Iw anyone else getting bored with the whole Apple Pay too? I was so thrilled when Apple finally announced it for Germany. But now it’s over four months later and it’s a up and down ... it’s getting to a point where I don’t really care anymore about it. I mean the hype will last only a couple of days or weeks at most anyway after the launch then it becomes second nature. But it’s like the when you were a little child looking forward to your Christmas present. You couldn’t wait for the day to finally come and open your present. Of course after a few days your new toy was not so cool anymore but at least you had that awesome feeling before. But right now Apple ruins the present for me. Like seriously how hard can it be to just launch the damn thing or give us a date. Belgium launched it like over night and we are having those rumors for years now and still jump in circles every time a new rumor goes around.

100% approval. You don't have to add anything anymore.

maybe it's been around a long time.

but i noticed yesterday that when you say siri (Apple Pay - add Apple Pay Card) it opens wallet directly.

#MeToo
But!! I do think that the delay is related to some “thing” specific to the German market. I mean, the Belgium thing with 3 banks... ftw, they don’t wait for banks/partners to be ready, neither are delaying launches because of bank resistance (see Switzerland)... it hast to be some legal **** holding the launch... we’ll probably never know

For the people wondering regarding payment terminals etc at Apple Stores here:
I went there yesterday to pick up a few phones (battery replacement for parents etc) and they had these bulky black bricks you had to slide your card in. No NFC capability at all, looked pretty antique.
I jokingly asked if they accept Apple Pay, they jokingly answered „not yet“. I replied that I‘m held hostage by the big bad red anyways and we all laughed. I rate the experience 8/10 cause no Apple Pay and Sparkasse.

Correct, the splash screen that showed only the MasterCard logo before now cycles through MasterCard and VISA-Logos when trying to add a card while Region is set to Belgien.

Interesting. My "Page Monitor" addin in Chrome didn't notice this change. Adding of KZ an BE it did recognize correect.

I’m pretty sure Apple Pay won’t launch this year if it’s not released until 12/11. So we got one week from now.

Yes, cook said it, but apple is delaying so many things these days, I wouldn’t be surprised if good old Bargeld Germany isn’t on apples priority list this holiday season.

Like karma said, my hype is gone as well.

The Isaacs have NFC capabilities built in. It just has not been activated yet.

I wonder if a card terminal is able to tell if the person is trying to pay using Google Pay or Apple Pay? Is that technically possible?

In theory, yes. Apple Pay support CDCVM (customer device cardholder verification method), the thing that lets you pay huge sums of money without entering your PIN on the terminal, if the terminal supports it. This would immediately tell the terminal "yep, mobile phone"—at least for now.

However, I doubt anyone implemented something like this. I remember when Apple Pay launched in the US, some merchants wanted to prohibit Apple Pay and opted to just disable contactless payments completely.

For more details, I found this: https://stackoverflow.com/questions...ctless-card-and-smart-phone-when-performing-a

As we discussed a few months back ... cash orientation is no reason for or against an Apple Pay launch.

In Japan is cash much more king than on Germany and they launched it years back.

And here's details on the "Deutsche Bank Card Virtual":
https://www.iphone-ticker.de/apple-pay-die-bedingungen-der-deutsche-bank-card-virtual-134609/

As I mentioned before, it's a Mastercard, not a Maestro, as someone here was so sure of.

BTW that's a damn fine implementation and hoping other banks follow...

Not unless DB were taking longer to implement all this (esp. if it was only included in the last app version) and Apple needed to wait for them to finish the work on their end...

Fine implementation? Limit of 1000€/day? Seems a little bit small for me. Some groceries bills and an online order via Apple Pay and you’re out?

1000€/day is the standart limit for the Deutsche Bank Karte (the standart ec-card) so 1000€/day limit seems fine.

It's only for POS. You don't get the card number or CVC code. Read the terms... More than enough for daily stuff...

I think it's a good option!

Yeah, but you don’t use the DB card online.

As the terms are not linked, I just could interpret the quotes in the article itself.

Hmmm with this limit, you don’t have to go to an Apple Store to buy something other than iPhone cases or AirPods :D

You do if you pay with Apple Pay in Safari or an app. :D
Not the quoted standard DB card :p

As I said, the linked article does not make clear, that the 1000€ are only at POS relevant. But if it is so... as mentioned, you could not even buy an iPhone XS with this card.
