New Curve Update, but still no wallet support. They promised „Apple Pay soon“ since months.

Offtopic:

Do you use curve on a regular basis? It’s not official available in Germany is it? Do you know of curve will still work abroad after Brexit since they are a British start up?

Hanseatic Bank Visa also Shows T&Cs but doesn’t go any further

I ordered the curve card mainly as a backup solution to use Apple Pay with cards that don't support Apple Pay native, if I want to use Apple Pay with them. Call it "proxy card". It will be the much cleaner solution than boon. which sucks as it does not pass through merchant names and so on to the regular credit card bill.

And it is officially available in Germany and several other countries:
Curve is currently available in the UK and selected European countries.

The following is a list of eligible European countries:

  • Austria
  • Bulgaria
  • Czech Republic
  • Denmark
  • Finland
  • Germany
  • Iceland
  • Ireland
  • Italy
  • Latvia
  • Lithuania
  • Netherlands
  • Norway
  • Poland
  • Sweden
Later in 2018, we plan to start shipping cards to:

  • France
  • Greece
  • Portugal
  • Romania
  • Spain

Did Curve acknowledge Apple Pay? Or can I already install it through an Apple Pay active country?
The official wording is: "We're aiming to release Apple Pay and Google Pay in the near future... stay tuned!"
Which sounds as they are already in negotiations with Apple and Google.

Perhaps the Apple Pay fees crash their business case and profit margin. Even stylish hipster startup fintechs with no customer fees have to earn money in some way ;)

I don’t know if somebody already suggested it, but why not flipping the switch on the 30th in the evening/1st in the morning (German time)?
Would be before the next earnings call ;)

So starting AP in November makes no sense as the new products are supposed to get full media coverage.

It really looks like next week.

Don’t think it’s been postponed. T&C from three banks have been leaked (comdirect, Commerzbank, Hanseatic Bank), changes in the mobile payment activation system... Everything is more or less ready for launch.

Neither can I imagine that they will launch it on Nov. 1st. And October 30 makes no sense what so ever.

I would bet on a launch on 31st or later. Probably on the keynote they will announce several countries and I have a feeling we will see Apple Pay Cash very soon too.

Nov 1st is no general holiday. Just in five states and for example, DB, CommerzBank, N26, Amex, and so on ... none of them have their HQ in one of the affected states.

The Hypovereinsbank has ther HQ in Bavaria, which gets the Public Holiday... As well as Wirecard

And their IT department will be manned on 11/01 as well as any other data center in Bavaria that serves customers in whole Germany or other countries ;)

As I said before, service providers will be manned and work on 11/01 in Bavaria or BaWü, because customers in Hamburg, Cologne or Berlin don't care about a single holiday in Bavaria, if their paid services and products don't work. IT departments, service hotlines will work with reduced manpower, but they will work.
