At all comdirect users here: please write a tweet to comdirect and ask for the Debitkarte for Apple Pay

Je mehr Leute nachfragen desto schneller wird es kommen

I will probably do that, but I have a feeling that their social media team is probably starting to hate on me for the constant criticism (even though I like the bank) hahah

Has someone set up Apple Pay Cash (given a valid SSN) and used a German card to top up or send money? I'm wondering if the currency would still be only USD, given that green dot handles the APC card or if EUR is possible with the right region setting as (temporarily) in one of the support documents.

After the nearly childish press release of the DSGV today and the announcement of the Consorsbank ... perhaps we upgrade our business relationship with Consors in early 2019.

Looks like the Kreis- und Dorfkassen got on their feet and are battling with the big branches in the cities and metropolitan areas that are facing hard competition. Any bets when a split in the federation will take place? This tension within the federation between competitive and successful branches, burned out ruins in NRW and jwd branches that did not recognize how the world changed since 1982 will not hold forever.

Thats correct, i wonder when the first car company has a deal with Apple to get that access. (I hope its Audi :p)

Chances are quite high for the future cause both, Apple and Audi (as well as other car manufacturer), are member of the car connectivity consortium that is currently working on the digital car key :)

https://carconnectivity.org/press-r...ry-standardized-smart-phone-car-key-solution/

Combined with Apple Watch this would be awesome! And of course gets even better when you are able to transfer spontaneously the key of your car over internet to another family member or if you plan to use Car-Sharing or want to rent a car at the airport etc.

Audi already released kind of release 1 digital key for example in the Audi A8. But you need an Android Smartphone to use it.

https://www.audi.de/dam/nemo/models/misc/connect/PDF/Audi-connect-Schluessel.pdf

Release 2 completion is already planned for Q1 2019 and from then it should be ready for implementing.

Best of all: Contrary to cashless payment, this solution is predestined to start in Germany first and not after 4 years!!! :D

Cool, didn't know that. Weird tho, that Apple doesn't support it yet, even tho they are in this group...

I don’t see why it’s so important what the thread is called like. „Apple Pay“ or „Apple Pay Cash“ or whatever we are clearly all here because of Apple in general. So maybe we just stick to this thread and everyone stops calling out get back to topic if someone posts something slightly off topic. Maybe we should just rename the thread to „Stammtisch“ then we can talk about whatever we desire to talk about...

I know more cards are better then less but I still don’t see why having the giro card for Apple Pay is a gain over the vista?

When would I pick one over the other?

Just a German issue related to deprecated information of extra charges for retail stores on payments with credit cards. In the EU this got limited on Nov 2017 but it‘s still a little bit more expensive than a Gitocard payment. In fact only smaller retails avoid payments by CC (e.g. reject them on electronical cash Terminals).

The problem is, that these regulations don't reach the retails. Look at the prices they have to pay for transactions. Not the always talked about regulated prices.
No retailer gets these prices!

He wasn't asking for a "giro card" but a debit card. A debit card withdraws money directly from your bank account. A credit card, doesn't. In the case of comdirect, the credit card isn't connected to the main account but to a sub account. This means you have to manually transfer money from your main bank account to your subaccount to which the visa is connected. By contrast, a Mastercard Debit (like that from N26) would function same way as a gircard in that it withdraws directly from your main account.

I paid with Apple Pay (comdirect) using my watch yesterday for the first time at Aldi.

Worked perfectly – I was amazed how fast the transaction went through. I usually pay contactless with my NFC credit card which takes a couple of seconds. With my watch the transaction was immediately confirmed as soon as my wrist reached the terminal.

The only thing I miss is the transaction history when making payments with the Apple Watch. I read that it depends on the bank if transactions from all devices (or even physical cards) appear in the wallet on the iPhone, so there's probably no way to configure this?

You've got to be kidding me…
