Faster yes, easy no. I waited 2h to get my phone at the hub last year. There is a truck that goes back and forth to the warehouse. Have to deal with ticked off ups employees that hate their job... the whole nine yards
Guess it depends on your location...the first time I did it, I went right at opening and the package had not yet made it there from the other building. The guy took my cell number and called me the minute it came in, so I would know exactly when to come back.

Is it concerning if you have two phones/two orders and one is trackable through UPS but the other isn’t (both still showing pfs in Apple)? I’ll still get both on Friday, right?

This is the first year I've requested to pick up my package at the Hub, but from all the comments I've read it seems to be a very easy process. (fingers crossed) You need to sign up for the free UPS My Choice account and you will then be given an option to request to change your Delivery Method to have it held for you at a location of your choice.

From what I understand, it's pretty critical that you select your UPS Customer Center (hub) which is the location that your packages are initially delivered before being put on a truck. If you choose anything else, then it will likely delay your package by at least a day because it has to go on a truck and then be delivered to the holding location...the same process it goes through to get to your house. The only time I would think that would be a better option is if you can't be home to sign for it and you don't care if you might not be able to pick up your phone until Saturday/Monday.

FWIW I’ve always selected a UPS retail location and never had it delayed, but agree that can vary by region/city.

No worries. My experience has been that the phone is already in the states. Last year I had no activity until Wednesday and it got here on time on Friday. All the activity we see now are for phones that are still in China. I ordered a X 256 SG (2:11 am cdt confirmation email) and have not gotten a UPS hit yet either.

Fort Worth! Yeah, I’ve has the same experience. I remember seeing no activity until close to the delivery date and then suddenly my tracking was updated with quite a bit of package movement: ups just hadn’t updated anything.

My tracking info showed up in UPS My Choice overnight (woohoo!) and I got my request put in to have the phone held at my local UPS CC. It's the first time I've ever had the phone held for me to pick up, so I'm super anxious about it all working smoothly! I'm putting a lot of faith in all of the positive comments I've read from you veterans who do it this way every year; don't let me down!! :)

Make sure your ID matches the shipping address, if not take a utility bill (gas, cable, electric) to show proof. There have been some disappointed folks in the past.

Well I got up at 7 AM this morning (Illinois CDT) and of course nothing on apple still preparing to ship LOL. So I go to my UPS account ready to go through the track by reference ritual ;-). And I clicked on my UPS choice (nothing showing on the main tracking page that shows when you click on track) and viola my phone is in system today. And as I was looking at the actual detailed tracking data from the tracking link I first saw it had departed Shenzhen already. And by time I got to making screen dump it updated to having arrived at Hong Kong main airport two hours after leaving Shenzhen. Real movement finally, and like most of you Apple still says shipping is in preparation LOL pretty normal experience. (256 GB space gray Xs)

I think what happens is if you select the UPS CC / hub it doesn’t get delayed. However if you select a UPS Store it goes to the hub first then gets put on a truck and sent to the store that’s what causes the delay I think. If you select the CC should be go to go

IIRC (and you may remember as well) last year they sat in Anchorage but “missed” a scan so to speak-the customs scan was a bit late so they had moved on out of ANC before we got the tracking updates. I believe it was ANC-ORD-SDF-BOS. As for the Departure/Arrival Scan in CGO-that was covered in an Article about the logistics-they arrive to the customs zone and then are “imported” and “exported” at the same time by pallet.

I do also remember ... but I don’t thing UPS makes a stop at Chicago O’Hare (ORD).

I've got the 2:10 AM Arrival scan on my tracking. Was looking to set it up for pick up at my local CC this morning but it appears the CC is not an option for me this year. It just doesn't show up on the list. So now I am debating sending it to a local UPS store but I am wondering if anyone has experience with that. Sometimes I think I've seen that it delays your shipment date by a day. Anyone with experience?

Talked to UPS support. Going to a UPS store will delay it by a day. CC is obviously same day.

So super bummer that I can't select the CC. I will be home most the day but UPS doesn't come until pretty late in the day. CC opens at like 9am.

I'm a silver XS, 256 verizon, and don't have anything in UPS yet. Does it seem like the Max phones were on the top of the pile??

Me also but I’m in France so maybe there is a difference as far as tracking is concerned. Somebody said that we wouldn’t see anything before shipments arrive in Europe.
Did you order on apple.com or the french site ? Just curious because if you used the french site very probably your phone could be already in europe and it will show up only the day before 21st

In the app you click the tracking number > delivery change. You find the correct CC (Customer Center). In which is associated with your address that handles your packages..
Thanks! I tried that and couldn’t find my usual cc. Had to call ups to manually change it
