A question for intense discussions ... is it really clever and a good idea to cut independent European or national solutions in favor for only American products?

Good point but this should have been done years ago. Apple Pay et. al have been on the horizon for quite a time. This is what I mean with horrible business development decisions. It appears there is no long term strategy and vision at DSGV/DK. Or a bad strategy or it is not acted upon, regardless what it is, all is just pitiful.

In my opinion they should‘ve gone in negotiations for the GC support and would‘ve instantly gotten full e-commerce support using AP with their GC. That would be so huge because they‘re not getting any of that money right now, right?

I don‘t get their DSGV people.

That would have been a huge chance to revitalize girocard and again, the deficits of girocard are so obvious, yet nothing apparent has been done to this day to really remedy the situation. Instead, I hope they rightfully loose customers currently paying for their (premium) credit cards.

Please, spare us from your conspiracy talks. If you trust the German government so much, stay in your Soros box, but leave spare freedom-loving people.

Besides, this is about Apple Pay and not about conspiracy theories.

Discrediting Pan-European infrastructure in favour of 100% foreign services is just a really bad idea and shows your lack of broad perspective and risk awareness. While not everything has be be a national/"homemade" solution, there are very good reasons to mitigate external dependencies of critical infrastructure. Politics and history are full of examples.

I closed my N26 account, they have too many problems.

My main account is DKB and until they have Apple Pay next year I will use bunq. I used their Black Friday offer and got lifetime premium but only up to 250 Euros a month. But that is enough for Apple Pay usage for me.

Microsoft made a lot of nice approaches but they never succeeded to keep it in the market or bring it to the market.
When you face it, they had the first smartphones but with their management they could not win, remember Ballmer when the first iPhone came out: „a xx Dollar Phone and it does not even have a keyboard“ and was laughing.
He really underestimated the market and that happened with a couple of good things Microsoft had in stock.
Sometimes they just have been too early (first tablet).

I’m on N26 for over 2,5 years, and I use it as my main account for about 1 year now. Haven’t had a single problem in this period.

N26 is just a „Play“ Account for me. Would never make it my main bank!
They did not keep their word, leaving the old accounts away from Schufa, that’s untrustable to first say that and then just put the info in.
Secondly their handling is weird for every day usage. Credit is only a debit card which makes it hard in US to get specific things (rental cars as an example but even gas stations can be a problem). Their debit is only Maestro which makes it sometimes not usable (heard this from different threads, I did not even order one after their move to their own Bank Account).
Money transfer is weird to handle for one time payments. Why the hack would I want any stupid company in my address book for transactions? Please let the user decide! Good GUI would be to accept the data and ask at the end of the transaction if you want to save this contact for later usage.
Last but not least missing accounts for couples. That’s where we use DKB a lot. I want my wife and me to have an own account with own money to spend without asking and a joint account. Not doable with N26!
But that’s just my feeling about it.

I have N26 as my main account as well. Never had a problem which the Support couldn't solve. Transfering money is easy and for the US just get another (”real”) credit card like the Barclaycard. N26 let's you choose between MasterCard and Maestro as well.

So, why doesn’t my card show up? Every time the apps show up I opened up recently.

Did you really add the card to the watch by either using the iPhone app of the bank or through the Watch App?
Payment Cards show up in the Watch Up under Wallet and ApplePay and will even be configured there (Default card, Shipping Address etc.)

That's what I Mean about Maestro vs. Girocard. N26 states it by themself:
https://support.n26.com/read/000001266?locale=de
"Lass uns etwas direkt klarstellen: Deine Maestro kann nicht für Online-Einkäufe verwendet werden und ist nicht in das deutsche Electronic Cash- (EC-) oder Girocard-System eingebunden."
Maestro does not help you if the store only accepts Girocard and that's what people have complained about, as they had NO card to pay in some stores. Must not hit you, if you have the right stores.
And my comparison is the DKB which all has this and I don't need an extra card for traveling to the USA, which I do at least once per year, with a couple of costs. Also DKb was nice in Thailand, as i had no fees with paying. So for me the overall package is just better.
But this is as said only my opinion and that's why my main bank is DKB and will stay my main bank.

Yes, I did. But! It sits on the carger, I entered the PIN and double tapped. But I did the same wearing the watch.
It seems it’s not added or does it show as not added when the watch is locked? I know I added it.

Not so for me. Like I said, I’m perfectly fine.
I use an additional amazon lbb MasterCard credit for several years now, so i don’t care that N26 only offers a debit MC.

The thing I like about N26 is, that it is so unbürokratisch and easy. For example they raised my dispo over the past 2 years automatically from 1.5k up to 8750€. Actually I have never used it but I like seeing the number rise every quarter. I remember back when I was at ING and their way to give a dispo. And i know 95% of all Banks are same.

That just don’t reflects my kind of lifestyle, N26 does. I also use the metal card, because I really like these kind of gimmicks a lot.

And that's exactly one more reason I don't like them. If I want a higher Dispo, I will tell them. I don't want any freaking bank to raise this by themself. Next thing they do, if you go into Dispo they will make a credit contract for you so you can use more dispo afterwards .... (just imagining how the future could be with them). Btw. Dispo are messaged to Schufa, so I don't like them changing it just so.
A dispo can easily get into a trap hole and that's nothing a bank should raise by themself. But hey, it's a free market, if you want that stuff, fine with me.
BTW. Raising dispo at DKB is one click in the services section and you give them the value you want. Sure they check your income on the account, but that's fine as they are taking the risk.
BTW. Done this already more than once with my main account (which was from start 9300€) and our joint account where I only wanted it to be 500€ as all this is going to Schufa.
