Saudi Arabia does not have turn by turn feature , does not have 3D buildings and building model. We can't really talk about new Maps data for Saudi Arabia and the Palestinian territories but rather about an upgrade.

To tell the truth, I don't understand why Apple listed these two countries as new Maps data when Apple did not collect images. Really no interest in doing this upgrade without the turn by turn in Saudi Arabia. Maybe Apple has encountered too many problems and decided to postpone the big update until later.

I’m confused about Saudi Arabia as well. I recall seeing pictures during the testing phase that showed 3D buildings there. (And pretty detailed, at that).

Odd for sure. Israel definitely is the winner by a long shot in terms of changes. New maps, 3D buildings, Look Around, and I also saw they have Transit now.

Yep, here as well! 🥳
Did have a funny situation earlier where I only got the traffic lights and updated voice while navigating, but no buildings. Now the buildings are there too :)

Interesting article on changes at Waze and its future.

Yet recently I’ve heard Waze being advertised on a radio station I stream via Apple Music to/from work.

Interestingly there’s still no look around in Monaco even though they updated the map there months ago. I guess they skipped it.
I thought about it when I saw Liechtenstein. Liechtenstein even has Poi labels in look around. Andorra received it a few months later. In my opinion, Apple should have focused on Monaco rather than releasing Saudi Arabia and the Palestinian Territories, which ultimately does not bring much new.

Apple said that it would be available later this year in its French press release. We are also waiting for the detailed city experience in Sydney and Melbourne which were said to be available by the end of the year during the WWDC keynote.

We know that Melbourne and Sydney are very close to release as there have been several 3D model changes made as well as bridge pylons added over the past month or so.

For the first time, I was able to experiment with new map data in France. Apart from a half turn prohibited on the road, I found the quality of the new map data incredible. I will soon be able to experience the detailed city in London. I look forward to.

Someone on Reddit was wondering why 3D satellite was missing from San Diego when it was there before. While checking that out (it’s true) I also was checking Look Around. That has actually been updated. My friends house originally had its garage door open on the original imagery. It’s now closed in the updated version (August 2021).

I’ve officially given up trying to understand the rollout of Look Around in the USA.

Is anyone else here hearing crazy street names?

"Turn left onto 29th Road quotation mark."

"Turn left onto Cherry Avenue ow".

"Turn left onto Cross Island Parkway Cross Island Parkway SerVICE Road south dollar sign."

This has been happening to me regularly since iOS 16 debuted. Happens consistently at the same locations every single time.

While I've uncovered many such locations here in New York City, it's not limited to The Big Apple. I heard one or two of these in Chicago or Iowa late last year.

Not here….I did notice that Siri’s voice changed yet again in ios16, but in a good way. So much more natural sounding.

Also haven't noticed this here (BE).

Just saw this for the first time this morning, the new maps shows warnings for severe snow and ice while navigating, nice!

And all of Australia has cycling directions!

Looks like there's some new Look Around imagery too, from February 2022 in Sydney.
Sounds like Puerto Rico and the US Virgin Islands also have cycling directions now as well. Should be interesting to see what Apple has next in line!

I recall on Reddit recently, that was mention of a lot of backpack collection going on in the US and most (if not ALL of it) ends in July (June, maybe? Haven’t looked at the website). Could mean something in terms of a wider release of something by September 🤔 At one point, I figured backpack collection could be related to Look Around releases (like maybe they wanted to start releasing Look Around areas only AFTER doing BOTH vehicle and backpack collection). I’m doubting that a bit though because my county (Chicago area) has had both vehicle and backpack collection done…but we don’t have the detailed city experience or Look Around. Both of those collection methods were done here a year (maybe longer at this point) ago.

Yeah after having a look around (pun intended), there's a mix of imagery from November/December 2019 (the imagery we first got in Australia) through to April 2020.... the most recent stuff today is from December 2021 - January/February 2022.

You could be following a street with December 2021 imagery, turn the corner, and end up with December 2019 imagery!

Does anyone know how updated imagery works - ie would Apple progressively update the already captured imagery over the 'old' stuff?
