I had a strange situation on Tuesday when I payed for my lunch with AP. The place is called “urban foodie”. The notification from the wallet app incorrectly quoted the name as “urban outfitters” which is a clothing store just across the street from the lunch place. The N26 app correctly stated “urban foodie”. Very weird! Did anyone notice a similar occurrence?

Yup. Happens every so often. The issue happens because the Wallet app compares the name of the store that the is pushed by the terminal with your location at the time of the payment and the locations on Apple Maps. Since we all know how accurate Apple Maps is in Europe, this is where the issue arises. If the name of the store pushed by MasterCard and the name of the store in Apple Maps match up to a certain percentage, then you’ll get the Apple Maps store Name shown in Wallet together with the address of the store.

Oh wow good to know thanks! Even Apple shoud not rely on their maps for payments :p

But that's what they should. Apple Maps is by far not that convenient as Google Maps. The only advantage is privacy. Thats why I am using it. I don't want to think about Apple's incoming AR Service. Would be a disaster with their outdated database:eek:

I asked me several times how they are locating the shop. Is it a single authentication just by GPS locating or is there a database which is syncing the individual id of the POS?

Not sure why it's happening now but it's the first time I am getting an instant notification right after the payment with comdirect <3

This from day 1. The main issue is that transactions are not live in Comdirect online banking, usually they are visible in after 2 or 3 days

And Apple Watch Support.
I like it to get route information while driving on my wrist by vibration.
And also using it on the wrist to search something. But this is rare.

Yeah, comdirect processes transactions rrrreeeeaaaaallllyyyy slowly. But anyone who has experience with Commerzbank knows: They're just as slow.

DKB now reflects pending transactions in the account overview and apparently they'll also show you all transactions in real-time soon, just like with ING. I assume once DKB/ING launch Apple Pay, comdirect will (hopefully) have sorted all the other stuff out. Different banks, different priorities

I've had / have accounts with most of the partners and banks mentioned before (I 'enjoy' trying out different accounts and finding the perfect one for me, instead of living with a subpar experience).

I think it would be great to open a banking wiki or something, where it would be a very transparent comparison (with a forum attached) where experiences can be shared. I think many are debating which bank or which cards to choose and it's not easy.

Just ordered another DKB account for my wife.
She is still at Sparkasse at the moment having an Direct-Account.
It costs her 1,90€ if she gets over 1200€ income. But now we have a daughter and she will not have that amount of money on her account anymore and they will then raise it to 3,80€/month because of that. So this will get the goodbye Sparkasse, as we are not paying 45€/year for nothing!
And I don't get it why my wife is now getting a more worse customer because of not getting more than 1200€?
BTW. Ordering the DKB Account is very easy for us. I have a DKB for my own and we have a combined account separately at dkb. Just had to take the account data of my wife, logon, go to new account page, that was prefilled with her information, had to accept and that's it. No further Post-Ident! So, welcome DKB and soon ApplePay!

Wow, that's cheap!

The Sparkasse I know charges 4,95€ for the most basic (digital) account (only Girocard, no usage permitted without surcharges in the branches). That's regardless of income coming into the account. If you want a regular MasterCard, it's an additional 2€ per month. 6,95€ for nothing more than what you get with DKB. If you want access to the branch network, you're looking at 8,50€. o_O

And then they think they can bully Apple by trying to get customers to put pressure on them, when in fact it's gone exactly the other way. With that pricing they are clearly in the premium segment.

But one question I do have: If you walk into the Sparkasse (and don't have an account with them) and you're looking for a loan or a mortgage - does that cause any problems?

The only reason I went several times into my Sparkassen branch was due to regulated signings and after that to shut down my accounts, savings etc. Everything was printed on paper like in 1964.

If I sum up: i went more often for signatures instead of really using the consulting

I wish more people would change their accounts but I think it is still a "rotes Tuch" to switch cause of the trust that is an artificial problem

With competitive local banks ;)

Even the real-estate credit had the best conditions. Or nearly. Cheapest offer on the net was just 0,05% lower. So, why don’t trust in your local branch? ;)

I can now understand why you like them somehow. They are kind of fair. Our Sparkasse is Not at all and are sitting on „einem hohen Ross“.
Don’t know why my wife is a more worse customer because she has given birth and will stay at home for 3 years.
