Where were you in the years when Apple spun 3.5" as perfection... and then 4" as perfection? I recall almost no such comments about them when Apple endorsed them... when "one-handed use" was seemingly paramount and anything with a screen bigger than 4" was an "abomination." Funny how our opinions can so readily evolve to fit whatever a corporation has for sale at the moment.

I'm an NBA-sized man myself and I can see the merit of an SE-sized phone and right up to phablet-sizes. To each his own. One may readily agree or disagree with your opinion but there was a time when every iPhone fan readily laid their money down to buy the "perfection" of a 3.5" and then the "perfection" of a 4-inch iPhones- generation after generation- gushing, praising and defending the size to any and all challengers. If it was "perfection" for them then, it could still be perfection for them now... not 'getting lost in their pocket or purse' then or now.
After trying the SE, 8 and 8plus I can say one thing. The + is too large for me. If my 5S died, I would probably have to buy either SE or 8 as Apple does not longer make an flag ship iPhone I would consider buying. I find both SE and 7/8 sizes great. Not so the new X/Xs/Xr/whatever paddles. :(

Just curious, any value in my iPhone X now? If so, I’m going to move on selling and head elsewhere.

The single digit sales % for the SE tells Apple there is not a "big chunk" that want a small phone.[/QUOTE]
It is not clear that the single digit is of units, or revenue. But even so, according to the link below, Apple was on track to sell 20,000,000 iPhone SE units in 2017. That's a lot of phones, even if it is a "small percentage". Those lost sales will not just go to the bigger, more costly iPhones. Some would go to the used market, some will go with a cheap flip phone or without, and many would go to Android.

Apple continues to sell the iPod Touch, though it sells much less than the iPhone SE. The iPod Touch keeps people in Apple's system. The iPhone SE similarly keeps people for the App Store, Apple Pay, iTunes, build the developer base, etc. Today's iPhone SE buyers will largely be tomorrow's Apple iPhone Xs buyers.

Apple may make less money on the iPhone SE than they do on the 7, 8 and X lines. They aren't losing money on it though; nor does Apple have a capacity or cash flow problem.

So if I accidentally smash my iPhone X, I’ll only have to pay the deductible to get an new iPhone Xs, as soon as they are available. I guess I don’t need to trade-in, upgrade and start the cycle over. Problem solved. Gotta love accidental...you’re welcome ;)

Right after work I went straight to my local Apple store to pick up a 128GB iPhone SE just to have a spare. It's a perfect little phone, and it's dismaying that Apple doesn't recognize that.

They do, and they just sold you another one. This kind of discontinuation forces customers to go out and buy old stock and it works.

Down the line all we can really hope for now is a smaller XR, which probably won’t happen for another 6-12months. Even then with the bar set this high, their new small phone will probably be 4.5”, and be $200 more expensive than what an SE was.

You are not in Apple's demographic. And for the record, Steve Jobs would've X'd out all iPhones and just kept the newest ones in the lineup, the SE would've been history a long, long time ago.
I'm not so sure. Jobs could be pretty stubborn when it came to his personal aesthetics, and he stuck with the small screen for a long time. Going back, he resisted putting cooling fans in the Mac, Fat Mac and Mac Plus, because THEY MAKE NOISE. The SE came out over a year after Jobs resigned from Apple. Jobs also resisted multi-button mice, and would reintrocuse past market failures (e.g. Apple Cube). Jobs wanted a hadheld device that could be operated with one hand. I can barely do that with an iPhone 6s, and I have large hands. It is a breeze with an SE or an iPod Touch. Jobs would sometimes let his intuition or emotional responses override the numbers. Cook doesn't have the same approach.

Good point. I actually was hoping for an update to the SE, but really wasn’t surprised that not only it didn’t get an update, it also got discontinued.

It’s interesting, before the iPhone 6 was released, a LOT of people were complaining about how small the screen on the iPhone was compared to other phones. Now that the iPhones have bigger screens, people are complaining that they’re too big.

Damned if you do, damned if you don’t.
Easy solution, provided updated version of both.

But that's too much to ask, from the richest company on the planet, I suppose.

Thank You, Mister Cook, for eliminating the only small phone in your line up. The only Phone, that is not a ridiculous phablet.

I had no idea, that You zeroed out customer satisfaction.

And still no new mac mini. Apple just hit rock bottom.

Bozos all over the place.

Pricing some of us out of this market. Will hold onto my SE for as long as it lasts. Then? Any small Nokias still out there?

Steve would have never allowed this.

I think they will do a smaller XR, just not yet, as everyone would have bought that over the larger size. And going forward that’s basically the end of the home button. However it’s configured, I imagine we’ll get XI phones next year, and XR will be the new standard model - hopefully with a little sibling.

WoW! iPhone X discontinued already? What a bitch Tim Cook the worst thing ever happened to Apple. iPhone X isn't even that old to be discontinued damn Tim Cook all he cares about is money not Tech.

Steve cared about the consumers even if the prices were high he still cared about Tech and design not just making money Tim Cook does not care about consumers just fanboys because he knows they will buy anything even a phone made out of Apple Tin Foil.

I second this!

iPhone X was released November 3, 2017 not even 3-4 years passed which is usually how long a Applecare lasts or gets OS updates or purposely new OS slows iPhone or kills battery. **** I got my iPhone X January 2018 wow not even a year old this is a insult who looked at Apple as being innovative might as well make Microsoft what they use to be before again.

Very Very sad to see the SE go. A damn fine iPhone for many - great size, great camera, very nice screen and super speedy!
I see them EVERYWHERE over in Paris!

Not to mention iOS 12 turned it into a refresh beast of a smaller phone. I find myself using it more because of that. Main device is the 10 and not upgrading that either. I’m bummed they discontinued the iPhone SE though. It’s still good enough to sell.

The manufacturing process for the SE vs. the X is probably pretty drastically different. With only 8% of sales, just didn’t make sense to continue it. Complain all you want, but it just wasn’t a big seller. And, from Apple’s perspective, they probably saw it as the lost cost alternative, which has now been taken over by the 7.

Sad to see there's no replacement for the SE. I really don't care about most of the capabilities anymore, but do occasionally need to check an e-mail or something.

My 6+ and the wife's 6 will live on, so guess I better get the batteries replaced.

You can always buy a discontinued iPhone on Swappa. I buy all my devices from that site. I trust that site 100x more than any other marketplace.
