Thats a good point in my eyes too. You surely can use AP at those shops you go to regulary and where you therefore know it works. But it is not reliable enough in case you want to leave your wallet at home and do a shopping trip in the city or farer away. So it is sadly only a nice tool but nothing more.

As a short work around, like flower shops that support these payment methods, I tell them what I‘d like to have, pay it first and let them do the service afterwards. Not that smooth and makes to explain the case sometimes... but as already told, I kept my wallet at Home for over two years... there‘re really only a few cases where there wouldn‘t be any other possibilty.

And that although we have a much higher acceptance of nfc as in the US, where the magnetic strip and not even the chip is king ;)

It is very uncommon that I can not pay with NFC card or Apple Pay in my City. But I would not rely on it. I always cary a small clip with a few cards with me.

Friends of mine are in China in the capital city and they are telling me that Applepay doesn’t work. They trie this several times, they have comdirect.

That is strange because ApplePay launched in China last year. What do you think?

There are places in China that don’t accept any cards other than their own UnionPay ones. So if Visa is not accepted, Apple Pay with Visa won’t work either. Or maybe there’s some kind of a block on comdirect‘s side.

I bought stuff on Zalando, via Apple Pay today. Payment pending via boon and the payment is worked on in the Zalando app. It worked or not?! It was my first payment with Apple Pay.

There are very very few places where non-Unionpay apple pay works in China. The only one I've been told works is Starbucks. Even McDonald's didn't the couple of times I tried it.

In China, Apple Pay is essentially rebranded UnionPay Quickpass (the equivalent of PayWave and PayPass). It is totally incompatible with the other contactless systems.

It is. Pending...
Yep, it's ok, amount is reserved on credit card. It can take up to several weeks, in Germany it's usually 2-4 weekdays or realtime, depending on the stores configuration until it finally enters on the credit side. If it wouldn't work the payment had been rejected and there wouldn't be any notification about any pending payments... But this is nothing new or Apple Pay related stuff and the usual way of credit cards.

Just had my first return with an AP-bought item. Got the refund mail by the shop on Monday, but I can’t see a refund on my bank account (N26). Let’s see how long it takes :p

I would like to pay at NORMA with my watch tomorrow. I’m sitting in a wheelchair. What would you say, is it possible to reach the POS as a wheelchair driver? Thanks!

anyone interested, here is a tip, if you wear your watch with a winter jacket plus sweatshirt.

When you wear your watch on the arm, that is nearer to the terminal no problem, otherwise could be a problem when your arm length is to short. Would‘n‘t worry, you should still carry your phone as backup.

Provide us with more feedback if possible, sounds interesting. This has been a web transaction?

I ordered clothes via an app. I didn’t need to create an account, the shop took all the needed information from my CC in applepay. Maybe this is why it takes so long. Don’t know.

NORMA worked perfect with my watch. Payment is also listed in the boon. app not within the wallet. Like you guys said.
