This TWINT topic is about Apple Pay popping up if you‘re near the TWINT QR reader. Did somebody here actually experienced this?

https://www.mobiflip.de/shortnews/schweizer-bezahlloesung-twint-bekommt-vorrang-vor-apple-pay/

never for me... Twint is very slow to complete transactions, but I never had Apple Pay interfering. I thought at least the recent versions are using bluetooth not NFC to connect to the reader. At least for the litte standing terminals ... the QR arn't spread to wide.

For me the whole issue was completely different, I've thought they checked if UBS and the other Swiss Twint partner banks tried to kick out Apple Pay of the swiss market.

Nope, but I can imagine that this could be a problem. If you hold your iPhone near to NFC. It will show the ApplePay if configured. Never thought about that being a handicap, but it can. Maybe also with Payback or other cards, if the barcode reader is too close to the NFC.
Although I now do all these cards with Pass2U thanks to this forum.

What about Stocard? Isn’t it better as Pass2U because they don’t need your data?

Funny that you say that, since Stocard tracking your data points is exactly their business model (card data, usage, behaviour, location, registration, interface, login credentials) :D

But I don’t have an account there and don’t need it for the usage. Got my 5 cards there and it’s ok

Still no Apple Pay signs at DM or Kaufland.

Okay, Kaufland even did not put Amex stickers at the cashier desk until now. And they accept Amex since months.

Ah really? My first comment was political nature? Interesting.
Anyways, can we stick to the topic instead?
It was Apple Pay in Germany if I‘m not mistaken.

You were ranting about Soros/jews and the government, i don’t have to tell you what you are, do i?

Interestingly I haven’t seen a single shop in my city that has a Apple Pay sticker even so you can pretty much pay anywhere with Apple Pay. I wished they would put those stickers up because I hate those kind of situations where you have to keep asking over and over again if they accept contactless or not when going to new locations especially in cities you are not familiar with.

Just got my 5€ from Boon. So another 3 months free with the cashback. Great. And additionally I get Miles from Miles and more or Amazon Cashback from the Amazon Card. So for me this is great.

Aldi Süd displays the Apple Pay logo on the screen of their card payment terminal.

DVB Dresdener Verkehrsbetriebe supports Apple Pay and Google Pay.

good development of the payment but it was convenient few years ago. I still don't get why they don't implement the Payment system into a "digital Fahrschein" without buying a paper ticket.

Best transit system I've ever used was the underground in London. No Ticket, no "Insellösung" simply using your CC to check-in/check-out.

Still don't get why whey are not going this ways. Maybe the problem is the giro card that seems not able to generate tokens. btw: NYC will follow the London style transit with NFC payments. If we see the development in Germany maybe 2028 we are able to use this way of transit while the whole world is using face detection to pay

Oh perhaps some are suffering a GiroCard persecution complex, who knows?

There are reservations against such a solution in Germany because of data protection and profiling reasons. there should start a pilot test in Nürnberg where NFC cards were used to check in and check out of bus, subway, tram etc. - the result was a massive backlash because data protection activists and customers complained about the possibility to generate a mobility profile:
Who gets when and where on what line, who steps where and when out of the lines? what is around these points, who takes the same lines, who meets who regularly on what spots, etc.

that will be the main reason, why (afaik) no transport authority in Germany established such a system.

I remember to check in carparks in LB/S with my MasterCard around 2000/2001. Read the CC at the entrance and read the CC at the exit ... automatic charge of the correct amount. no need to get to a vendor with a ticket. was shut down about a year ago, same arguments "the company knows what car when and blah..." did not see this system a lot in the last 20 years. could count it on two hands...
