That's Jeff Williams, a strong contender to be the next CEO of Apple.

Pretty much everybody there had 0 personality and sounded way too artificial. Cringeworthy, even.

Then again Craig Federighi's first keynote was not very good either so maybe they'll improve next time around.

So its official.... the perfect sized iPhone (the Xr) is purposely stripped down so you have to buy the too small X or the too big X Max to get all the goodies.

Stupid.
It’s “purposely stripped down” so it doesn’t cost $1,049.

A phone that’s $300 less isn’t going to have all the flagship features.

I own an X and I can understand the reason why they’re discontinuing it, is because it’s really over built phone build with the premium parts beyond what any other phone components before it.

The XS is basically the same phone with the faster A12 processor and components that are made of plastic rather than metal inside.

Oh, this is bad. I like my SE. It's the only normal-sized phone they had!

Please give me examples of 4-inch (not $5 low cost stuff from India) phones released on the latest Android version in the past year.

4-inch has not been the “normal” at least since 2014.

snip... and my similarly sized iPod Touch fits wonderfully in my shirt pocket. My work issued iPhone 6s is a tight fit, and I'm a big guy.
A 6s is a tight fit for a shirt pocket?
What kind of shirts you wearin’?
An 8Plus fits in a shirt pocket.
Of course you wouldn’t want to bend over with one in there. :p

What happened to all the Iphone X? While the price point is a bit high for the Xs, I would be interested in a discounted X

I get some of my button down shirts from a uniform company (TWO shirt pockets). The left shirt pocket has a stitch to keep a pen straight up. I also use a protective cover for my iOS devices BECAUSE I bend over with one in there, and have the cracked old iPod screens to prove it.

Leaving a phone in a shirt pocket screams mid-50s dad with car keys hanging from the belt.

Makes sense.
Thx

I am in Sweden, and I SE everywhere. Ok, mainly women, but they are popular in my surroundings too.

This is a good point. I wonder if Apple has data about men vs women using their phones. It's likely that women have smaller hands than men on average and would do better using smaller phones. I've seen many women crack their phones because they were too big for them and they couldn't hold them easily. They have men and women's watches - why not for phones too?

Steve would have never allowed this.

You're right - under Steve, a cheap/compact device would *NEVER* have been eliminated! (*cough* iMac G3 discontinued before eMac *cough*)
You're seeing what you want to see, and only care about your own personal desires - mapping them to everyone.

Yes, a number of people are disappointed at the loss of the smaller device. But at the same time, it is a very low seller. (Source: My wife works for a carrier that targets retired people - therefore lower-income and less tech savvy. The iPhone SE was their lowest selling iPhone, by an order of magnitude - even though they sell it for *HALF* what they sell the 6s for. Among Android phones, they offer a couple "small" models, they barely sell any of them.)

"Zeroed out customer satisfaction"? Apple has the highest customer satisfaction ratings in the mobile phone industry.

"Bottomed out"? Their stock price doesn't say so.

Oh, I want a new Mac mini, MacBook Air, and Mac Pro as much as anyone. But not having updates of them doesn't somehow make Apple "rock bottom."

Really

Well, there’s not much charismatic people on Apple these days either.
And becomes more boring to watch these event as it goes.
Will save my time in the future for more inspiring things.

Really disappointed here. I upgraded from the 5 to the 6 when it came out and hated it, and immediately preordered the SE as soon as it was announced. I love it. For those of us with small hands (and with women's pockets -_-) the new iPhones are all massive. While I'd love an upgraded screen and camera, it's not worth it to me for something that annoys the crap out of me every time I pick it up. Crossing my fingers my SE lasts me another couple of years, and hopefully Apple with realize they're missing a big chunk of the cell market in the meantime.

The single digit sales % for the SE tells Apple there is not a "big chunk" that want a small phone.

Thank You, Mister Cook, for eliminating the only small phone in your line up. The only Phone, that is not a ridiculous phablet.

I had no idea, that You zeroed out customer satisfaction.

And still no new mac mini. Apple just hit rock bottom.

Bozos all over the place.

Steve would have never allowed this.

You are not in Apple's demographic. And for the record, Steve Jobs would've X'd out all iPhones and just kept the newest ones in the lineup, the SE would've been history a long, long time ago.

Right after work I went straight to my local Apple store to pick up a 128GB iPhone SE just to have a spare. It's a perfect little phone, and it's dismaying that Apple doesn't recognize that.

With today's announcement of the iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max, and iPhone XR, Apple has officially discontinued the iPhone SE and the iPhone 6s, the two iPhones that it was selling as its most affordable smartphones.

The iPhone SE was Apple's last remaining 4-inch device, and now the smallest phone that Apple sells is the 4.7-inch iPhone 7 and iPhone 8.

appleiphonelineup-800x211.jpg

Apple has also discontinued the iPhone X, something that we were expecting based on rumors. The iPhone XS and the iPhone XS Max replace the iPhone X.

Apple's new lineup is as follows:

[*]iPhone 7 with pricing starting at $449
[*]iPhone 7 Plus with pricing starting at $569
[*]iPhone 8 with pricing starting at $599
[*]iPhone 8 Plus with pricing starting at $699
[*]iPhone XR with pricing starting at $749
[*]iPhone XS with pricing starting at $999
[*]iPhone XS Max with pricing starting at $1,099

The iPhone 7 is now Apple's cheapest device at $449, which is $100 more expensive than the now-discontinued 32GB $349 iPhone SE. With the discontinuation of the iPhone 6s and the iPhone SE, Apple no longer sells an iPhone that includes a headphone jack.

The iPhone 7 models come with 32 or 128GB of storage, while the iPhone 8 models are available with 64 or 256GB of storage. The iPhone XR is available with 64, 128, or 256GB of storage, while the iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max are available with 64, 256, or 512GB of storage.

Apple's iPhone XS and XS Max smartphones will be available for pre-order this Friday, with a release date coming on September 21, while the iPhone XR will be available for pre-order on October 19 with a ship date of October 26.

Apple no longer sells an iPhone with a headphone jack...

And in other news I'm officially done with Apple.

I love my SE. Its been very durable. Flat edges makes it easy to prop up when flashlighting. Good battery runtime. I use the headphone jack a couple times a day. Just an all round great phone with flat edges (also which makes it easy to hold when on the phone.)

But I have yet to run into someone else that also has an SE. And people that see mine can't understand it.

My guess is the user support was not there so Apple closed up shop in the SE.

Disappointing but not surprising.
