Hi guys just wanna ask: Ive never ordered a phone on preorder day through the apple store before. So when it says delivered on the 21st, does it mean it will start shipping on the 21st or guaranteed you will recieve on the 21st?

Sorry do disagree with the previous posts, but based on my experience last year: it will go out for delivery on the 21st, but depending on how many deliveries you driver has and when he/she decides to call it a day, you may or may not get it that day. Last year in my area many phones were not delivered on Friday, FedEx (or was it UPS?) rescheduled them for the following Monday. Then they delivered some of them on Saturday. It was a real mess given that you need to be there to sign for it.

I just spoke with them, they said that there should be a button to edit under the shipping address on the orders page. When I told them it was not there they looked into it and said that they have a temporary hold on all accounts and it should be fixed in a couple of hours.

I am really hoping to see and edit button in a couple of hours, no idea why Apple Pay thought I all of a sudden would want it shipped to my work address.
I'm in this same exact boat. They said it would be fixed in a couple of hours, at which point I can edit the address. I pressed and asked what happens if it stays like this until it advances to "Preparing for shipment" (at which point the address can't be updated), and they said that won't happen until next week, so I'll have plenty of time.

I guess we'll see! If you're able to edit yours, will you post saying so, so that I can check mine? I'll do the same.

Is it possible to authorize release without needing to sign for a iPhone once it ships? And also will it be possible to route the package to a UPS (Or FedEx) Facility? There is a chance we will be out of town Friday when the phone arrives.

My father in law lives nearby and I could send it to his house, but he works during the day so I would still need to authorize release without signature if possible.
I think it's a "No" usually on both counts - no rerouting (unless you change the shipping addy before it flips to Preparing for Shipment) and no signature release - but I also think it depends on your driver. Sometimes I've signed and other times the driver knocked, dropped it on the doorstep and by the time I open the door they are halfway back to the truck. They have to deliver an insane quantity of phones that day so I can't say as I blame them.

And let's not forget this gem...

I'm doing UPS pickup but also working from home that day. Worst case I'll just wait for it... but as long as you get your hold in early enough it works great.

I've had my iPhone shipments held at the UPS pickup center a couple of times. It worked fine, except for when I waited for 30 minutes worrying while they tried to locate the package on their shelves.

I'll probably do the same thing this year and have it held by UPS.

Ordered with the app last nite at 3am EDT. Took just a few seconds since I set up my order so it only needed on click the moment the store reopened. My email says

Items to be Shipped
Shipment 1
Delivers: Fri, Sep 21 by Standard Delivery
iPhone XS Max 512GB Silver, AT&T

I'm thinking about having my phone held at the local UPS center this year. What was stressful about it for you last year?

Trying to weigh pros and cons...UPS delivery in my neighborhood usually doesn't happen until after 3pm and often much later but the hub opens at 8am...would be really nice to get my phone earlier in the day!
so if you change to the hub you run the risk of there being a delay, UPS is one of the worst, and I wish we had fedex, but it worked flawlessly last year* but we didnt know until the last moment if I would be able to get it Friday or Monday, they are closed on the weekends so I do not think I want to gamble again this year, I'd rather have it 3-6pm friday than 8am monday in traffic

Ups isn’t the worst? Who do you think Apple used before UPS. I had my iPhone X held at the hub last year, and I was able to pick to up as soon as they opened no problem.

so let the magic questions begin.

1. do we think it will be fedex or ups
2. who is going to have the package held at the UPS center. I did it last year and it worked out great, but it was so stressful, i might just cancel my day and stay home and wait all day/night for it this year. i dont know.
UPS Apple has a partnership with them, they had fedex before. I’m going to have mines held at the hub like I did last year.

Long time no see man!!

Somehow my apartment number didn’t show on shipping address, but it does for the billing address. Weird. Is it possible to call Apple to change it? Would it impact my 9/21 delivery date?

For those who might also be wondering. I was able to edit my ship-to address online, in my case, just adding an apt number, and it didn't change my 9/21 delivery date.

can second this. I called right when the phone lines opened and they were able to add my apartment number in 30 seconds with no change to the 9.21 delivery

I was able to edit my ship-to address online about an hr ago. You might want to check again.

I've had items held at a local FedEx Kinkos before but not sure if you can do that with an iPhone delivery. It's worth checking out in the app once it's been shipped.

i love coming back here each year, the drama, the saga, the hurricanes. its fun and awful all at the same time. the planes, the arrival scans... etc..
IT'S THE MOST WONDERFUL TIME OF THE YEAR!!

I think someone posted either here or elsewhere the usual "Fact Sheet" of what to expect, including the UPS flight tracker at FlightAware.

My birthday is the end of September so iPhone pre-order season always aligns with getting a new toy right in time for my birthday.

It's very nice getting the device at 8 am when the UPS Customer Center opens! I've done that for several iPhone releases. I pick it up, and I have the rest of the day to set it up and enjoy the device. I don't understand why having it held for pickup was stressful to the other person: I find it more stressful waiting around all day and worrying that the driver will attempt delivery when I'm in the bathroom, etc. Sometimes they don't leave the package even with a signature release form on the door (sometimes, they don't attempt delivery but say that they did). Anyway, if you have a Customer Center within reach, I think that's the best way to go.

My UPS Distribution Center was open at 8am and i was the second one in line, i was out of there by 8:05am last year. There was a lineup after me, but they knew what i was coming for so they pretty much had them ready to go.

Are they going to allow us to change the shipping address in a couple hours?

Seems like some of us were able to change the shipping address, while some not. Not sure what's the reason. I was able to change mine about an hr ago.
