Well, that doesn’t really mean anything. It’s not a bank. They „just“ make their app ApplePay ready.

I can’t imagine Apple tells all its German developers, hey, get your app ready, the launch is on X. Easyjet is smart and gets his app ready for whenever the official start is ;)
Sure do they talk to major app and web developers, to online stores and so on.

Would be a damn dumb idea to launch such a service with „pay online too“ without any apps and webshops supporting it.

As a developer, I can tell you Apple does tell developers. Apple has developer relations in Europe that often contact big players to help them and motivate them to build certain features into their apps. That includes Apple Pay.

Since easyjet is an UK airline I doubt that this has to do with the Apple Pay launch in Germany. It more likely to be just a coincidence. Why would they care especially about the German Apple Pay introduction if Apple Pay is available in the UK for a long time and in lots of other countries as well.

Just look at ASOS for example. They offer Apple Pay for German customers as well for years already even though there is no Apple Pay here yet.

I didn’t know that, thanks for pointing this out. I thought they do it it only with a few for the keynotes

Yesterday a representative of one of the participating banks also predicted a launch in November.
Very unusual!

Apple Pay won't launch next week. Apple will want full focus on whatever they have lined up and announce at the keynote in NY. Apple Pay in Germany will just have to wait a week.

Source? First you say: " a", after a while "b" and so on. We don´t know anything.
Edit: Sorry, I mixed- up some details. We are all guessing anyway.

Who's saying a, then b?

I've always stated I don't have any contacts in the banking sector. My educated guess was last week and this past week. That turned out to be false. Oh well. We live and learn.

But: A few credible people on Twitter (I think ie. Rudolf Linsenbarth has shown to have a very accurate track record) have now stated that it will be the first or second week of November. I believe them more than anything else. A journalist I was in direct contact with on Twitter has said this is the same thing he has heard. That's all I know and it matches. So that is what I believe is accurate information. Also: Apple Pay has never launched in the evenings or in recent years along with a software update (esp. on the same day as a keynote).

I also don't trust these private tech blogs that create the impression that they know what is going on. iPhone Ticker has very often in the past said it has direct contacts to people in banks and that Apple Pay was due to launch soon (yep, they said that 2016 and 2017). In the last few weeks they have gone from a launch in October, to a launch at the end of November (article a few days ago) to it launching next week Tuesday. I trust information with a certain amount of continuity.

PS: Essentially my impression is that not even the banks know the exact date. It is Apple who will have full control over the launch date and they control every aspect of a launch. The banks are at Apple's mercy and no one on that company will shed light on what really goes on. For us the downside is: Guessing game. Makes it more exciting I suppose :)

Oh, and if it does unexpectedly launch next Tuesday then... who cares: The earlier the launch the better :D

Understandably tensions are running high. We've been at this guessing game for a long time now, including false statements, deceptions and misleading hints... We've seen "insiders" come and go on this and other threads (or some "insiders" keep reappearing).

Once the damn thing launches we will probably need to find a new hobby on here (how about the thread: "When is Apple News finally coming to Germany?"). :p

Which banks will join next, which shops accept NFC/AP? Apple News launch? Public transport within Maps for Germany? When will Siri be smart enough to understand METALLICA songs correct? And so on...:p:D

This should worry the banks, what they are doing and if it is a really good idea to get locked up in this closed system with one only in command. ;)

Nobody is forcing them to make business with Apple. If they don’t want to they should make it like Sparkasse and say no screw you we bring blue code instead.... see how that works out. We are not in China and Sparkasse and bluecode is not Alipay or wechat.

So Amex has a page for ApplePay: americanexpress.com/de/applepay which redirects to the main page (different to like /adjfjwbx)

So I guess they are all ready and the next 1-2 weeks everything will go live

I have been checking the links from the first post. Apart from a couple of newspapers mentioning Amex launching Apple Pay in Germany, I never found an official confirmation from them directly.

Hopefully they will also support the free Payback cards. I assume so though, as in other countries you are able to add all cards on the Amex network (in the UK for example the free British Airways branded card). Has anyone ever seen some details on this anywhere?

I think I have read something about them going to support Apple Pay also with the free payback cards. But don’t know where I have read this. So no source
