OK, Boon removes the Cards. When you re-add it you get the German AGB and a new number.

Yes, received the push notification now.

comdirect: visa
boon: mastercard
payback: amex

should give everyone the most important CC's :)

So you are saying I need the Payback Amex just so I have amex... just in case :p

But some are credit, other debit... in bold the cards you can add to Apple Pay. bunq being the special case with a Maestro card.
-
Also comdirect has announced that the VPay part of the Girocard (but not Girocard as a payment network itself) will wonder into our Apple Wallets.

I am not sure I really care if its debit or credit... in the end, I know my balance even with some accounts in the negatives... or am I missing something?

Sorry for beeing so noobish and hard to teach... why would I use the BPay Girocard from comdirect when I can use the Visa CC I already have in my Wallet?

Thanks guys!

ING (Visa Credit + Debit)

The ING Visa is Credit branded but it's only a Debit Card. The Payment would be shown directly after the transaction is done. It' debited after 2-3 days.
There is no Credit available with the VISA, you can only access to the money you have on your account.

Maybe we could create a sort of "What card should I get for Apple Pay" wiki, that @sir-hd can sticky to the first post.
That way the thread could stop getting fogged with the same questions over and over and we can refer all general questions towards that sticky post.

Thanks for this detailed overview but my intention was only to clarify the three most important CC's - amex, mastercard and visa. This is only important to make sure you can pay "everywhere" where any of the CC is accepted (e.g. amex is the less one in Germany). If this is debit or credit ist mostly not important, there're only a few ones like renting a car etc.

So you are saying there are occasions where they will not accept a CC but a debit card?

EDIT:

Sorry for serious OT...

They ask if I have a Payback account already, any reason to create one before requesting the payback amax card? If you don't have already a Payback card ... it doesn't matter

Thanks a lot ;)

to link the Payback points ... and you get the 1000 points on that card
I requested directly from the Payback App being logged in into Payback

After having experience with all kinds of cards using them in different countries around the globe, I strongly prefer real credit cards (as long as you're not paying any interest of course).

Depending on where you shop or what you buy debit cards are not a problem. But alas, there are merchants (and some countries are full of them) that for example don't remove the pre-authorization charges and just let them expire but also already actually charge your card. On a normal credit card that's not a problem. The pre-auth charge won't even show in the monthly statement and you won't have to worry. But I was once in the predicament after buying some groceries with an N26 Black card and even though I shopped for only roughly a $100, I was out of $200. Yes, after some 3 weeks that money was returned to my account, but that is money I can't spend even though I should be able to in that time frame. With how things are handled in Germany, you won't have this problem, but for me it was a huge inconvenience at that time. And with some retailers like hotels or car rentals, it's actually to be expected.

So I will stick to my Amex Payback for Apple Pay and then add my DKB Visa to it as soon as that will get released. Both completely free and real credit cards that won't screw you for some reasons. (You could argue that the merchants are at fault and maybe they are indeed but that doesn't change the reality of the situation.)

Btw does anyone have experience with the Fidor Bank combi card? It seems to be a combination of MasterCard and Maestro, and it says "credit | debit" on the front. How does that work exactly?

It is not only branded as a credit card, it is a credit card. The only difference is, that ING debit it from your current account within three days. So although technically it is a credit card through and through (also shows up as so at POS), it basically functions as a debit card. comdirect used to have a weekly rhythm until they switched to debiting monthly from your account.

It will be interesting to see if ING will switch to a purely Visa Debit card (like with Consors), that's why I put Debit + Credit.

There is also still this thread where we could talk about all the different banks and credit cards available? Terms and conditions etc. aren't really too much Apple Pay related.

But this thread is sure to stay alive, we still have many topics to discuss and coming up...
Apple Pay Cash, Sparkasse Vs. Apple, ING / DKB / Consors et al. in 2019, ...

My local Cinema does accept Debit and Girocard but no CC. And it is one of the big cinema chains.

On another note: made my first  pay payments with my phone and my watch with a comdirect visa and it worked like a charm.

For the most frictionless experience, I would advise to wait until the register really confirms the payment as final. After the terminal 'beep' wait for the register to open/confirm/print the receipt.

I walked away a few times when the terminal had accepted the NFC card ('beep') but the register had not processed it entirely yet and the employee asked me to wait until the payment was processed (which happened two seconds later). This will also hopefully (in the beginning of mobile payment adoption) help prevent ignorant people from accusing you of hacking or whatever headache :D

Always waiting. You never know if there is a problem at processing your card. Issues at the service provider, issues at the payment processor ...

You have paid when the cashier says „thank you“. Not one moment earlier. If you just walk away and the payment is declined, why ever, it could be seen as an attempt to defraud. ;)

Revolut customers know what I mean with „problems at processing“ :D

DKB is my main goal and with it my LH Miles and more CC.
But LBB would be great for Amazon Visa. But I doubt they will move :-(
I’ll write them (LBB Amazon) now and then to remind them we’re in 2018 and not 1870.
