and UPS will drop it as long as they deem it safe to do so (still at driver discretion).
