I’m thinking UPS for the phones. I think the series 4 will be FEDEX though.

I’m having my phone held at a UPS customer center. No worrying about being home or waiting all day. The only negative is that my customer center doesn’t open until 5:30 pm.

That’s what I want to do with the watch. I forgot to put pick up at Apple store when I preordered. When I find out if it will be Fed Ex or UPS, I’ll try to get them to hold it for me.

My wife would kill to be able to travel that much or to places like that.

I've had a UPS Store mailbox since 1999 (back when it was Mailboxes Etc) when I closed my medical practice, and needed medical record requests to go somewhere other than my home. So, I've been using them to sign for packages all this time, and then I can pick them up Mon-Sat at my convenience. When we do get to travel my packages are safely waiting for me. For instance, our being gone for a week in October.
Our daughter and grandson live in the Netherlands so we go see them (and go somewhere else too) when they have vacation time. I am very fortunate I know. So happy to have the Max iphone to watch videos on the long plane rides

Apple uses Fed Ex in the states.

Absolutely not true. Every phone or watch delivered to me from Apple in the last 5 years (or more) has come via UPS. Every one of them. Computers, cables, adapters and accessories, iPads, etc DO come FedEx, but NOT phones or watches.

Won't happen. Fed Ex and UPS are not allowed to deliver early.

It happened a lot with the iPhone 4... and Apple read them the riot act. It seems that every year there are random reports of someone getting their phones early, but I absolutely would not count on it...

Gonna wait until the 27th for my upgrade anniversary. Hopefully shipment dates aren't too bad by then.

With the IUP, the upgrade date is the date you purchase the new device right, not the day you activate it? So if I bought the phone now and it got here on the 28th, I'd still have to the pay $50 early upgrade fee from my X?

its not really a fee, you will pay the ~$50 either way, you just have to have made 12 payments. if you haven't made your 12th yet, then, you can pay it at checkout along with the first payment and tax.

This has been my experience as well. The only two things that have come from Apple to me by FedEx were Apple iPhone Cases and Express Replacement iPhones.

iPhones, iMacs, MacBook, Apple Watch...all came UPS.

Ups isn’t the worst? Who do you think Apple used before UPS. I had my iPhone X held at the hub last year, and I was able to pick to up as soon as they opened no problem.
Same. I have done it for the last three years. No issues. Pick it up at 8:00 am Friday morning.

To the ones asking about changing the shipping address. I spoke to Apple and the man claimed that it couldn’t be changed if you were IUP. Not sure how true that was as I was able to use a different address last year. I’m wondering if the people that were able to edit it paid in full.

Hmmm, I thought you can't change it until it says preparing to ship.. But my phone was in the preparing to ship stage like 20 minutes after placing the order. its in the processing stage and I cannot change the order..

I just called about this (and actually got through). My order says processing but the person I spoke to said these orders are actually in some holding state. I'm not sure if that's just for the later than 21st deliveries, mine's the 28th - Oct 5th. She said it should go into the real processing state within 24 hours, and at that point we should be able to edit the address ourselves. Until then she put a note on the order with the updated address, but said I'd need to call back to confirm it once the order is in processing. She said a lot of people are calling about not being able to change the address.

Same here. So far, nothing.
I was getting too stressed waiting for the edit button to appear, which it has not yet. I gave online chat another go and the chat employee told me right off the bat that they can't make shipping address changes but phone support can. I gave phone support a call, asked them to change the shipping address to be the same as my billing address and after a couple of minutes on hold she told me that she had made the change. I now see the correct shipping address on my order page.

I highly recommend making the call to apple, the hold time was only a little over 10 minutes.

Quick question for those who have scheduled pickup at apple store for the 21st. My allotted time is 11:00 am fpr the Xs max. I plan on showing up when they open to try and get a series 4. Any chance I can get my phone at that time if I can get a watch?

I'm iUP, the person I spoke with didn't say anything about not being able to change it, just that they can't change it yet. I'm hoping the person you talked to didn't know what they were talking about!

I have done that before, where I arrived a few hours before my allotted time, and I was able to pick up my phone without any problems.

It's very nice getting the device at 8 am when the UPS Customer Center opens! I've done that for several iPhone releases. I pick it up, and I have the rest of the day to set it up and enjoy the device. I don't understand why having it held for pickup was stressful to the other person: I find it more stressful waiting around all day and worrying that the driver will attempt delivery when I'm in the bathroom, etc. Sometimes they don't leave the package even with a signature release form on the door (sometimes, they don't attempt delivery but say that they did). Anyway, if you have a Customer Center within reach, I think that's the best way to go.
**** i might do it. but idk my city is wacko

Cool! Thanks, wasn't able go get a watch at my late time of ordering the phone so thought I'd run in at open and try to grab one and my phone at the same time

Does this mean I would avoid the activation fee? How can I check if I picked the right carrier.... I know horrible but I was half asleep.

It should say on your order what carrier the phone is.

And no on the activation fee.

So happy that it was so easy to order I was in and out by 3:05 with the Max Gold 256 on ATT Next

Last year was a HORRIBLE disaster. Couldn’t get on and when I finally did I kept getting errors. I thought it was going to be the first year that I wouldn’t get it on launch day. BUT I was able to get in the ATT que an hour later and still got my X delivered on launch day. I was shocked I always order through the Apple app and couldn’t believe that ATT came through for me last year!

It was so nice to be able to launch the Apple app this year and it was smooth sailing to order it. Can’t wait to get my shipping notice. I was charged for tax at 5AM today.

Super excited to have the bigger screen too! Last phone was a 7 Plus and I missed the big screen a lot! Hope y’all have a great day
