I must admit, never liked DB, but the Ad they produced is really lovely and sweet! An excellent job in my eyes and I do believe it will bring them private customers back ...
A lot better then these more financial driven Ads you mostly see on TV which come up with Stocks and whatever.

Sad but true. People nowadays let betray themselves by fancy ads and funny but useless functions but reliable products for the future. I bet a lot of people weight playtools like Apple Pay higher than their retirement arrangements...

Apple Pay is not that cheap after all. It is an open secret that Deutschen Bank joined Apple Pay mostly only as a sort of expensive PR campaign to gain positive views in the private market. A market that they disregarded arrogantly for much over a decade and want to recover as their others businesses implode one after another...

CommerzBank on the other hand need every single cent of profit as they still suffer from the last financial breakdown. Perhaps this is the reason. Just speculating. As you said, there will be no technical reasons as Google Pay already works.

I'm still not quite sure if it's purely based on the cost with them... Commerzbank is so busy with many other technical implementations and switching their payment processor (from their own one to equensWorldline) that maybe it's also down to the IT department being overstretched. But it is odd that Santander is still adamant they will launch in January (according to some).

Yes it is.
But banks did also bring this behavior.
When I see the Sparkasse of my wife who always want to bring her to end her Bausparvertrag and make a new one, but her conditions for saving more into the contract are great, so why should she stop it and take a new more bad contract.
And remember all the guys failing with their Lebensversicherungen.
They lost their trust in future products long ago.

No, just no.

Apple Pay has nothing to do with replacing investment/stocks or your financial planning for the future. I detect a slight distaste over and over again for Apple Pay...

That „Kapitallebensversicherungen“ lost most of the expected earnings ... sad story. Blame DB, CommerzBank and their fellows. These are the banks we have to thank for the last financial crisis. ;)

Even their stock market fonds crashed ...

You should reinitiate your detector.

Hmm... Really? -> "playtools" (isn't even a real word).

That's just a silly statement to make. Apple Pay is a financial tool for expenditures, payments. What is happening, is that people are splitting up tools for expenditures and income/investment. No longer sticking to the one bank they have known all their life (ie. Sparkasse), but picking out banks for different things. One for loans, one for a mortgage, one for daily payments, an additional credit card and so on.

There is no need to weigh Apple Pay against other financial products.

There are plenty of examples for EVERY bank where people have been cheated out of money. That goes for all three holy pillars of the German banking system...

@sir-hd
We discussed this several times before.
A) you are not against something and it is not a kind of distaste if you are not on the hypetrain bandwagon.

I see Apple Pay as what it is: a very convenient substitution for existing payment options that i also like to use. But nothing revolutionary or „better“.

If this triggers your „distaste“-detector, you are a fanboy. So what ...

B) people are considering canceling bank accounts and other contracts to switch for a toy like Apple Pay. That’s what I meant. And this is ridiculous.

Reg. A): By saying "hypetrain bandwagon" or "playtools" you are implying exactly that

"you are a fanboy"... oh please. And you are?

Reg. B): I don't think it's ridiculous at all. If my main account for daily payments doesn't support Apple Pay then I'll switch. It's the same with a savings account or my stocks/investment service: if they terms get worse and there are better options, I'll switch. That probably goes for many. Free market economy, heard of it?

But to each his (or her) own. This will be my last comment on the matter.

Does anybody know, what the minimum age is in Germany? I get this error on my child's iPhone and card.

Update on my return: still no refund visible. Waiting for two weeks now to get my money back. The shop said they did the refund on 12/20. That’s rather uncool.

Hope you all rutsch well. See you next year :D

My reserved money shows up as part of my amount within boon. Since today, if I’m not wrong. No notifications or anything. Associated purchase status: pending.

I've never had a refund through Apple Pay in Germany before. I checked with a refund I had recently at M&S in the UK... it took 8 days for the amount to shop up on my account (HSBC). So depending on the bank don't be too worried if it doesn't show up straight away.

Did you have to give them the device account number or just let you tap your phone on the reader again? Where did you get the refund from, just out of interest?

Zalando. Cancellation via Zalando app. Money had been only reserved. It was still on my account according to boon.
